November 1, 200619 yr My sytem is an Athlon 64 4000 o/c @2540mhz - Asus A8S-X - 2048mb PC3200 Ram @ 2.5,3,3,6 and a 6600GT 128mb Graphics Card. I just upgraded the RAM from 1024 to 2048 mb and the cpu from an Athlon 64 3500 and while framerates have improved and FSX is much smoother than before upgrading, the blurries have gotten even worse! I'm using all the reduced autogen textures and I have the buildings capped at 300 and trees at 3000 with autogen set to dense. I am using the 1m texture resolution and 80% mesh and global texture on high. I tried setting the FIBER_FRAME_TIME_FRACTION as high as .44 and I still get a sea of blurries on the ground and even the aircraft itself after flying for a while. FPS are capped at 20 and stay their for the most part. Aircraft and airport traffic are set to 0, Cars 20% and Boats 40%. The blurries got a lot worse when I upgraded the ram to 2 GB, however like I said the sim is much smoother now without long stutters. Will upgrading my graphics card to say a 7900GTX with 256 or 512mb help with the blurries or are they more dependant on the CPU. Please help before I spend more money on this!!!ThanksMartin Martin Sims: MSFS 2020, MSFS 2024 and X-plane 11 Home Airport: CYCW - Chilliwack, BC Canada i5 13600KF 32GB DDR4 3600 RAM, RTX3080TI Meta Quest 3
November 1, 200619 yr Commercial Member Hi Martin, I don't have an answer for you as I actually have the same type question posted a few threads below you. Personally I would THINK going from a 128MB card to a 512 card would provide some benifit with regards to renderng textures faster but not havin done this myself I cannot say. Hopeflly some other simmer has done this as of late and can tell us his results? I would like to upgrade my X800XT A-I-O 256 AGP for a 512 AGP... stay with ATI I think but not locked to it. November 1, 200619 yr Look at my specs in my sig. It is almost identical to what you run, except I have a 256 meg video card. And I do not get blurries under normal flying conditions, with FIBER_FRAME at the default .33 value. The only way I can make my system go blurry, is to slew too fast. Then it does it. So I think the low amount of video ram you have is a big part of what is causing the problem.RhettAMD 3700+ (@2.5 ghz), eVGA 7800GT 256 (94.47), ASUS A8N-E, PC Power 510 SLI, 2 GB Corsair XMS 3-3-3-8, WD 250 gig 7200 rpm SATA2, CoolerMaster Praetorian Rhett 7800X3D ♣ 96 GB G.Skill Flare ♣ Gigabyte 4090 ♣ Crucial P5 Plus 2TB
November 1, 200619 yr I agree, The system is now `unbalanced` with a weak link in the graphic card. It's almost certainly the VRAM causing the problem. It's a never-ending story, upgrades.Allcott
November 2, 200619 yr Well this is my system.Amd FX-62 dual core,Asus M2N32 Deluxe MOB,2 gigs HyperX ram,7900GTX,Raptor 150 hd.System is tweeked,OCed and minumal other progs running.I get blurries.Tried all Matts texture mods, fsx.cfg changes ect.Tried countless combinations of video, game settings.Tried the Intel X6800.Tried the 7950gtx. Added another 2 for a total of 4 gigs of the fastest ram.I get blurries. There are times when I look a the screen and go, YES, Finally I got a perfect picture. Nice and sharp, good fps ect.A minute later it goes to crap.I think the sim "morphs" and changes according to whatever is happening at that moment. Therefore its impossible to nail and dial in a setting thats the same all the time.Bottom line is Im tired of experimenting and Im starting to fly more and try to enjoy it rather than continue wasting my time trying to find that holy grail setup.

You shouldn't be getting blurries with all of that. Maybe it is a dual-core issue, something with the AMD Dual Core Optimizer program. Maybe it is a power supply problem, as in the gfx card not getting enough juice to run at it's fullest. Maybe it is a services issue. Just some thoughts. In college I had a programming prof who always said, "There is a reason for every problem!".RhettAMD 3700+ (@2.5 ghz), eVGA 7800GT 256 (94.47), ASUS A8N-E, PC Power 510 SLI, 2 GB Corsair XMS 3-3-3-8, WD 250 gig 7200 rpm SATA2, CoolerMaster Praetorian Rhett 7800X3D ♣ 96 GB G.Skill Flare ♣ Gigabyte 4090 ♣ Crucial P5 Plus 2TB
November 2, 200619 yr The PS is a 750. I have the best cooling available. I pretty much have the opportunity to try all the latest, greatest hardware, and have, and yet to find the "perfect" setup.7950gtx,x6800,been there done that....But Im more than happy with what I have.Flew up in Alaska last night with one of the seaplanes and it was stunning. Fps was out the roof running in the 40s and 50s,no slowdowns or blurries.I actually cranked the autogen and scnery to max and still stayed in the 30s.But like every fs before, get around the cities and things start slowing down and getting blurred.
November 3, 200619 yr I like both of your posts JIMJAM. Thats how I feel now. At some point is is best to just stop tweaking and start flying. I think you just end up making it worse.JimCYWG
November 3, 200619 yr Martin,The Blurries issue is like the holy grail. I have lots of Mega sceneries and run into this issue and reading from the megascenery forum and their suggested tweaks. I got the impression that harddisk has lot to do with improving from blurries. There are suggestions like doing an alphabet sort disk defragging using O&O defragger etc and everything. They are true but that alone is not sufficient.I have 10,000 RPM disk in RAID 0 and defragged and yet I have blurries issue.Thats when I realized that not only do you need fast seek HD but also a great video card. My current video card the Geofrce 7600 GT 256MB is still not up to snuff and its the weak link in my system (I was trying to hold off on expensive card for DX10).The interesting thing in my setup is... I can fly an aircraft at 550kts and I get the slight blurries (visible refreshing of textures) to the same degree as if I were flying a cessna at 120kts. My RAID 0 Raptors are providing the information fast all right..but my Video card/CPU seem to be chocking a bit.CPU Core 2 Duo OCed to 3.4GhzManny Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter
