FS9 Stutters continue

Yeah, but does PCI latency affect any PCI-E cards? I was under the impression that the latency couldn't be changed for these vid cards.

>Yeah, but does PCI latency affect any PCI-E cards? I was>under the impression that the latency couldn't be changed for>these vid cards.Oh, my Asus mobo (Asus P5W DH Deluxe), have a PCI latency setting available, and I've allways believed that this apply to the PCI-E. You definitely learn something new every day :-) I'm sorry for giving a bad advice.Ulf BCore2Duo X6800 3.3GHz4GB RAM Corsair XMS2-8500C5BFG 8800GTX, Creative SB X-FiFSX Acc/SP2, Vista 32

I was just curious to know if PCI latency works with AGP cards.Bill

Yes, its an older program actually. I have used it on my AGP for a few years now. To what effect? I have nothing that says it either has increased or decreased anything.Again, it is not relevant to logically try and figure this out. You'll solve it by changing a setting or updating, down grading something. My hunch is starting to tell me that you have a process running in the background that is polling the processor at intervals. Since you have tried numerous "normal" things. What about that .cfg file? did you rebuild it?and did someone mention you OC your chip? Can you un-OC the chip to see what that does?

Ya, I have rebuilt the config several times, will try again and will also try unclocking the chip and see what happens. Thanks,Bill

Ok, i rebuilt the config and the stutters are sill there during turning and banking. The sim seem to smooth out once the stuttering is done during the turn, but its been like that ever since I reformatted the HD in Nov.Here is what my task manager looks like when I first start windows. Let me know of you see something there that looks like is the culprit for the resource. Mind you that I used Photoshop to convert the print screens to jpg.I set the CPU to default 2.00ghz and even set my AGP to 4X instead of 8X just for the heck of it...nothing changed except my frames where lower in the high 30s instead of the high 50s. The micros stuttering was still there haunting me....ahhhhhH!Thanks,Bill

Had a guy not to long ago that reformatted his HD and got stutters after that.Have you taken a look at that "services" link the guy gave you?and wth is a "Teatimer"? in your processes? I dont have that running in my processes..Might be time to look at the services more carefully...And heres the tip of the iceberg. You have "Apple mobile devices" running? Bill, Bill, Bill, you have a Teatime setup to have an Apple? LOLMy guess is you need to go through your msconfig start-up menu and shut down some stuff.

TeaTimer is a system monitoring plug-in for Spybot S/D that will prevent any unauthorized changes to the registry. I use to use it, but it now has been known to have some malicious activity bypass it somehow, I wouldn't use it anymore personally and it could cause or contribute to your issues (not to mentions some issues with your registry). At this point Bill, I would highly suggest using a system activity moniter like ProcessMon or FileMon while your flying to try and pinpoint what is actually occuring at the moment of your stutters. For example, I noticed when I use CC Cleaner or MRU Blaster to clean my usage history, I will see some stutters when Explorer will repeatedly check the User Assist entries in the registry and THEY are no longer there. Shows up repeatedly "not found" in ProcessMon and Explorer will keep checking for these entries for awhile. It seems after a couple of threads here and at other sim sites along with the differing opinions and advice, it might be time to go back to the basics and try one thing at a time and assess the results. I would hit google about truely optimizing your system, because if your still running things like Teatimer in the background while you fly, it could be best to expand your computer horizons a little. Not knocking security measures, but just trying to say all those small things come at a cost to the CPU and the system. Otherwise that FS-GS service might be well worth looking into. Good Luck. Edit: From your attachments, I noticed a ekrn.exe running in the background as well, which is NOD32 antivirus and found this that might interest you: http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=174917I personally never fly with AV on as it causes micro-stutters. I'm sure someone has mentioned that by now......... I also checked on LSSrvc.exe, which is for lightscribe on your burner and could be disabled until you need to use it.I found pnkbstra.exe which is for a completely different game(s) called Battlefield 2142 and America's Army. I also wouldn't be having this running while I'm flying then trying to figure out where my stutters are originating. Point is: I would look into learning how to truely optimizing your system first - if your getting stutters after that - then go back to looking at hardware. Hi Kendall, thanks for all those suggestions. I new about Teatimer, and every time I have flow I have disabled my spybot and disabled my NOD32. I have closed down the ekrn.exe file and the apple file too. Let hope that I will see some improvements on that.Thank you very much for your time in helping me with this. Will let you know of the results.Bill

Cool Bill hope it helps. I also then looked at your first attachment and see a slew of things that could be disabled at start up. Google the.exe names and you will see sites that tell you what that stuff is all about and whether its really needed. I am sure you will find many of your background processes can be shut down with no ill effects. Here's some sites I like for checking on things: http://www.theeldergeek.com/services_guide.htm - for serviceshttp://www.processlibrary.com/ - for processeshttp://www.blackviper.com/ - both Others may have some better suggestions. Hopes this helps solve your problem!Regards, Kendall#1: [email protected]/Coolermaster HyperTX2 Gigabyte P35-DS3L 4GB Crucial Ballistix Tracers PC6400 Seagate 250GB 7200.10 SATA2 Gigabyte X800XT -Cat 6.12's CH Yoke/Pedals/Saitek Throttle Dual Monitor: Dell 2405/1905 #2: Dell 8400 3.2 H.T. 3GB PC4200 Diamond Xtreme/Logitech X-530's

Do you think I could remove ekrn.exe from the startup too? Or would it effect my NOD32?Thanks,Bill

Bill, you dont have to remove it from the start up msconfig. There are check marks. Have you looked? Uncheck everything you don't need to make the computer run.

Are you talking abou the services tab in msconfig? Its the tab before the startup tab.Bill

I forgot to mention that my AGP Aperture in the BIOS is set to 256MB, I have changed it from 256, 128, 64 with no improvement in FS9. I also changed the AGP settings to auto and 33/66mz with no noticible improments in FS9 either.Bill

Services are either on, off or auto. I think. I havnt done much with mine. You can start in the "startup" tab. Look at what is in there and uncheck anything that you already know you wont need for FS. Like Apple anything. You don't need that to run XP. Bill, I'd recommend some Goggle-ing about basic XP functions as they relate to FS. Search for stutters in these forums and read everything. Then go over to Simviation and Flightsim forums and do the same thing. All of the answers we have given you here are already in the forums. The stutters in FS is nothing new. There is no magic bullet. You have to find out for yourself what YOUR specific issue is. There really is nothing else to tell you. You had another thread about stutters here and they guy basically said the same thing. Between these two, and searching, you should be able to fix it.Whatever you do, don't give up and re-format or re-install FS. That would suck if it was as simple as a check mark in msconfig.Good luck...
