I have a quad and run just fine on all 4 cores. If you're having trouble, it's NOT with your quad - something else is wrong.Q6600 G0 CPU 2.4 o/c 3.6Evga 680i A1 with P30 BIOS 2G XP2-8500 DDR2 1066FSB Mushkin 996535 RAM 5-5-4-12-2T320G 7200 HD partitioned for XP/Vista/Programs 2 - 74G Raptors in RAID0 500G 7200 HD for backup SATA DVD burner Evga 8800GTS 640 PCIx Kandalf LCS case w/ built in liquid cooling 850W Thermaltake power supplyVisit the Virtual Pilot's Centerwww.flightadventures.comRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/

I don't know, Gary - I got the same impression( you would not get Vista) when I first read ytour post and was about to make the same comment. Gary-I want to thank you for starting this thread. Not only for being a true gentleman in the apology you gave above, but in getting me to try some different settings on my lowly 7600 card and 4 year old system after I gave you that nvidia list.I've only had fsx for over a year now-but somehow I managed to tweak another 10 fps to my satisfaction-I am getting a solid mid 25-30 fps now on this aging setup-with a few more compromizes I can well live with. When the next greatest chip comes out-I will make the move to upgrade but I am more than satisfied right now. Thanks for getting me to get in there and tweak a little more.http://mywebpages.comcast.net/geofa/pages/rxp-pilot.jpgForum Moderatorhttp://geofageofa.spaces.live.com/

Form, is but the manifestation of inner contentment.

>Even without DX10 and Vista, the 8800 is still one heck of a>DX9 performer. Unfortunately for us flight sim nuts, FS is>not one of the titles that benefits from the DX9 power of the>8800. I know this first hand, as I upgraded from a 7900 to an>8800 and noticed neglible improvement in FS9 and FSX, but I do>see the benefit in other DX9 titles. >>GaryExactly, the 8800 is still about the best DX9 card out there, and you get DX10 thrown in too we don't all just play flight simulator.Couldn't be more pleased with my 8800 and definitely don't consider it a waste of money.

>I turn a few up and a few down from that settings page-but>the interesting thing I think is they recommend setting on>unlimited.>>From the beginning doing otherwise has always brought me>stutters and a few fps less.I know you do (run unlimited)...and I can tell you also, what is even MORE INTERESTING, is that if I try unlimited, I get blurries. However when I use a frame lock, I get the best of both worlds = smoothness AND crisp textures.Perhaps it is because I have a single core machine. It won't be too many more months 'til I spring for a Quad though.RhettAMD 3700+ (@2585 mhz), eVGA 7800GT 256 (Guru3D 93.71), ASUS A8N-E, PC Power 510 SLI, 2gb Corsair XMS 3-3-3-8 (1T), WD 150 gig 10000rpm Raptor, WD 250gig 7200rpm SATA2, Seagate 120gb 5400 rpm external HD, CoolerMaster Praetorian

I have the quad and I get very slight hesitations every now and then if I run unlimited.Q6600 G0 CPU 2.4 o/c 3.6Evga 680i A1 with P30 BIOS 2G XP2-8500 DDR2 1066FSB Mushkin 996535 RAM 5-5-4-12-2T320G 7200 HD partitioned for XP/Vista/Programs 2 - 74G Raptors in RAID0 500G 7200 HD for backup SATA DVD burner Evga 8800GTS 640 PCIx Kandalf LCS case w/ built in liquid cooling 850W Thermaltake power supplyVisit the Virtual Pilot's Centerwww.flightadventures.comRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/

Hi Gary I dont know if you solved your problem or not but what I did and worked with my GeForce 8800 gtx was to disable the write combining in the display properties.Carlos
