November 29, 200619 yr Author Clayton:As a result of the screen spanning I am now able and happy to fly in the PMDG 744 VC as well as ANY other VC that is clear and well-made--and there are many!I do like the idea of not having to ditch my entire 2D collection because I have many great 2D panels including the DC-10, PAul Golding's 707, and many others. But a good VC? Ready for it any time, man, any time. I just need the real estate space to move around in !I have to say the world of 1080p LCD is brand new to me and I never even knew you could put FS onto a huge LCD or TV screen the way I have been reading about very recently. These 32", 37", 40", and 42" high density LCD panels look amazing! I wonder how FS9 would look on them?It will be important of course not to go mad and not get anything that is so huge that you need to sit 8 feet away from the screen. In this respect, 3x19" with Matrox would suit beautifully since you can sit just 20-30 inches away and have a blast. It is very hard to equal or beat 3x19 on the smaller screen format for immersive 3D flight sim because you have the center panel which gives you a superb straight ahead view and you have peripheral visionthat you also can emulate by tilting the panels inwards to simulate the physicality of peripheral vision too. It's also a fairly sizeable set-up in total with a good field of vision and not a bad size physically. This is very exciting. The thing about FS is that I always go a step too far and as an addict it's easy to go overboard and then find that you just need MORE to be satisfied. And the satisfaction lasts only till the next "fix" comes into view and then the cycle starts quickly again.I have no idea whether I'll really get a 40" 1080p LCD panel or another 24" DELL LCD, or 3x19" LCDs. I do wish there were a way to try all of this out first, I really do. That's a big part of my hesitation and frustration with this stuff. I mean, sheesh, I bought the GTO card specifically to have an nvidia based display so I could run out and get Triplehead! November 29, 200619 yr Author Clayton:I'd be amazed if you had ANY problem with Triplehead and 3x19. You don't need boatloads of power for that. Your setup looks fine to me and you have an nvidia 7000 series card, you're good to go, easily. November 29, 200619 yr Author OK, point taken.I just came upstairs from flying the LDS 767 on my set-up. Wow, it is so great. Everything works so well and the views on the combined 38" span is just beautiful. Maybe I shall just get that second 24" after all.FS9 still rocks and I love these add-ons with a passion. December 2, 200619 yr JSwould you know whether i would be able to use my 24" and get 2 19" Samsung and use this as my three monitor set up for TH2G0?using thishttp://www.matrox.com/graphics/en/gxm/support/th2go/tmet.php I7-10700F RTX 3070 32 Gig Ram
December 2, 200619 yr Author I am not sure whether you can use a mixture of Widescreen and regular 4:3 aspect ratio monitors together with TH2G and have a satisfactory image. It might work--or not. There's nothing to stop U from trying. Normally, the best image comes from 3x19" monitors set to 1280x1024; this is what TH2G was designed for. But some folks are running 3x24" widescreen panels at that lower resolution and happy with it. Whether you would have success running 2 mons of the "traditional" 4:3 aspect and 1 at 8:5 (the 24" DELL) I do not know. I wondered about the same thing. I thought about getting a second 20.1" LCD to go with my existing one and the 24" DELL. I have a feeling it will work, but might not look exactly right because all TH2G does is split the image into 3 signals for displaying on 3 (ideally) similar monitors.Shall we both try and do that ?!JS Jonathan Sacks Dell XPS Gen 4, Pentium IV Northwood extreme 3.8Ghz, 3Ghz RAM, eVGA 7900 GTO, 12 GoFlight modules plus MCP-PRO AP and EFIS, GF pedestal, CH rudder pedals, CH throttle quadrant, 42" LG LED, 24" DELL LCD, Windows XP, FS2004, FSUIPC 3.96 FS Autostart 1.1 (Build 11), FS Navigator 4.6, UT, FE, GE, REX, PMDG, Level-D, PSS, etc.
