XEngine termination during data population

Featured Replies

I down loaded and installed ASX a few nights ago. Now everytime I fly I get a fatal error in FSX. Sometimes it happens soon after departure and other times about 30 minutes or so into the flight. I am pretty sure it has to do with ASX as this did not happen before. I have not tried uninstalling and reinstalling SP1, I'll try that tonight. I was also wondering if it had anything to do with Norton Anti-virus. Any thoughts?Steve

Hello Jim,Well, I have been having the same problem as that of Jan. I fly for a while, then FSX will crash. ASX status line says problem rec SimConnect: Exception from HResult, bla bla bla.I have read all most of the previous threads. I couldn't figure out how to un-install FSX SP1, so I ran the SP1 installer and it reports that all is ok, unless you can tell us another way. I also checked my .NET 2.0 and 2.0 SP1 and it seems to be ok. I wonder if Jan really did get his ASX working or if he finally just gave up asking for help.Any advice???Rob

Hello Jim!Maybe I can be of some help.First of all I uninstalled SP1. This is how I did:1. In Windows XP press Start -> Control panel -> Add and remove programs2. Now, tick the box in the top line where it says "Show updates".3. Scroll down to FSX and uninstall the SP1 update.4. After uninstalling I installed it again.5. Stay in "Add and remove programs". Now scroll to Microsoft .NET Framework 2.06. Click on "Change/Remove", click "Repair". (Or perhaps it's better to uninstall and install again, but I just did a repair of the installation). After going through these steps the problems I had seem to be gone, but actually I don't know. The problem re-appeared suddenly, once, for a while ago, but I guess it had to do with something else that time.I hope this will help you, and if I find out that this didn't solve the problem I will write again in this forum.Best regardsJan J

Thank you Jan, I will try that right now. I had already repaired the .NET 2.0 Framework, and that did not help, so we can rule that out as being the problem.I will write back on this forum after I finish testing the SP1 re-install. Thanks again.Rob

I dunno. I had problems the day the server data was bad. Other then that its been running fine ever since. I do believe FSX and/or addons run better on older hardware.

Ok, I am getting ready to throw in the towel here.First off, my FSX is stable by itself. I run with two monitors at 1280x1024 each. Pentium 4 3.5 gHz, 1 gig ram, Win XP SP2, FSX SP1, .Net 2.0+SP1, Nvidia GeForce 7600 GS (512 Mb Ram), 10/100 network card, 2 hard drives. Here is what I have noticed so far. When running ASX, FSX seems to crash soonest when there is more of a workload going on, like when I am calling up the map on ASX or there is a larger amount of scenery detail being used, although I don't know of any way to prove that since Windows Task Manager usually shows the CPU Usage at 100% most of the time. My pagefile usage is about normal -- about 600-700 megs of my 1 gig ram. I have tryed lightening up the workload on the CPU and this seems to help but does not "cure" the problem. So it may be that you guys are not taxing your systems as much and just don't crash FSX as often or at all.Have any of you guys tested ASX while flying over photo-scenery yet? That is where it seems to crash the soonest. Jim? Damien? Anyone???The only thing keeping me going is the fact that I have used Active Sky for many years and I know what it is capable of. Also, it is fantastic while it is working - for a few minutes at least :(Rob

Yes, I have this one if this helps. I can get screen shots of anything else you might need as well. For example, if you need the contents of the report, or a snapshot of ASX, however, ASX keeps running just fine when this happens.Robhttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/174138.jpg
