engine spray effect

Featured Replies

Hi There, Has anyone got the engine spray effect working, particularly on the PMDG 744.If so what does the aircraft.cfg and panel.cfg look like with this effect installed.I have followed the install instructions in the read me file but the effect does not show up.Also the effects folder has both an fx. file and a texture folder in it .Do you put these in the fs9 effects folder seperately or together within the effect folder in the download? Thanks for any help. Simon.

Hi Simon,I don't know about your engine spray effect, I've never seen it before, but to be honest I've not been looking too hard. I have seen a jet taking off in the rain, and I was surprised to see that the exhaust stream goes back maybe twice the length of the jet itself. It's quite a sight should the opportunity arise. As for your texture folder, I have seen a texture folder located within the effects folder just as I've seen other folders located within the gauge folder. I'd say that if the folders unzip in these locations then that's the way they should be copied to your FS9 directory.I might add that you should copy the contents of the folder across. You don't want to overwrite the folder itself because it may already contain other files.I hope this helps.Mike.

Hiya,Well I have just installed it on the Overland aircraft, and also here no luck. Can't get it to work. Have to say the readme is not really good to understand.http://library.avsim.net/download.php?DLID=109090 this is the link.If anyone one does understand it please leave a remark with how to get it working on a B747/B777/A330 form Overland. That would be reeally great. Thanks L.Jim

I've just done it. My Druk-Air BAe 146 now takes off in a cloud of spray & it will make great screenshots.I did this: The rainwash.fx file went into FS9 Effects folder. I didn't use the texture as (if you check) it's already in the Texture folder. The contents of the gauges folder went into Gauges! The 2 light entries went into the aircraft cfg section lights at the next entries & I edited the numbers accordingly (light.13=8 was changed to light.8=8, etc,) & gauge42+spray!spray_rain, went into the panel cfg in the last window00 space. I put lots of wet weather in & took off in a huge spray cloud :( Ummmm - the above is clear to me so I hope it will be to you? It took me 10 minutes to work out how to do this as you're right - the read-me is gobbledy-gook. The unanswered question now is: will it work with the Taylorcraft Auster Mk5 !!Cheers,TerryW.

Hi Terry, I,m sure i did exactly what you did but it does not work.Any chance of you showing me screenshots of your aircraft.cfg and your panel.cfg.Also for a four engine aircraft do you need 4 light entries to the aircraft.cfg? tHANKS, Simon.

Well it's still unclear to me really.This is my entry in the Overland 747 aircraft.cfg:light.0 = 3, -221.90, 0.18, 4.37, fx_navwhi , //-194.95light.1 = 3, -221.90, -0.12, 4.37, fx_navwhi , //-194.95light.2 = 2, -221.90, 0.00, 3.45, fx_strobe , //-194.95light.3 = 1, -34.25, -0.09, 13.00, fx_beaconh ,light.4 = 1, -89.00, 0.00, -14.28, fx_beaconb ,light.5 = 4, -13, 3, 9.5, fx_vclighthlight.6 = 4, -13, -3, 9.5, fx_vclighth//light.7 = 5, -70.00, 15.00, -14.28, fx_navwhih ,light.8 = 8, -107.5,69.5, Rainwash.fx,light.9 = 8, -76.0,38.9, Rainwash.fx,light.10 = 8, -76.0,-38.9, Rainwash.fx,light.11 = 8, -107.5,-69.5, Rainwash.fx,Still does not work................:(Regards,L.Jim

LJim, light.7 is your problem. The light numbers must stay in order. Light.8 should be changed to light.7 & so on.Also coordinates are incorrect or missing.Copy & paste these numbers below to replace from light.8.Should work thenlight.7 = 8, -107.5,69.5,0.0, Rainwash.fx,light.8 = 8, -76.0,38.9,0.0, Rainwash.fx,light.9 = 8, -76.0,-38.9,0.0, Rainwash.fx,light.10 = 8, -107.5,-69.5,0.0, Rainwash.fxGood LuckSteveP.S. Heres my wet runway effects includes takeoff thrust effects and reverser effects only on wet or snow covered runway. I rehashed other gauges to make them work..

Hi Simon,Steve has sorted L.Jim out & that's exactly what I did. My panel cfg has the rainwash gauge as the last entry in the Window00 section. I'm not at my FS computer right now but will post my entries later. The youtube video is the effect I get!!

For Simon especially: Aircraft cfg: (LIGHTS) //Types: 1=beacon, 2=strobe, 3=navigation, 4=cockpit, 5=landinglight.0=3, -11.00, -43.00, 3.40, fx_navredm ,light.1=3, -11.00, 43.00, 3.40, fx_navgrem ,light.2=3, -56.50, 0.00, 3.80, fx_navwhih ,light.3=2, -12.00, -43.00, 3.40, fx_strobeh ,light.4=2, -12.00, 43.00, 3.40, fx_strobeh ,light.5=1, 5.00, 0.00, 7.30, fx_beaconh ,light.6=1, -1.00, 0.00, -6.60, fx_beaconb ,light.7= 8, -10, -18, 0, Rainwash.fx,light.8= 8, -10, 18, 0, Rainwash.fx,Panel cfg: last 4 entries:gauge34=ATC!Addon ATC Icon, 52,435,11,10 gauge35=Autoland!Autoland_small, 62,435,11,10gauge36=SALSv9!SALSv9, 1,295,95,95 //96,50,30gauge37=spray!rain_spray, 0,0,10,10I assume with say a 6 engined Antonov you'd put 6 entries in Lights. I'm going to add it to an A380 this evening!

How are you doing Simon? I've added it to an ATR & the Avsim/Stone A380 & it works a treat.

Do I use the engine cordinates for the numbers for the engine spray? I want to add it for the posky 747. Then I would need 4 lights, correct?Bill

Hi, I am using(in the PMDG 744) the aircraft.cfg entry that scotty1 posted:- light.7 = 8, -107.5,69.5,0.0, Rainwash.fx,light.8 = 8, -76.0,38.9,0.0, Rainwash.fx,light.9 = 8, -76.0,-38.9,0.0, Rainwash.fx,light.10 = 8, -107.5,-69.5,0.0, Rainwash.fx But i am only getting puffs of spray instead of a stream of spray behind the engines.Should i be using these numbers:-light.7 = 8, -10, -18, 0, Rainwash.fx,light.8 = 8, -10, 18, 0, Rainwash.fx,light.9 = 8, -10, -18, 0, Rainwash.fx,light.10 = 8, -10, 18, 0, Rainwash.fx, That were in the original read me file with the download. Thanks, Simon.

Hello. These are the engine coordinates from the Avsim/Mike Stone A380& I've just checked that they work, & they do. I get nice trails of spray from all four engines. light.9 = 8, -10.000, -83.000, 0.000, Rainwash.fx,light.10 = 8, -17.000, -49.000, 0.000, Rainwash.fx,light.11 = 8, -17.000, 49.000, 0.000, Rainwash.fx,light.12 = 8, -10.000, 83.000, 0.000, Rainwash.fx,I'm now going to play with the Stone 727. Fingers crossed.....;-)I am assuming you use the engines coordinated of all the aircraft you want the spray effect from :-hmmm
