May 17, 200422 yr Hi,Here's a new tip for those that do not use FSAutoStart(I assume it shuts down Terminal Services). To disable terminal service:1. Run 'regedit'. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetControlTerminal Server TSEnabled = 02. Control Panel --> Administrative Tools --> Services: Terminal Server = manual3. Control Panel --> Administrative Tools --> Local Security Policy --> User rights Assignment: - Allow login through Terminal services = - Deny logon through Terminal Services = Everyone(In other words remove everything from 'Allow login through Terminal services' so that it is completely blank)How-To specify 'Everyone': Double-click 'Allow login through Terminal services' --> 'Add User or Group' --> 'Advanced' --> 'Find Now' --> Clcik on 'Everyone' --> Click 'OK'.4. Run 'regedit'. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREPoliciesMicrosoftWindowsInstaller "EnableAdminTSRemote"=dword:000000005. Reboot and check the services, it should be on manual and not started.Cheers,Jim
August 20, 200421 yr FSAutoStart can NOT shutdown this service once it has started since it does not respond to STOP requests via the Service Manager API.
October 2, 200421 yr This has been posted probably elsewhere but I want to share my discovery in the last week or so:- AGP aperture reduced to 32Mb (in the BIOS)- Anisotropic setting increased to 16X (not application controlled) in the video control panelFPS increased by about 10 in very complex scenery/traffic situations in my case (AMD-FX51, ATI9800XT). This seems to help in particular with high polygon count situations.KEYWORDS: ATI | video | FPS | Optimization | DirectX

February 17, 200620 yr Thanks for all of that!On my system -P4 3.0GHz 2MB L2 Cache HT1GB DDR3200XpertVision 6600I've just used this guide, and upped my screen res from 1024x768 in game to 1280x1024, and I've increased my average FPS by around 5, and major airports are a breeze now.
May 22, 200620 yr Warning! - This is a very long post.Hi All,Here is a slighty updated version of my guide. I thought the first one was pretty well received and hope you enjoy this slight update, especially if you never saw the first one!Not a lot new in here, mostly just revising and refining was done. So if you've seen the orginal there's not a lot new to see here. But here is one noteable addition, imho...Added new tip I came across on a post that helps alleviate severe/abrupt winds aloft changes when using real world weather. It seems to have worked good for me so far.Maybe I should also mention that I removed a couple of Services that are required to be left on Automatic and I changed that the 'Wait for Vertical Synch' slider should be set to either 'Application Preference' or 'Always On
August 18, 200619 yr 'If you have at least 1 GB of RAM I recommend turning up your AGP Graphics Aperture Size in the BIOS to 256'I just performed that tweak, and WOW, This has made the most difference since i started using fs9! Now its silky smooth, and no more sound stutters!CheersIan :)
August 23, 200619 yr Hi all,I am glad to hear this guide is still helping some folks out with getting better performance in FS. :) There is no magic bullet, but I know every little bit helps!Cheers,OneTinSoldier

As FS9 uses a lotof files whilst running - I set mine to Cache yrs agoand haven't had any shocks yet! (usual ctd's accepted). H.A.N.D.
September 14, 200718 yr QUOTE - The section is courtesy of FFX/SGA other than I figured out to use a 4 for my 5.1 speaker setup.SOUND=1SOUND_FADER1=0.500000SOUND_FADER2=0.460000SOUND_FADER3=0.620000SOUND_FADER4=0.800000SOUND_FADER5=0.810000SOUND_FADER6=1.000000SOUND_QUALITY=2Channels=4 --> use a 2 here if you only have 2 speakers, I have a 5.1 speaker setup.SamplesPerSec=44100BitsPerSample=16 - QUOTEI understood that FS9 couldn't cope with a 5.1 surround sound system. Would this change - mean I get sound from my rear speakers?
