Nvidia 77.72 problem

Featured Replies

Hello,In general I am getting few frames more with these drivers. However with advdisplay or Level-D following problem occurs.AA is set 8, anitrosophic filtering 8 as well. With previous official driver 71.89 (?) no problems occured. My card is Gainward 6800 GT. Any ideas what is the cause?Best Rgs Perttu

I feel your pain, I am looking for answers also with out having to keep changing drivers for different programs.

Overall, newer is not neccesarily better. I've found better frame rates and more fluidity in older drivers more often than not...

As Rich (keenrw) informed me in another thread, a high AA setting is the cause of the problem in 77.72 (I was using 8xS).I set my AA to 2x and the hiding of everything behind an opened dialog (as in your image) now causes no problem .I haven't had a chance to try 4X AA yet.Ben

I have no real expertise here, but when you say you've tried all the XP tweaks, have you tried the fs non-AA tweak i.e. turn off AA in fs (which AAs clouds) and turn on AA with your videocard driver AA (which doesn't AA clouds) .Ben

I have had the same experience with upgrading video drivers and slowing my FPS down. No more upgrading, if it isn't broken, I am not going to fix it. I have the original drivers that came with my 6800GT and I am leaving them there forever...........

go to www.guru3d.com and download the beta 80.40. Check various sim forums where you will find some very positive comments. I am using it with a ti4200 card, not very state of the art, and have no stutters and very few short pauses...not enough to worry about. I had no success with any of the 70xx series of drivers whql or not...in my case, jumping from the 60xx series to the beta 80.40 has been a very positive move.Sherm

I have had similar problems with a 6800 card and the latest drivers - I spent the weekend trying to resolve by comparing different drivers.80.40: At AA x8, I have the black screen problem both at the "create a flight" dialogue [aircraft picture is black] and when I open an extra programme in full screen mode [eg FS Nav]. At less tha AAx8, the black screen problem goes away but the video becomes unstable when making changes - lots of flashes whilst FS9 is loading or when selecting or deselecting the menu in full screen mode [ie pressing Alt]70.xx series: No problems in AAx8 - works very well. Still have the flashing problem at less than AAx860.xx series: As with 70 series.Of note, I have a separate lower performance system using a TI4400 card and even with the 70 series drivers, I have no probelms whatsoever - but, of course have only up to AAx4.Looks to me as if there is a conflict unique to a relationship between the 6800 cards, the latest drivers [the 6800 cards seem to accept ONLY drivers of the 60 series and above] and FS9's use of AA??
