November 15, 200619 yr I have been sent a very handsome time-bound discount coupon by DELL to buy another 24" LCD which I am strongly considering doing. However I cannot get anybody at any forum at DELL or elsewhere to assist me with these vital questions:Will I be able to successfully run 2x24" LCDs on my system and at a resolution that is acceptable?I have a DELL XPS Gen 4, 2GB RAM, 3.80 Ghz Intel 570 proc, eVGA 7900 GTO card with nVidia 91.47 drivers, 460W mean PSU (550W peak). At present I run a DELL 2405FP plus a DELL 2001 in "horizontal spanned" mode at a res of 3200x1200x32 for FS9. It's fantastic even though the scaling of both monitors is slightly different. On the 2405 FP, it's 16:10, on the 2001 FP, it's 16:9.I need to know if I can run two of these 24" LCDs on my system and at a res that will be correctly scaled. I don't know how the resolution is determined or how it gets slotted into the nVidia control panel and then FS9 or whether it is editable in any way.I appreciate any help here, many thanks!JS Jonathan Sacks Dell XPS Gen 4, Pentium IV Northwood extreme 3.8Ghz, 3Ghz RAM, eVGA 7900 GTO, 12 GoFlight modules plus MCP-PRO AP and EFIS, GF pedestal, CH rudder pedals, CH throttle quadrant, 42" LG LED, 24" DELL LCD, Windows XP, FS2004, FSUIPC 3.96 FS Autostart 1.1 (Build 11), FS Navigator 4.6, UT, FE, GE, REX, PMDG, Level-D, PSS, etc.
November 15, 200619 yr Doesn't Dell have a full refund minus return shipping refund for XX days policy? If so, the worst you will be out is return shipping costs.I'm not sure that the resolution of the 2405FP actually is, but in my experience with spanned mode and nVidia cards, if your video card can drive the monitor at native res on one output then it will run two spanned at that native res on two outputs. In the absence of any direct experience others may post on this, I'd say go for it.Edit: Just to add, FS9 and FSX will both auto detect the max screen res (including spanned resolutions) each time they start. In my case, if I run dual displays I get a 1680x1050 max res option and if spanned I get a 3360x1050 max res option.Gary 9800X3D | 4090 | 64GB | 2+1TB NVME | 2TB SSD | 2TB HDD | 85/50/43” TVs | Quest 3 | DOF H3 Motion Rig | Buttkicker | T.16000M Flight Kit MSFS @ 4K Ultra DLSS Performance FG 80 FPS | VR VDXR Godlike 80Hz SSW | MSFS VR DLSS Quality, Ultra Preset - Windows 11 Acer Nitro 5 | i5-11400H | RTX 3060 6 GB | 32GB DDR4 | 15.6" FHD IPS 144Hz | 2 x 512 GB SSD | Windows 11
November 15, 200619 yr Author The 2405 native res is 1920x1200 (it is the "primary" monitor in this case) and I think in my case it might have defaulted to "only" 3200x1200 because of the 2001FP's lower res of 1600x1200. But the question then is whether 2x2405's would run at an unholy 3840x1200 ?! Wow....! Possible ?You're right about returns and refunds. Thanks for the reminder. Might just try this and see--what the heck, eh?Thanks for your post, Gary, appreciated.JS Jonathan Sacks Dell XPS Gen 4, Pentium IV Northwood extreme 3.8Ghz, 3Ghz RAM, eVGA 7900 GTO, 12 GoFlight modules plus MCP-PRO AP and EFIS, GF pedestal, CH rudder pedals, CH throttle quadrant, 42" LG LED, 24" DELL LCD, Windows XP, FS2004, FSUIPC 3.96 FS Autostart 1.1 (Build 11), FS Navigator 4.6, UT, FE, GE, REX, PMDG, Level-D, PSS, etc.
November 26, 200619 yr any news on this JS? I too am interested in another 24" Dell I7-10700F RTX 3070 32 Gig Ram
November 26, 200619 yr Author Not yet Clayton. I just paid a credit card bill as tall as my house and feel too impoverished to proceed with another 24" LCD right now. I thought I'd look again around Xmas/New Year to see if DELL has another deal period. Or look after the New Year at their Outlet for a deal. It IS going to be another 24" LCD however, for sure, not 3x19 + Matrox.JS Jonathan Sacks Dell XPS Gen 4, Pentium IV Northwood extreme 3.8Ghz, 3Ghz RAM, eVGA 7900 GTO, 12 GoFlight modules plus MCP-PRO AP and EFIS, GF pedestal, CH rudder pedals, CH throttle quadrant, 42" LG LED, 24" DELL LCD, Windows XP, FS2004, FSUIPC 3.96 FS Autostart 1.1 (Build 11), FS Navigator 4.6, UT, FE, GE, REX, PMDG, Level-D, PSS, etc.

November 28, 200619 yr Author Yeah, I will post. I got distracted today thinking about a 42" HDTV LCD among other things. Then the DELL 30" LCD; and the ViewSonic 32" LCD....The temptations never end. November 28, 200619 yr i don't know what you have but i certainly have it! my hand in twitching to press "order" for the TH2Go and 3 19" LCD monitors!however i also have a 24 Dell i purchased last november!!:( I7-10700F RTX 3070 32 Gig Ram
November 28, 200619 yr Author I have been flipping and flopping a LOT these past 4-6 weeks over 2x24 or 3x19 + TH2G. The latter is costly as I have to buy everything from scratch whereas I only need 1 more 24" LCD so it works out about $500 cheaper or even more than that. A flightsim friend visited me this weekend and said hey you're wasting time looking at that small stuff. Look at a 42" LCD. Now somebody else has suggested a 1080p style HDTV-LCD but that is really costly. So once again I am not sure about anything and it all just costs...I am not sure if 3x19" will satisfy me visually either at this stage as I've used the 24" for 6 months and it's become my minimum visual size.JS Jonathan Sacks Dell XPS Gen 4, Pentium IV Northwood extreme 3.8Ghz, 3Ghz RAM, eVGA 7900 GTO, 12 GoFlight modules plus MCP-PRO AP and EFIS, GF pedestal, CH rudder pedals, CH throttle quadrant, 42" LG LED, 24" DELL LCD, Windows XP, FS2004, FSUIPC 3.96 FS Autostart 1.1 (Build 11), FS Navigator 4.6, UT, FE, GE, REX, PMDG, Level-D, PSS, etc.
November 28, 200619 yr Author It would help me a lot if I could just TRY this stuff before I buy any of it. I did see the TH2G set-up at AVSIM 06 and it was sensational. But it is also inflexible in that you can only use the VC--the 2D cockpits require re-sizing and it's all a logistical/visual headache to do that.I like the size and the flexibility of 2x24 in that you can do a horizontal span and revert back to Dual View for 2D cockpits. But it has that centerline issue as well and that requires a deflection of 3-5 deg with the hat switch--not impossible, by any means, but requires that work around for all centerline activity. I thought about asking a store like BEST BUY to let me hook up a rig with FS9 on it and try it on 4-5 very large LCD monitors. Don't know if they'd let me do that. Mebbe....?JS Jonathan Sacks Dell XPS Gen 4, Pentium IV Northwood extreme 3.8Ghz, 3Ghz RAM, eVGA 7900 GTO, 12 GoFlight modules plus MCP-PRO AP and EFIS, GF pedestal, CH rudder pedals, CH throttle quadrant, 42" LG LED, 24" DELL LCD, Windows XP, FS2004, FSUIPC 3.96 FS Autostart 1.1 (Build 11), FS Navigator 4.6, UT, FE, GE, REX, PMDG, Level-D, PSS, etc.
November 28, 200619 yr Hi,I have been reading this thread regarding triple head 2 go/dual 24 inch monitors/37 inch monitor with great interest. I am in a similiar situation. I am sorry I am not able to offer any advice or suggestions (I am just learning of th2go and using more than one monitor and have no personal experiences in this regard).I have been leaning towards a 3 X 19in monitor with TH2go set up, since, in my mind, it would give me a bigger "monitor" than a 37 inch (i.e. 3 X 19in = "57 inches" of monitor space which is bigger than 37 inches. I have discounted using a 2 X 24in monitor setup, since I think, for me, the bezel in the middle would bother and distract me too much.Does anyone know if it is possible to have a 37 inch monitor with the resolution set at 3840 x 1024 thus having a Th2go setup without any bezels that a 3 monitor setup would create? And another question I had is: would a th2go setup with 3 monitors and TrackIR be compatable?Last question, what do you all think of using just TrackIR with a 37 inch monitor? No bezels, and hopefully a wider view.Well, this is a great thread. Thanks for starting it, and I will be reading and hoping to get more ideas. 10850K, MSI Unify Z490, 32gb G.Skill Ripjaw 3600 CL16, MSI 5700 XT 8gb, Nochua NH-U12a, WD 500gb Black SSD (OS- Windows 10 Pro), Samsung 2tb Evo plus SSD (games), Superflower 850 watts power supply
November 28, 200619 yr hi JSyou see i don't have the problem you do, it sounds like you fly from 2D whereas i am VC junkie! but still there is alot of options available and all of them are expensive!i am in the same boat like you, i have a 24" so if i go the triplehead2go path what do i do with my 24"? November 28, 200619 yr Without a doubt the TH2GO and Track IR work together.http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...id=20883&page=5 Regards Howard H D Isaacs
