January 5, 200719 yr Greetings AllI'm not real sure but wanted to ask if a 32 screen would be ok with fs9.Cost of a good one is around 700 now with sale disc. of 300.To use the triple head I would need to buy a new video card 2 monitors and the 3headtogoany comments on what display might look like.I'm thinking the panels in cockpit view might be distortedBest regardsAndrew
January 6, 200719 yr Hi Andrew,I am thinking like you. A 32" would be a large screen without the interruption of monitor borders, which I think is a distraction.I'd like to hear what others think of this.Abe
January 6, 200719 yr Although with the one big screen, your resolution is going to be limited to at most 1920x1080 (assuming the 32" TV/Monitor supports resolutions that high). So while its a big picture, it isn't any higher res than a similar resolution LCD would give you. With the triple-head-2-go and 3 monitors (assuming 1280x1024 for each monitor) you get 3840x1024. On my main dev machine, I've got 2 1600x1200 20" LCDs and have the NVidia driver configured so it tells Windows (and FSX) that there is one really large monitor that does 3200x1200 and that works well also - depending on what I'm flying, if it has a center bar in the window or something, I try to pan the VC so that falls on the border between the 2 monitors.Timhttp://beatlesblog.spaces.live.com Tim http://fsandm.wordpress.com
January 6, 200719 yr Still cheaper to buy the TH2Go, 3 19 monitors and a decent nvidia card. You can get good monitors from ebay. I purchased 3 for 300 pounds. I also have a 32 inch for my glass cockpit display which leaves me 3 19 screens for the outside view. AWESOME. Keith Sandford.
January 6, 200719 yr Greetings all, GREAT NEWS just visited the Matrox website and found my video card ATI X850XT PE is now supported! Yippee I can hardley breath I am ordering now along with new monitors.I would suggest that all who have not recently checked compatability do so.Since I last visited their website they have added a bunch of ATI cardsBest regardsAndrew:-jumpy
January 7, 200719 yr Edit:after doing some more research and with the help of others here on Avsim it has been pointed out that most ATI cards would not give the higher resolutions in 3d gaming. After I ran the Matrox compatability tool it told me my card was supported and gave resolutions of 3840x1024.This from my understanding now is only in Windows 2dBack to the drawing boardAndrew
January 7, 200719 yr Andrew, it's probably worth sending a message to Matrox to check, because they have been continually upgrading their card support, and they may finally have cracked the ATI limitation, either by their own software update or by a combination of that and the latest ATI driver update..This is an excellent example of why Matrox should have kept the support forum going - you could have asked the question and everyone would have seen the answer.--Bryn
January 9, 200719 yr Hmmmm....No one has an answer for the original question?I was hoping to see some feedback from folks who have actually tried this. I recently bought a 32" Samsung, but thus far haven
January 9, 200719 yr Greetings All, Well I did alot of research and decided the only way to do this right (for ME) was to purchase another video card and the Matrox 3head2go. I took the plunge tonight.Got an Nvidia BFG7800GS which imho is the best agp card out there and went for it.Now just need some Samsung 19's and thats that.Started building the new cockpit via our woodshop already. You know I'm pretty excited.Thought about this for quite a while.Glad I made a decision. As stated in my other post I now have enough parts with exception of a box and network cards to build another tower with an additional monitor or 2 for gauge panels. Thanks to all the great info you guys share here.It has been nothing short of an education for me and this wonderful hobby i love so muchBest regardsAndrewDamascus Pa:-wave
January 11, 200719 yr Charlie,I am using a Viewsonic N3250w 32" LCD TV/Monitor for my computer display, and HD TV viewing. Although the max resolution for this Monitor is 1360 X 768 I find the image very crisp and sharp. It makes a huge difference running my FSX with, both, VGA or DVI connection (The Viewsonic has multiple inputs, including an HDMI, VGA, Component cables, etc....) I have 2 computers, HD Cable box and an external DVD hooked up to my system and have a great choice of entertainment as well as a great computer monitor. Pete S. January 11, 200719 yr Thanks, Pete. That's the kind of feedback I was hoping for. Do you run FSX in 4:3 mode or wide screen?
January 11, 200719 yr I fly strictly in the VC with my TrackIR 4. Widescreen is the only way to go! It is absolutely incredible on this 32" LCD! I don't think I could ever go back to a smaller screen! Pete S.
