3 Mo. Old CH Prod. Yoke Had To Go Back

Featured Replies

I just had to pack up my USB Flight Sim Yoke from CH Products and send it back after less than 3 months of use because the No. 3 button and the lower 180 degree radius of the hat switch suddenly don't work. No reason, just stopped working. I uninstalled, reinstalled, recalibrated, and even went so far as to install a virgin copy of FS04 on my wife's computer and try to use the yoke there so there would be no addons to confuse the diagnostics, and no luck; the switches are just dead.Is this a common occurence with this product? It's the controller that nailed flight simming as a hobby for me, and I've gotten so I can't (or at least don't want to) fly without it. I'm just wondering if I'm going to have to worry about switches dying on me or springs breaking every 2 or 3 months and I don't see that there are many alternatives out there.I don't mean this to be a flame of the company or anything, but I was surprised this happened so quickly. And I was even more surprised to hear that, even though the product was defective, I had to pay for shipping both ways, wait for them to "fix it" and then send it back 7 to 10 days, and that they didn't volunteer to send me a new one, like some of my other "tech toy" suppliers do as a regular part of their business. Anyway, I'm grounded for the time being and have decided that I'm going to use the time to learn how to do repaints, learn more about the AI environment, and improve my flying technique, but I was wondering if this is something I just kind of need to get used to if I continue to use this product. Thanks for any feedback or insight from the group.Chuck B.KPHL, KVAY

Not had any trouble with mine.I guess it is their option to repair or replace, I can understand why they would want to try to repair first as these are not exactly cheap items.

No, they are an excellent company. I have had my Yoke, Throttle Quadrant, Pedals for years and still work great. I have been to their headquarters down here in San Diego. They are no fly-by-night company. Sorry though to hear of your mis-fortune. I had a sticky yoke about two years ago. Drove over there and showed it to the Mgr of support. He grabbed it from me, walked in the back and about 2 minutes later had a brand new yoke in his hand and just gave to me as a replacement with his compliments!... boy did they just get a customer for life!Clutchproject 9 Dragons

HelloI would be quite pleased if my very old and much used Gameport CH pro Pedals would gracefully die.Just so i could justify a new USB set.Over the years i have owned and stlll have a Virtual Pilot Pro yoke ( gameport) a Flightsim Yoke 3 lever (USB) Pro Pedals (gameport) Flightstick Pro Joystick (gameport) CH Throttle quadrant (USB) and the CH Force Feedback Joystick ( Huge and a work of art sadly left behind due lack of support in modern OS.Not one item has given a moments problem in all the years i have had them, Great Products , Great company

Don't know how common it is, but you're certainly not alone. I bought one of those things a couple of years ago. It failed within a month of my buying it. Don't recall exactly which buttons went, but it was generally the same complaint as you describe. When I discovered that getting it fixed involved paying the return shipping (from Toronto), I swore loud enough to offend the lady upstairs and threw the thing away. While I do have other CH products, I have not bought another yoke.Doug
