June 26, 200718 yr You can go direct to the Microsoft site at:http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=936357This implies that it's applicable to any Intel processor. I can't see any mention of multi-core processors. Can anyone confiorm this? Gerry Howard
June 26, 200718 yr I've got an E6600. Is this something I need to download or should I only do that if I'm having problems? What's microcode reliability?
June 26, 200718 yr As I recall, there were some users with C2D's who experienced a steady degredation in performance when flying longer flights - I wonder if this somehow was a contributing factor to that problem?I would imagine installing it on one of the non-effected C2D systems would be a non-event, but I would probably avoid installing it if you run an AMD. -Greg

June 29, 200718 yr This is an intel micro code update for Intel chips only If you runMS updates then you will get this automatically, go to the listof installed updates and check the KB number. You could letMS patcher check your machine for updates and it will see thisas a critical update if it is applicable to your machine.Tom
July 3, 200718 yr I installed this update on my Vista 32 E6700 machine and started getting blue screens while on the internet with IE7. I uninstalled the "update" and haven't had a blue screen since. If it ain't broke....don't fix it!!!! System: Rysen 7-9700X, MSI Pro X870-P WiFi AM5 Motherboard, Team T-Force Delta 64 GB DDR5 6000 Mhz, Corsair RM1000x80 PLUS Gold, Gigabyte GeForce RTX 4070 Super Windforce 12GB OC, NVIDIA Drivers 610.47, 2TB WD Blue SN580 NVMe m.2 SSD for Windows 11 Home, 2TB WD Black SN850X NVMe m2 SSD for MSFS & Steam, LG 27GX700A-B 280 Hz OLED 27" 2560x1440 280Hz Monitor, Thrustmaster Airbus flight stick, Logitech M510 wireless Mouse.
July 3, 200718 yr FWIW, I installed it on my E6700 while reverting back from Vista-U to WinXP during a clean-install. I can't say it specifically did anything but I can tell you, right now I'm the happiest I've ever been with FSX so it doesn't appear to have any drawbacks. Regards, Al Jordan | KCAE
July 3, 200718 yr Well, I had installed the latest bios for my computer right after purchasing it so I wonder if the "fix" was included with that bios update and perhaps adding the patch created some conflicts that caused my blue screens? Anyway, since removing it all seems to be well again.
