Hi, mine are set to 200 for the time being, but the microstutters are still there. I have tried the default 40, 80, 100, 200, 300, 400 but all with the same output. I have 2gigs of my old DDR 400 memory in a box somewhere, should I swap out my DDR2 667 memory for the DDR 400 and see what happens? I would assume that nothing will happen. Bill- I've often wondered if there is a significant relationship between RAM and GPU memory- both in size and speed. I've speculated that a major imbalance between them might cause strange things! Would be really interested to hear the results of your proposed RAM switch.Alex Reid

Barking up the wrong tree there. If the ram was the issue it would have been that way since the ram was installed. Ram rarely affects anything in performance like a stutter, Usually the stick is bad and its bad. CTD's errors on closing programs, out of memory loops. etc.But the good thing is that it costs nothing to try and is quick. Why not try a benchmark test like 3dMark? before and after the ram change..

Hmm, what about changing the page file for the virtual memory? I heard from someone in the forums that their stuttering went away when increasing the page file. Can anyone walk me through it? There are an almost infinite amount of things that can cuase stutters. Bill, have you done all you can to eliminate spyware. In my experience, that's been one of the primary cuases of stutters on my system over the years. Another place to look is anti-virus software - make sure its set up in the least invasive way possible, or just turn it off completely while flying. I also found that adjusting the pci latency settings of the devices in my system seemed to smooth things out. I used an app called Latency Config (iirc)...If the stutters have only started occuring after a long period of using the sim without stutters, than something about yr system has changed to bring them about. Did you do any tweaking or install any add-ons in the approximate time period since they started?

The stutter would be there right after a fresh reformat of the drive. I installed windows and its updates, and installed FS9 with its patch. My system is spyware free, and virus free. I have deativated my antivirus and spyware when I use my sim and still have these microstutters during turns. I have set everything in the sim on its lowest settings (which really looks crappy) and even lowered the resoltion from 1400 X 1050 to 800 X 640 with no luck, the micro stuttering is still there. I have tried the drivers the video card came with, the 7.10 series drivers, 7.12 series drivers, and I highly doubt that the 8.1 with its AGP hotfix will clear the issue. I installed the latest FSUIPC and no luck with that either. I have GE Pro, Ultimate Terrain, and the free USA Mesh that you can download from avsim installed on my machine. I have uninstalled GE Pro no luck, uninstalled Ultimate Terrain USA, no luckm and even removed the USA mesh thinking that the extra mesh could be causing the microstutters, but even the default mesh will cause stuttering. I really never had this issue and the only time I would get choppyness with my old system which was when the frames would drop. Hmmm. OK, instead of dropping the visuals try raising them. Try running at a higher res for instance. I find that most modern cards actually don't like low resolutions. They are optimized to run at higher res. I'm stutter free on my new system at 1680x1050x32 and my vid card isn't nearly as good as yrs (its one of those low grade ATI Radeon HD2600 xt cards w/256 megs of vram). Are you locking the frames? If so, unlock and see what happens. Sometimes, it's all about finding that sweetspot for a particular hardware config...

I cant choose a higher resolution in FS9 Im maxout at 1400X1050X32. I have tried unlocking the frames however I can still tell when its microstuttering, plus I get more blurry textures on the ground. I have tried locking the frames from 21 thru 35. I have mine set to 30 since it nice and smooth 85% of the time with its not microstuttering during turns and banks. I frames stay at a nice 30 locked and rarley ever did below that, unless its really heavy weather and at KLAX or a big airport like that.Thanks for the reply,Bill
