November 12, 200718 yr Gary,Thanks for the link!Next question to ya'll. For those whith 79XX cards, is anyone still using pre 8xxx series drivers in conjunction with SP2? Also, I've installed FS9 just for kicks, and noticed with these drivers, my night textures look 8 or 16 bit, even with everything from desktop to sim at 32 bit...is anyone having a happy medium with both sims, or is it getting to be one or another where drivers are concerned?FYI, my specs are:Dell XPS400 2.4 ghz dual core XP Home SP22 gig ramEva 7950GT 512 PCIeViewSonic 22" wide screen flat panelThanks all,
November 12, 200718 yr Actually, my FS9 BSODs after 10-20mins now with these drivers. Well, I think it is them anyway. November 12, 200718 yr Just wanted to give an update; I've been messing with older drivers, as far back as the 94.24s, and with FSX and Acceleration (sp2) installed; I still get the CTDs when bringing up the tool bar in Full Screen mode. I've tried various tricks (pause, unpause, no mouse just key strokes) and still, CTD.So, unless someone can tell me how to run in Window'ed mode by making a change in my fsx.cfg file, I've got no other route otherthan to uninstall Acceleration. Thanks all,KenDell xps400 2.4 ghz duel core; XP home SP22 gig ramNvId 7950GT 512 pcieDrivers: 94.24, 93.81, 163.75....none work
November 12, 200718 yr You can switch from full screen to windowed mode by hitting ALT-ENTER.Interestingly, yesterday I had Acceleration lock up on me accessing the menu in full screen after nearly a week of having no such problem. The only think different of note was that I finally registered my copy of Acceleration (I was putting it off as I am installing Vista 64 next week and did not want to unnecessarily use up my allowable registrations).Gary 9800X3D | 4090 | 64GB | 2+1TB NVME | 2TB SSD | 2TB HDD | 85/50/43” TVs | Quest 3 | DOF H3 Motion Rig | Buttkicker | T.16000M Flight Kit MSFS @ 4K Ultra DLSS Performance FG 80 FPS | VR VDXR Godlike 80Hz SSW | MSFS VR DLSS Quality, Ultra Preset - Windows 11 Acer Nitro 5 | i5-11400H | RTX 3060 6 GB | 32GB DDR4 | 15.6" FHD IPS 144Hz | 2 x 512 GB SSD | Windows 11
November 12, 200718 yr Gary,Thats the problem, as soon as I hit the "alt" key, she locks up and within about 30 seconds, CTD. Thanks though,Ken
November 12, 200718 yr >>Anyway, I recommend to use driver cleaner before installing>>this one.>>>>What's the best driver cleaner to use? Does it actually make>any difference?I'm suprised people still swear by driver cleaners and the like. Do you think nVidia are unable to write an install program that doesn't fully install their own drivers but instead relies on, but does not tell anyone, that to get the best of of their cards and drivers they should instead use an application from a third party that is better at removing their own drivers than their own software...?

November 13, 200718 yr Yes you are right. When I go forward, I don't do it.But Windows uninstall is known to leave a lot of jitter behind. So when I go backwards to test an older driver, sometimes windows may just refuse to overwrite a newer file, and you may have a incompatibity issue. So not to lose time with troubleshooting, I make sure there is nothing left of the old drivers. Takes me only one reboot into safe mode , and that is no big deal. The only thing those programs do, is physically remove the bits left by the uninstall program.Jan
November 13, 200718 yr A quick update here so I don't lead people astray. My FS9 BSODs turn out to be caused by PC-Cillin Antivirus rather than video drivers. Gotta love conflicts like this - NOT!Gary 9800X3D | 4090 | 64GB | 2+1TB NVME | 2TB SSD | 2TB HDD | 85/50/43” TVs | Quest 3 | DOF H3 Motion Rig | Buttkicker | T.16000M Flight Kit MSFS @ 4K Ultra DLSS Performance FG 80 FPS | VR VDXR Godlike 80Hz SSW | MSFS VR DLSS Quality, Ultra Preset - Windows 11 Acer Nitro 5 | i5-11400H | RTX 3060 6 GB | 32GB DDR4 | 15.6" FHD IPS 144Hz | 2 x 512 GB SSD | Windows 11

If you want to abuse yourself, why don't you stand there and let me beat you with a stick? What on earth are you testing and why would anyone "uninstall" Windoze? I do not understand your logic. If nVidia is incapable of making a program that will remove their own driver, why would you trust them to make a reliable driver? I have more faith in nVidia's uninstaller than I do in some 3rd party's hack, ripping through my registry with reckless abandon. Why would you punish yourself uninstalling/reinstalling windoze and changing drivers? There are much better (and more effective ) ways to tweak your system.EwingKATLAlcohol, Tobacco and Firearms should be a store, not a government agency.MSI K8N Neo2 PlatinumAMD Opteron 185 2.6 Ghz Dual Core2GB Kingston HyperX (2X1GB) Dual Channel DDR 2-3-2-6 @ 1TXFX nVIDIA GeForce 7900 GS 256MB DDR3 AGPSound Blaster Audigy LSSilverStone Decathlon 750W +12v@60A +5v@30AFS9 on WinXPPro (SP1)
