February 16, 200323 yr Commercial Member On behalf of the Mid Atlantic Air Museum, and its flight simulation development team, MAAM-SIM, welcome to our support forum. In case you are not familiar with us, MAAM-SIM was formerly known as Bill Rambow MAAM-SIM www.maam.org
February 16, 200323 yr "for making it available to us at no cost"... ugh, who said no cost? You and your team are buying the AVSIM staff (all 30+ of us) the first five rounds at the awards banguet in September. :-lolSeriously, you are welcome Bill. Glad to see you here as part of the simming community. Welcome aboard!
February 16, 200323 yr Yo Bill ! Glad to see some "noise" from the team. Can't wait to see the B-25, the teasers you guys have put out look amazing. I bought a 200 Watt speaker system just for the B25.... Going to need additional insurance around here for the windows... WELCOME to the AVSIM world... JUst booked marked this to the top of my favorites list... Mike B.
February 16, 200323 yr Hello Bill !I'm looking forward to adding Briefing Time to my hanger :) I was wondering if the proceeds from BT are going to be going towards the real Briefing Time or could they be used on maybe the R4D or the Black Widow for example? Although I haven't heard the sounds you guys have came up with for her, I think I may see a speaker upgrade in my future :)Darrell
February 17, 200323 yr I am a fan of your R4D-6, and looking forward to your future work.Great to see you guys here!!Tony in Miami
February 17, 200323 yr Author Commercial Member Hi DarrellThanks very much. In fact, I know that some of the funds will indeed go toward maintaining the real 'Briefing Time', but we have decided not to restrict the way the funds are used by designating them for a specific project. The money, like all the income at the museum, will go to where the need is greatest. We still have a couple engines to buy, and several planes under active restoration. The most notable of these is the P-61 Black Widow, and I ecourage anywone not familiar with that amazing story to take a look at the "Widow's Web" at www.maam.org But we also have the last C-119 "Flying Boxcar" in military service being restored in the big WW-II hangar across the field at Reading. I would love to see these planes finished and flying, because I want to do sims of them! :-) Bill Rambow MAAM-SIM"The R4D Team" Bill Rambow MAAM-SIM www.maam.org
February 19, 200323 yr What I am about to say may be completely wrong and incorrect -- so , if it is , please correct me!! :)I live in Australia -- and have never been able to get hold of the MAAM FS2002 RD4.The reason for this is twofold. Firstly, I have NEVER been able to understand how to download the package . As the RD4 was originally designed for Fs2000 and there seem to me to have been both patches issued for the FS2000 version plus some other kind of FS2002 update, I have NEVER been able to figure out how to download and install (in an easy to understand manner) the RD4 for FS2002. The download instructions are extremely confusing to me.Secondly, with the FS2002 update , I understand that there is a $5 US contibution required -- this is no problem to me at all , EXCEPT that I am very reluctant to expose my credit card details on the internet for the sake of a lousy 5 bucks.!! Now, I might be a total idiot! :) -- very likely. But , it seems to me that if you have never gotten some money out of me , despite my desire to give it to you, then possibly you may be missing out from a lot more from other sources. So -- how about it . Can somebody please give me some explicit and easy to understand instructions on how to download the FS2002 MAAM RWD -- these instructions should include the name of the files required plus the names of all update/patch files required, their locations -- and how to do so and pay my $5 without having to use my credit card on the Internet (All the time, while remembering that I live outside of the boundaries of the US!!!)Thanks for any helpBarry
February 19, 200323 yr You guys were quiet for so long. Now I see why. Although the CD is in the mail (isn't it?)I would like to try the trial version. Is it in the file library now? I havn't been able to locate it, if it is.Marc:-beerchug
February 19, 200323 yr The trial version isn't yet available Marc, but it won't be long before it is. Keep your eyes peeled!K.
February 20, 200323 yr Hi Barry,it's none of my business of course, but I can understand your problems. Due to the elaborate protection system it never was real easy to get the R4D installed.But... if I may give you some advice? WAIT a few more months for the new gmax R4D with virtual cockpit to appear. I can guarantee you it is absolutely worth the wwait and it will save you from the hassle with the old FS000/FS2002 files, whilst still allowing you to contribute the $25 US or whatever tot the MAAM museum. :-)(And by the way.. the $ 5 is only for the update from FS2000 to FS2002 I believe, you'd still need to buy the original FS2000 package for $ 25 bucks ;-) ).Best ergards, :-outta Francois :-wave

"At home in the wild"[link:avsim.com/alaska/alaska_052.htm]Don's Alaskan Bush Charters]"Beavers Lead the Way"[br]
http://www.fssupport.com/images/moose4.gif
[/table Francois A. February 20, 200323 yr M. Dumas,Respectfully, I would like to correct some information in your post. If a person wants the 2002 version of the R4D6, one must only purchase the $5 update and install it after installing the Visual Model Upgrade. Only 2 files are required in total: the freeware vis model upgrade and the 'donationware' 2002 v4.75. The $25 is only for the CD version if I'm not mistaken. If I have any of this backwards, Mr. Rambow, pls feel free to fire away. Can't wait for that CD to come in the mail. Looks like you made it back from the post office all right. ;) Regards,John Wood
February 20, 200323 yr Oh okay, sorry if I got it wrong. I bought the CD such a long time ago that time starts to influence these old brains ;-)Doesn't change my opinion on the new Gmax though... better wait for that one to hit the shelves..... isn't that going to be freeware !?? (Or are my memory banks overloaded again?) :-lol :-outta Francois :-wave

"At home in the wild"[link:avsim.com/alaska/alaska_052.htm]Don's Alaskan Bush Charters]"Beavers Lead the Way"[br]
http://www.fssupport.com/images/moose4.gif
[/table Francois A. February 21, 200323 yr Author Commercial Member Sorry, Francois, we are out of the Freeware aircraft business. The Gmax R4D, which will be all new from the ground up, except for Jan's already complete, and fantastic VC, will be "payware", "donation-ware" - whatever you want to call it. We are making money for the museum, after all. That's the purpose of the exercise. One notable exception: Jan will be putting out different liveries and variations, both in the B-25 and in the DC-3. These will all be free, but useable only with the full, payware versions of the parent aircraft, of course. The first one planned is a shiny, bare-metal B-25J. Jan loooooooves those shiny planes. :-) Bill Rambow MAAM-SIMhttp://www.fssupport.com/maam_sim/maamsim_logo.gif Bill Rambow MAAM-SIM www.maam.org
February 21, 200323 yr Some days you cannot do anything right.... :-(But since this was still up in the air, it is clear now :-) Poor Jan, he'll have a whole lot of Dutchies pushing him to make a few DDA liveries no doubt !! :-lol :-outta Francois :-wave

"At home in the wild"[link:avsim.com/alaska/alaska_052.htm]Don's Alaskan Bush Charters]"Beavers Lead the Way"[br]
http://www.fssupport.com/images/moose4.gif
[/table Francois A. February 22, 200323 yr I want the CD. How long do you take to ship it once it is ordered on your site? Is there any time difference in shipping if we order it here at Avsim? Thanks for a GREAT bird! I have the R4 and love it. Regards, Bob.
