February 13, 200719 yr Author Ok, I ordered the FSGenesis software package. Since I do most of my flying in the US and Europe those are the only two packages that I purchased.I allready have GE Pro II and UT. Is there is any installation order that the three packages must be installed in to work properly? To be honest, I have added and removed UT from my system more times than any other FS9 add-on that I have ever bought. I just don't like the result that it acheives on my computer. So... if I only load FSG and GE Pro II is there a recommended order to install those packages? My FS9 system is a 2.4 Ghz, with 1 Gig of RAM, ATI Radeon 9550 (256MB), with a 19" flat panel. I have just never like how UT looks flying low over cities. In the past, I may have loaded the program incorrectly, that is I may have loaded it to high or to low. So, the proper installation of these three pieces of software will be very important to me to install correctly.Any help?ThanksTom
February 13, 200719 yr Genesis mesh installation is pretty painless. I installed mine over GE Pro and never had a single issue. No layering or scenery file changes required.But... I think if you have different res meshes of the same area, you install the biggest first. 76 meter, then 38 meter, that sort of thing. ___________________________I'm just flying for the fun of it.
February 14, 200719 yr ASv6??Im still using AS2004.5 with GE ProII and FSGenesis. Is there a enough difference from AS2004.5 to ASv6 for me to buy?thanks
February 15, 200719 yr Hey Tom,I just got GE Pro, FSGenesis, Flight Env, UT series, Ultimate Traffic and Active Sky 6.5. I think my FS 9.1 looks better than the FSX and still runs as smooth as it has in the past. I run FE over AS Graphics cause there was a hit to frame rate anyway FE looks better than ASG to me.I have one thing I'm not happy with and that is what ever Ground Env texture is loaded is what it is everywhere. What I mean is you start off in an overcast weather and fly to a sunny place it is still dark instead of brite. When I climbed upto FL410 in clear blue skys my plane was darker than normal it was like flying in late evening and the time was 12-1 pm. So what I plan on trying is to load SCT or Clear textures when I'm flying across country and load the right textures when I'm flying short trips at low alt. Over all I'm very very happy with them all. Scot
February 15, 200719 yr Me too, Scot! I have exactly what you have, and I think they're a fantastic combination. I haven't attributed what you describe in the last paragraph to AS or any other software; I've always felt that the FS itself should alter the external, and I suppose, too, the cockpit "brilliance" which happens as you climb out of and above the overcast. This is something which just isn't modelled in any sim, and yet (to me) this is a biggee in the real world. It's almost an explosion of light, with pure white pillowy clouds stretching out for hundreds of miles. i7 [email protected] | 32GB RAM | EVGA RTX 3080Ti | Maximus Hero VII | 512GB 860 Pro | 512GB 850 Pro | 256GB 840 Pro | 2TB 860 QVO | 1TB 870 EVO | Seagate 3TB Cloud | EVGA 1000 GQ | Win10 Pro | EK Custom water cooling.

February 17, 200719 yr Author Ok, I received my FSGenesis DVDs. I purchased North America and Europe/Africa sets. It also came with a World Buffer Terrain DVD. I loaded everything and updated the textues of GE PRO II. Even at this level it looks great, but I now want to load UT-USA.My current version is 1.21, are there any updates later than that version? Also, in a post found within this forum they talk about a patch required to sandwich UT with FSGenesis. Do I need that patch and if so where can I find it on the web?I also asked these same questions on the Flight1 Forum, but I have not seen a response and I really would like to update FS9 this weekend.ThanksTom
February 17, 200719 yr Hi All,I have already posted this for Scot at Flight1, but it is worth posting here also:None of the ground textures will affect the way planes look as we do nothing to the plane textures. We also have no control over the lighting effects in FS. In fact that is why planes are bright, even in OVC conditions. Also, everyone need to know that once FS04 is started all te4xtures except for cirrus are "locked" into place until you restart FS04. So you will find that no ground texture sets will change the look of your plane. Thanks All,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://www.fseconomy.com/
February 17, 200719 yr I just did the "sandwich". Go here http://www.scenerysolutions.com/Downloads.html and download the last item on the page "Ultimate Terrain USA - FSGenesis Landclass Compatibility Patch". When you open it there will be a pdf doc and a FSGUT patch. Make sure you read the pdf first. Follow the instructions. The last thing you will do is run the patch. Good luck, it worked great for me. Post back if you have any problems. Bob
February 17, 200719 yr Again, i have AS2004.5. Is there a difference with AS6, with GEProII and FSGenesis, ec...? That i should upgrade?thanks Jim
February 17, 200719 yr Hi,I was waiting for others to respond, but I will now!!I think the differences are numerous, especially with being able to integrate AS with GEP. Please drop me an e-mail: [email protected] have a proposal for you.Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://www.fseconomy.com/
February 17, 200719 yr Author To everybody who responsed to my email thank you!A combination of GEPII, FSG and UT-USA has really transformed my sim. Thanks againTom
February 18, 200719 yr Author Bob,I downloaded the information from the link that you provided and I agree that it will be an easy installation. But right now the sim looks great and I am getting very good framerates. I am out of town again this week, but when I return I'll take a harder look at sandwich update.Tom
February 18, 200719 yr Commercial Member HI everyone,The "sandwich" should not be necessary with the new FSG US Landclass for FSX, available any day now. It is based on a newer dataset with a much-improved depiction of urban/suburban classes.I'll have more specific information very soon.-------Justinhttp://www.fsgenesis.netHigh Quality Scenery for FS200x ________________ Justin - Toposim http://www.toposim.net
