Gigabyte Overclock- thoughts on further performance.......

I guess that would be fine, if he could up his multiplier to 10. The E6850 multiplier is locked at 9 and cannot be increased beyond that point. Only thing that can be done is to increase the FSB. To attempt 4GHz would mean raising the FSB to 444Mhz.

Avari-Cooper BAW0225Those are pretty much the same temps I get on both of my cores when fully loaded. I am also at 3.6Ghz.

You can't change the multiplier on a non-extreme Intel processor. It's locked at 9.

Interesting temperature info SamI am currently running at 3.35Ghz and 1.365 volts. Both Prime 95 and FSX/PMDG747 CYYZ approach push core 0 to peak 66C (core 1 a couple of degrees lower). This measured with Speedfan, CoreTemp and the Intel Thermal Analysis tool which all concur within a degree.Idle is around 55C.Judging by your core temperatures there is plenty of room for 'expansion'.

Maybe you folks can help me: FSX runs great for me without an OC but just for the heck of it I've been experimenting with Overclocking. With even a modest overclock I get video artifacts in FSX. At stock speed of 3.0 Ghz no problems and smooth sailing. All temps for graphics card and processor remain within normal ranges. Specs below. Those 7950's didn't overclock worth ####. That's where your artifacts are coming from. Try doing your CPU/mobo alone.

All I did was change the FSB to 350 x 9 for a modest OC to approx 3.1 and I get the artifacts. Didn't touch the 7950. Craig
