OH MY GOD!

You've got to be freaking kidding me!After installing the below componants today, AND having to re-install VISTA. I loaded up FSX, nHancer, made the changes I did earlier this week and BAMMO! Taking off from Seattle with everything set at about 75 percent and 50 - 90 FPS. I couldn't and still can't belive my eyes. My jaw is STILL on the floor. I also loaded Call Of Duty 4 and hit a spike of 600 FPS. Please belive me, I am NOT exagerating. I do have a couple of issues tho. Blurry airplave textures and a little "shimmer" looking at the ground. It's that autogen scenery as it moves from one pixel line to another. Is there a way to get rid of this or lessen the effect? I also figured out that LIGHT BLOOM looks awesome at dusk but boy, is it a FPS killer. All I can say is WOW.TurnipSPECS:VISTA Home Basic 580 WATT Sunbeam PowerCrucial Ballistix 4GB(2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAMASUS P5N-E SLI LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 650i SLI ATX Intel Motherboard Intel Core 2 Duo E6550 Conroe 2.33GHz LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor Model BX80557E6550MSI nVidia NX8800GT 512 PCI-E 2.0SB LIVE 24250 GB WD SATA HD 120 GB WD IDE HD

Glad to hear :) My new E6750 and gang are arriving today. Rebuilding everything is a headache but sounds like it'll be well worth it. :)Jason

Turnip,You've achieved 50-90FPS with a 2.33GHz processor and a 8800GT! :-eek What are we all doing wrong? Perhaps you could post screenshots of your FSX settings and one showing the frame rate.Although I have a more powerful processor (and arguably graphics card) I cannot achieve those numbers with XP.And all this with a 32-bit version of Vista Basic! :-hmmm

Sounds to me like AA is not enabled, nor is the higher texture resolution function (slider) which is why the aircraft is a bit blurryhe needs to get that set up right and then it will be clear, no shimmers and frames where they belonghes just excited right now and has not gone through the setup

Nick,I temporarily disabled AA last night and it had no appreciable effect on frame rates. Most decent cards can run high AA with no significant reduction in performance. So that begs the question as to why the texture resolution would eat up so many cycles. When I get home I might see if I can replicate this.I don't blame him for being excited - I'd be over the moon too. Seems like he's due a big reality check very soon.:-eek

Wow turnip that is great to hear. Really makes me look forward to when I upgrade. Are you running mid-level sliders? 50-90 fps, sounds like you might be. !!Just goes to show what a clean, optimized build can do with FSX.RhettAMD 3700+ (@2585 mhz), eVGA 7800GT 256 (Guru3D 93.71), ASUS A8N-E, PC Power 510 SLI, 2gb Corsair XMS 3-3-3-8 (1T), WD 150 gig 10000rpm Raptor, WD 250gig 7200rpm SATA2, Seagate 120gb 5400 rpm external HD, CoolerMaster Praetorian

OK, here's what I did:Video Driver Version 7.15.11I set up everthing as per this link:http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...d=437662&page=2Originally when my FPS jumped that high, I had no weather loaded. However, that prooved to be almost a non-issue.I am running FRAPS as a secondary FPS counter and verified it with the one in FSX.FSX SETTINGS:RES 1690 X 1050 X 32FILTERING - AnisotropicAA - OffGlobal Texture - MediumLens falre & Adv Anim - CheckedA/C Global Settings - Ultra High3D Virt Cockpit - checkedHi-Res 3d Cp - CheckedAll 3 ext settings checkedSCENERYLOD - LargeMesh - 77Mesh Res - 19text res - 15Water - High 1Xland Detail Text - CheckedScenery complex - Very DenseAuto Gen - DenseSpecial Effects - MediumWEATHER Distance - 60Detalied Clouds - MaxD/Load Winds Aloft - CheckedWx change rate - MediumTRAFFICAirline 54General 5Airport minimumROAD, SHIPS, Leisure 15After the initial FPS boost, I tweek a bit to get better graphics and such. Now with these settings sitting on the tarmac at KSEA in a default 737, I stay between 30 and 40 FPS.ALSO, I loaded this flight before I put in SP1 and SP@ for FSX. SP@ DOUBLED my FPS. I couldn't believe it. I read somewhere that SP2 enables FSX to see dual core or something to that nature.I will now start putting in some other planes and such and I'm sure that will drop me back down to a lower level. One more thing. When I moved the FPS lock to unlimited, man o man did that make a differance. Now if I can figure out how to "un-blurry" the plane.nVidia Control PanelTurnipSPECS:VISTA Home Basic 580 WATT Sunbeam PowerCrucial Ballistix 4GB(2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAMASUS P5N-E SLI LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 650i SLI ATX Intel Motherboard Intel Core 2 Duo E6550 Conroe 2.33GHz LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor Model BX80557E6550MSI nVidia NX8800GT 512 PCI-E 2.0SB LIVE 24250 GB WD SATA HD 120 GB WD IDE HD

OK, it makes sense nowThe list I provided was for a P4 and a 256MB video card and although the process to set up is exactly the same, the settings you are running are far below that systems ability to display and that is why the FR is so high.that and VSYNC is not locked I dont have time to list the areas you are under at but will when i get timebump water up to 2xLow for one thing,,, texture res 7cm, Autogen VERY DENSE, Scenery complexity 100%, Special Effects 100%, cant go into them all right now but the mesh complexity should alo be 100%, mesh resolution 10m (will automatically set to 10m with 7cm texture res) as wellthese are examples settings you should be running on that hardware, not the list i gave Steveand the filtering should be on TRILINEAR with the nhancer setup I posted:)I also assume this is DX9 and not DX10 Prepewit also come down to if you are happy with what you have running too... some do not look for the sweet-spot with max ability and just accept what they get. I am one to not allow a single blur or stutter to appear (within reason) and run settings fairly highDefault traffic is a major killer... I had Steve run 59 because his is all replaced with 3rd party friendly models.. for you i would keep AL and GA at 30 or so

V- Sync in the nVidia control panel is set to FORCE ON. Is that correct?DX 10 is offI'll make some changes and post back results.TurnipSPECS:VISTA Home Basic 580 WATT Sunbeam PowerCrucial Ballistix 4GB(2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAMASUS P5N-E SLI LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 650i SLI ATX Intel Motherboard Intel Core 2 Duo E6550 Conroe 2.33GHz LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor Model BX80557E6550MSI nVidia NX8800GT 512 PCI-E 2.0SB LIVE 24250 GB WD SATA HD 120 GB WD IDE HD

I made the changes you suggested and while it improved the graphics, it did hit my FPS just a little. It is very tollerable tho. I backed off the Autogen one notch and will be happy with it there. One small annoying little issue I have may be unavoidable. I hope I can expalin this correctly. When I come in to land for instance. The autogen and airport scenery, runways / taxiways etc, you can see them moving from one pixel line on my monitor to another creating this moving line effect. My resolution is set to 1680 X 1050. I changed it to 1600X1200 I think and it still does it. Is there a setting I can make to help the bldgs and such blend in more and not have a shimmering effect?TurnipSPECS:VISTA Home Basic 580 WATT Sunbeam PowerCrucial Ballistix 4GB(2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAMASUS P5N-E SLI LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 650i SLI ATX Intel Motherboard Intel Core 2 Duo E6550 Conroe 2.33GHz LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor Model BX80557E6550MSI nVidia NX8800GT 512 PCI-E 2.0SB LIVE 24250 GB WD SATA HD 120 GB WD IDE HD

The shimmering, unfortunately is a product of the Nvidia drivers and hardware. If you have followed Nick's Nvidia nHancer settings you will have minimized the shimmering the best that you can.

Hey Nick, When you get time can you give me the nhancer settings for my system? Are they any differant than the link I posted earlier?ThxTurnipSPECS:VISTA Home Basic 580 WATT Sunbeam PowerCrucial Ballistix 4GB(2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAMASUS P5N-E SLI LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 650i SLI ATX Intel Motherboard Intel Core 2 Duo E6550 Conroe 2.33GHz LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor Model BX80557E6550MSI nVidia NX8800GT 512 PCI-E 2.0SB LIVE 24250 GB WD SATA HD 120 GB WD IDE HD

No difference, same for all single GPU systemsthose -and- the FSX graphics settings, except the monitor is what ever your monitors native resolution x32.. same as the desktop resolition in Windowsand DO force Vsync ON in Nhancer (both GLOBAL and PROFILE) make SURE all Nhamcer settings are duplicated for GLOBAL and PROFILE and then open the nvidia driver control panel and make sure Vsync is FORCE ON and also Multi Display Mixed GPU Acceleration to SINGLE if you use a single monitor/card

Good to know, I hope I helped, enjoy your game!
