September 26, 200718 yr So the pro flight yoke system is schedule to be released in early october. I placed my order with dell about 3 weeks ago (pre-order) and to my surprise I found a huge DHL box in my front door yesterday. Well, guess what..I got my pro yoke system! :-jumpy I recently boughta new computer (fast enough for my fav aircraft (CS 727 - LVLD 767 - F1 Super 80), and just got done setting up the sim and add on aircrafts, liveries, etc. Now, I just got done with that, and BAM, here is the yoke! Its like a dream! I just dont understand how I got it. Its not out yet, is it?I got it all set up, and configured. I loaded up the CS 727, and WOW...what a great feel...the yoke is AWESOME..very smooth. Its actuallya lot easier to fly (specially on landing, than with any other joystick (i've had a cheap logitech, and the saitek X45 system).I definitely reccomend the pro yoke system. The throttle quadrant is awesome as well.Diego
September 27, 200718 yr They've been shipping shipping for about 2 weeks now. Demand is high and most new orders made will be placed on back order for 4 to 6 weeks. I'm patiently awaiting mine. It will be a nice addition to my Uber-2 Modded Thrustmaster Hotas Cougar.
September 27, 200718 yr I just got mine yesterday as well (right from Amazon, ordered Monday, had it Wednesday btw). I didn't really try out the throttle as I already have the CH quadrant (although I'm tempted to order a 2nd one of theirs). Only had a short time with the yoke, spent most of the time fine tuning the sensitivity (this is the first controller that has not been way too sensitive out of the box, which is very nice). As with most Saitek stuff, it is a great bang for the buck. It won't be confused with the really high end stuff, but it is great for those of us who don't want to spend quite as much. Compared to the CH yoke, it feels much, much better. I never liked the CH yoke, it just felt too clunky or something. With the Saitek yoke I was able to do a nice steady climbing turn without bouncing all over the place. In the past I have used the X52 to fly, which I like but of course a yoke is so much more appropriate for most flying I do (ga stuff). I did have some initial frustrations out of the box. First off, there are no instructions on how to put the base on. Maybe it was obvious to some, but I couldn't figure out how to put the base on the yoke until I looked at the box. The base for the throttle screws on and was easy, but I was looking for the same on the yoke but couldn't find it. Figured out that it just slides in the front, and then was good to go.Also, mounting the thing on a desk was fun. I read about the big clamp on the bottom, so I was prepared for that. One of the other threads talked about getting some separate clamps for the thing which might work. I just mounted it on my keyboard tray itself which works out well. Actually, that probably simulates a cramped GA cockpit better anyway. The unexpected issue was how deep the yoke goes. My keyboard tray just barely pulls out far enough so that the back fits in front of the desk. It was also too tall to fit under the desk... Something to keep in mind for people with smaller desks. My computer desk is really big, and it still barely fit. It is hard to describe, but I could see it not fitting some desks. Those problems are solved though, and so far am happy with my yoke! I really want to go out and replace my old CH pedals with Saitek's as well... ------------------------- Craig from KBUF
September 27, 200718 yr This may be helpful to some people with smaller desks - I bought these "velcro" squares (1x1 inch) they are sticky on both sides. You can find it at any craft stores. Even some hardware stores. I put 6 under my new yoke, and just velcroed to the desk. It doesnt move at all, and I didnt need to use their mounting hardware. Its very firm. (Note that since its velco, you can remove it if you need to)D.-
September 27, 200718 yr That's the problem with all yokes. They are in the way when you want to use your keyboard. ??I have never understood how people avoid that problem. ??Isn't it a hassle to constantly move the yoke from desk-to-storage and back to desk again? And what if you want to operate your nav radio? Tune to 117.60 by (keyboard) N, 1, +. Oops! My yoke is in the way. Let me reach around it and try to peck at the keys.RhettAMD 3700+ (@2585 mhz), eVGA 7800GT 256 (Guru3D 93.71), ASUS A8N-E, PC Power 510 SLI, 2gb Corsair XMS 3-3-3-8 (1T), WD 150 gig 10000rpm Raptor, WD 250gig 7200rpm SATA2, Seagate 120gb 5400 rpm external HD, CoolerMaster Praetorian Rhett 7800X3D ♣ 96 GB G.Skill Flare ♣ Gigabyte 4090 ♣ Crucial P5 Plus 2TB
September 27, 200718 yr Rhett- The yoke/keyboard conflict is easy to solve! I built a little KB shelf mounted by simple brackets bent back to a 70
September 27, 200718 yr Rhett - I have the keyboard drawer occupying 2/3rds of the length of the table on one side (right). The yoke is mounted directly on the rest 1/3rd table (left side). This way, I move my TFT screen in front of the yoke for simming (Pedals are below the desk on the left). At other times the screen is in front of the keyboard drawer (right side). It also helps that the keyboard and mouse are wireless, and hence easy to move around while simming.Keith
September 27, 200718 yr >That's the problem with all yokes. They are in the way when>you want to use your keyboard. ??>>I have never understood how people avoid that problem. ??Well, basically I don't use the keyboard :)I get every function somehow programmed to a button somewhere, or use the mouse. Yes, it is a pain though. I did this with my old CH yoke for awhile, now I will be doing it again with this yoke. I haven't perfected my setup yet, but as it is now, I can't really reach the keyboard at all. ------------------------- Craig from KBUF
September 27, 200718 yr That's amazing, because I am primarily a keyboard flier. Always have been for about 20 years. :)I do own a "CH Products Flight Sim Yoke" that I bought about 6 years ago, but I find myself not using it as much as I'd like...because it interferes with my keyboard.RhettAMD 3700+ (@2585 mhz), eVGA 7800GT 256 (Guru3D 93.71), ASUS A8N-E, PC Power 510 SLI, 2gb Corsair XMS 3-3-3-8 (1T), WD 150 gig 10000rpm Raptor, WD 250gig 7200rpm SATA2, Seagate 120gb 5400 rpm external HD, CoolerMaster Praetorian Rhett 7800X3D ♣ 96 GB G.Skill Flare ♣ Gigabyte 4090 ♣ Crucial P5 Plus 2TB
September 27, 200718 yr My CH yoke and the KB BESIDE it are a good team!! I have typed small labels for many keys- at my age I need reminders!!!Alex Reid CYYJ
September 28, 200718 yr I've got one of these http://www.keyboardco.com/keyboard_images/...ck_rf_small.jpg in addition to my main keyboard and it should sit nicely on top of the yoke when it comes. And it's cordless...
September 28, 200718 yr That's a great idea with the keyboard. Even my rather big Logitech G15 fit up there ok. A little unstable, but it worked well enough. A smaller keyboard would be perfect up there. I did some more flying with the yoke and I really like it. I'm still working out all the assignments with the buttons though. I seem to have things turning on and off for no good reason. Like autopilot on landing... ------------------------- Craig from KBUF
September 29, 200718 yr I now have a very serious problem with the Saitek Yoke...After flying more, I now want to go out and buy an extra throttle set and the rudder pedals as well! Great controller! I missed what it was like to fly with a yoke... ------------------------- Craig from KBUF
