November 10, 200619 yr I had reduced the latency on my memory..but I have having some trouble.. so Basically I was in the Bios I was trying to increase it..and what not. And then when I was running Prime95, I smelt somethinng burn. I couldn;t believe it..that I had fried my PC... then I quickly shut off the power and I was on the floor trying to sniff the PC and I swore that it was coming from my PC.I didn;t know what got fried... I gave it a few min and the smell was getting worse. This time.. I was thinking.. There is a fire inside and I was trying to figure out..how one would put out a PC on fire..without damaging the rest of the components.:(And then it hit me... My dinner was on fire. The kitchen was in smokes.Phew! what a relief! My FSim PC was saved.:)Manny Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter

November 10, 200619 yr >>And it WOULD have to happen while you are experimenting with an overclock.<< When else? :-) :-) Reminds me of a buddy who liked to 'cook' a pizza coming home at 5AM... :-)
November 10, 200619 yr Been there, done that.In my case, my power supply just went toast due to a power failure, and I had just installed a 550 watter. It ran OK on the bench, so I put the case back in its normal location and fired it up, then did some other stuff. Had the smell, just like you, and went running into the office to turn it off, thinking I didn't connect a fan or something.turned out I was making pizza dough in my bread maker, and something was jamming it so the drive motor was overheating. My bread maker might be dead now, but I can live with that!scott s..
November 11, 200619 yr Author Yeah..Scotch would have helped. The scary thing is.. I was actually relieved that it was my kitchen...and not the PC.:(MAnny Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter

ASUS MB board comes with a s/w called "probe" that displays CPU and MB temp.:)Manny Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter
