MAXIVISTA - Multi computer / Display program

Featured Replies

Hello,I run a three computer network for my flight sim. Up until now, I have used multiple displays on one computer for the sim and have run support programs, like ASV on others. I also run some Project Magenta Software at times.I came across a multi computer / multi display program called MULTIVISTA. I tried the demo and bought the package (Pro Version) for about $50.00(US). IMHO this program is great. I now have the two support computers with multiple displays on each and just one main display on the flight sim system (two display cards in SLI). You can switch from extended screen mode (undocked panels) to "remote control" mode (keyboard / mouse works the remote compute) for any display at any time. I don't see any FPS hit on my system(s) at all. The site is www.maxivista.com.I do not believe that this program extends the main screen of the FS9 across multiple displays. There are other programs for that. What it does seem to do,seamlessly for me, is allow me to use one keyboard/mouse - run multiple support programs on multiple computers and control all of them from the main system, and display panels that I select on up to four computers with multiple screens. I'm sold on this and find this to be a really great purchase.Happy sim flying, Ron SagelNEAR KCHS

"I don't see any FPS hit on my system(s) at all."Hmm, for me the significant frame rate hit I experienced with some panels is what prevents me from using it much. I use it to expand different panel views (overhead, pedestal, navigation), but with the PMDG 737NG for example it

Hello,So far. I have not had the crash problem. I do get screen "outage" for a second and then all is well again. As for FPS, my machine is quite fast (AMD 64-3500+ with a gig of ram and the two NVIDIA 6800 cards in SLI). I only peg my FPS at 20FPS and find it holds up OK for the scenery/textures that I run (quite a lot of addons here). My only problem is at locations like EHAM with my Ultimate Traffic set at about 60%. There are a lot of addons that I fly like the Majestic Dash8-300 that seem to work really well on my rig. The biggest panel "slowdown" I get is with the PMDG 737 also. That is why I switched to Project Magenta Software for the Boeing and Airbus a/c and use freewares like IFDG and Project Airbus a/c. I will add here that all of my PSS aircraft, including their new 777 work great (FPS) on my system. I also fly the RFP 747 with little frame hits at all and a lot of panels on the CRT's. I really got the program to allow me to use only one set of control devices (KB and Mouse) for all of the displays. The fact that I can control all of my remote applications seemlessly is my bigest boost from the progam. Off-loading ASV and Flite Sim Commander and Radar Contact has really sped up my sim.CheersRon SagelNEAR KCHS

It's a little late now, but on sourceforge.net is Synergy.

I've been using MaxiVista for the last six months to drive five remote monitors. With the two connected to my main development machine, I have a total of seven screens! ;) I love it... ;)

Hi, just wondering if you can use any of the other monitors in the full screen mode? I tried the demo but it only works when the panels are undocked. I loose them when I switch to full screen. Thanks much.jsample

Can Maxivista be used with 1 computer and 2 or 3 monitors? Thanks.Abe

No, it is for connecting separate machines over a low speed link (LAN). If you already have 2 or 3 monitors on one machine, presumably you already have a dual or triple head graphics card, or one or more additional PCI graphics cards, so you wouldn't need to use Maxivista. They have some nice demo videos at the maxivista site.--Bryn

Thanks Bryn.
