  1. Well, I finally found some time to put my new system together: Here's what I got to mount into my pre-existing be quiet case with 850Watt GameMax power supply (Love that case). Gigabyte Aorus X870 Elite WiFi7 Motherboard AMD 9800X3D CPU 64GB of GSkill 6000 DDR5 Ram ( I thought I bought 32GB but it was 64GB ) Samsung 990 EVO 2TB PCIe 5X4 NVMe Drive. not the fastest, but I think it'll do Thermalright Liquid cooler Still waiting on my MSI nVidia 5070TI to come back from MSI. Not the fastest system, didn't want to go overboard, but should be enough to run FS2024 nicely.
  2. Ive put together at least 15 systems, mostly Intel CPU's. This has been my most challenging build yet, mainly due a to a defective MSI 5070 TI. The AMD 9800x3D finally came in. I decided on Gigabyte Aorus x800 Elite WIFI 7 Motherboard, 32GB RAM and a 2TB Samsung 9800 nvme. Had to return the MB because of some problems with BIOS, but I think I have it all resolved except for the GPU, that hopefully I'll have back soon! I should have the new system put together tomorrow, so I can download the FS2024, although I won't attemt to run it with the on-board graphics. It's like I said, this was my most challenging PC build ever, if anthing could go wrong, it did.
  3. Well, it looks like getting my 7 9800X3D is becoming a problem. After waiting for a month to receive the Processor from Amazon, the vendor is no longer available, and the sale has been passed on to another vendor that is also a third-party. I got tired of it all and requested a refund so that I could order it from a local vendor. Meanwhile, the price is coming down! Hopefully, I'll get my build done soon, I just need the CPU! Starting to get frustrated looking at the box full of components waiting for the build.
  4. The prices on 7 9800x3d are all over the place. I ordered one on Amazon for $499, but it won't be here for a couple more weeks. It's coming from a third-party vendor from China. I'm starting to see them for $489 everywhere and even as low as $439 on Amazon with a delivery date in early June. I'm not too sure of the vendor that I ordered from, he has some low reviews, but as long as Amazon backs the sale, I should be okay. We'll see.
  5. Thanks Bob. I was just checking the 9800x3d out, and you convinced me to save on the CPU. I may also trim the memory to 32GB. I love Avsim and the cogent advice I get here. Do you think the 5070Ti will run the sim okay? If I can sell my present equipment on EBay I may actually save more than I expected. Thanks Richard. Unfortunately, my equipment is a couple of generations behind, so I would like to catch up with the tech, with the possibility of selling the older tech. The FS2020 and 2024 requires a lot more horsepower than I have at this time.
  6. https://www.bing.com/search?q=3080ti+vs+5070ti+oc+plus&form=ANSPH1&refig=DF0AD2571C92425DBA4D8E983FA8CD24&pc=U531&adppc=EDGEXST I ordered one to put in the new PC I'm building for FS2024
  7. Hello, everyone. I am returning to flight swimming after losing my wife five years ago. The last flight sim I owned was MSFS 2020, but I never dove into it due to my wife's illness and other reasons. I just bought FS2024, and now I'm planning on a new PC build, which will consist of:Ryzon 9 9950X3D, Gigabyte B650 Aorus Elite Motherboard, 64GB G.Skill Trident RAM, Crucial 2TB NVME M.2 SSD. I'm trying to keep the costs to a minimum, so I'm choosing a 16GB 5070Ti. Should I choose Ryzen 7 7800 and 32MB of RAM instead? But, I want to keep up with technology as much as I can. Will this run my FS2024 well? Any critique and suggestions welcome.
  8. Thank you for he Heads Up, I just ordered it. From what I can gather it will work on the PC Windows as well as the XBox. hopefully that is so. I'm in the process gathering parts to build a new PC for the Flight sim. So this will work out great for me.
  9. Has anyone tried running Reality Sim Scenery - Seattle on FSX? It looks good, but I wonder how it will run on FSX/ FSX SE? Is it a frame and VAS killer?
  10. Thanks everyone, I finally got into the REX support forum, and they are looking into why I'm unable to install/upgrade my Soft Clouds. Hopefully I'll have a resolution soon.
  11. I tried all this, but keep getting an error saying that I need a newer version of Softclouds. That is what I'm trying to find, but so far all I get is REX and softcloud updates and SPs which I cannot install because I don't have the softclouds program installed. I'm in a catch 22 situation!
  12. Does anyone know if REX has a website where their customers can download purchased programs, besides SPs and updates? I just tried to reinstall my REX softclouds on my newly built PC, with FSX-SE. The file I got when I purchased Softclouds, last year, does not install any longer. The only files I am able to find on their sites are updates, and cannot be used unless softclouds is already installed. I had no problems installing REX 4 Texture Direct, but cannot get Softclouds to install. I tried leaving a message on their support forum, but can't check if my message got posted. Their forums are cryptic and too difficult to navigate to get any timely answers!
  13. Well I guess nobody has an answer! Never Mind 'cause I just built a new system: Asus Z97-A/USB3.1 Water Cooled Intel 4790K @4.4 EVGA GFX980 Windows 10 FSX-SE Everything running like a charm!
  14. After having too many problems with my FSX installation, I decided to uninstall FSX and format the drive that held it. After doing the above I am unable to get FSX and Acceleration installed, my system will not to run the "autorun.inf" file on the installation disc. I finally got FSX installed by running the "Check Disc" file, but the acceleration disc will not install running the Setup.exe, it goes through the motions but never installs! I don't know what happened to my Win 7 but for some reason it's refusing to autorun the "autorun.inf" files. I've googled this problem and tried every suggestion, to no avail! Unless someone here knows what might have happened, I'll have to re-install the Win 7 64 Home Premium, with all of the extras I have on my system this will take several days and cause lots of headaches. The OS is auto running the Video and Audio Discs, but will not autorun the "autorun.inf" file on the data discs. Other than that the OS seems to be running with no problems! My external HD with all of my backup data bit the dust, so I'll have to do complete reinstall of Windows . Does anyone know what may be the reason for this anomaly and how to fix it? Maybe I should just go ahead and build the new system with Win10 OS that I have been contemplating. Could this be a sign from above? LOL Pete S
  15. I think I'll stick with the 4790K and GTX980. The 3960x is way overpriced and from what I was able to gather has no real advantage over the 4790k Overclocked, to justify the price tag, at least not in FSX!
  16. My present system consists of: Intel I7 - 3770k running at 3.50 Asus P8z77-V Pro nVidia GTX 570 16GB GSkill Ripjaws X DDR3 1600 CL9. FSX runs fairly well, but gets overloaded and stutters depending on what I'm running in FSX. I'm ready to upgrade to a 4790K, GTX 980 or 980 Ti and an Asus MB (haven't settled on which one yet. I'll probably upgrade to GSkill 2133 or 2400 memory and water cooling to o'clock the CPU to 4.8 The Boss is ok with this, bless her heart!
  17. I am considering a new build for FSX. My question is: Is the GTX 980TI worth the extra $250, as compared to the GTX 980 when it comes to FSX? Since FSX is mainly CPU dependent do I really need the extras of the "TI"? Your opinions please Pete S.
  18. I think I will stick with the onboard sound, since it looks like a dedicated sound card is more of a vanity item, for an FSX System anyway. Thanks everyone for your opinions. Pete S.
  19. I am curious: I have an Asus P8 Z77-V Pro Motherboard with I7-3770K (not oc) running a Boxed FSX. I am presently using the Onboard sound which I find delivers a good sound through a digital connection to an external amplifier and surround speakers. Will I gain anything by installing a dedicated sound card? Are there any reasons to do it?
  20. Ok, thanks guys. Guess I'll just stick with Manhattan X.
  21. I just checked Simplanet who have excellent prices on Drzewiecki Design software sale, looking for New York City X, but could not find it listed there. They Have Miami City X for $14 and lots of airports at 30% off, including the New York City X Airports for $20, which I picked up, but no New York City X itself. Very Strange... I would love to pick it up for $14, just to compare it to Aerosoft's Manhattan X. Anyone know who has it at that price?
  22. Thanks Guys, That's what I though, since they didn't trigger the anti virus on my other machine! I guess I am paranoid, especially since I just had to restore my system after picking up a "bug" a couple of months ago.
  23. Just purchase the L1011 and all CS777 FSX versions (777Base Pack, 777-300 and 777F) Unable to download any of the 777s, AVG is reporting Win32/HEUR virus! L1011 downloaded just fine. Anyone else using AVG Anti virus have this problem? Is it just a false alarm? I hate turning off the Anti virus unless I know it's safe!
  24. Not quite! Just checked their site, most of their sceneries are only %15 off. KIAH has no discount, and it looks like there's VAT charged on every sale, whether there is VAT in your country or not! SimPlanet is still a better deal.
