December 25, 200817 yr Sorry paul dont see how that helps. Same issue that i am getting and i am also allowing winds aloft Weather being shown in the briefing is just not being depictedJohn John Hewson
December 25, 200817 yr current entry from the asv log file21:31:00:0078 - Up/downdraft generated: -431fpm, Downdraft = True, Winddir = 310, Windspeed = 53, Strengthfactor = 1.766667zero wind in fs9!Know this will get sorted out but just frustrating!BTW think may be an issue with the pseudo atlantic weather stations as over land no problem. Also Happy Holidays everyone!john John Hewson
December 25, 200817 yr Now over Newfoundland and got the weather back as expected over land but very redfaced as clicked on "save and apply" to bring it back!Must have made some changes somewhere but planning return flight back from new york tomorrow so will update thenWill keep monitoring but still love the productJohn John Hewson

One possibility comes to mind. According to the feature list, ASA will model terrain-influenced updrafts and downdrafts - i.e. vertical air motion will (I presume) increase when flying over hills or mountains, just as it would in real-world flying. This tells me that ASA must be aware of, and constantly analyzing , the underlying terrain mesh in FS during flight, and using this information to modify the injected weather - at least insofar as vertical air motion is concerned. Since the ocean has an elevation of "zero", could it be that the lack of terrain variance is somehow causing the weather injection into FS to eventually cease - or to drop important data?Just a thought...Jim Barrett Jim BarrettLicensed Airframe & Powerplant Mechanic, Avionics, Electrical & Air Data Systems Specialist. December 27, 200817 yr Hi,This is something we will need to take a look at.Thanks,Thanks for that Jim - as you will gather its happening in both simsI am also getting unexpected clear weather which doesnt match the METAR and have had crashes to desktop at beginning of flights since loading ASA citing fsuipc as the reason. never had this before. backdating to fsuipc 3.81 at least solves that for me.My impression is that there is a general communication problem between ASA and FSUIPC which is leading to incorrect depiction of the weather - but thats just a thought.I am sure you will get it all fixed - your product support is legendary in the business - but rather surprised these issues didnt come up during the BETA testing phaseJohn John Hewson

Uninstalling FSUIPC seems to help but then I can't use Radar Contact. aghhh. I have to restart ASA/FSX when ever I change FS location. :( Mitchell Ward ____________________________________________________ Q9550 (@3.8), 9800GTX, 4G DDR2 1066, W7RC FSX/Acceleration/REX textures/REX weather/MyTrafficX/RC4.3
December 29, 200817 yr BumpHello, Is there any change or advice, It has been several days since I bought ASA and I have yet to use the program. There was a lot of action when this form was first started and now nothing. I did see another form about the registry and now I am wondering if my ASA program even knows where to find my FS9?Thank you,Ryan Jones
December 30, 200817 yr Thank you for the information,Here is what I am seeing hopefully this might help.Thank you,Ryan
December 30, 200817 yr Im not sure if this is the same but I used to have a similar problem with AS6.5. I always start AS before loading FS and allow it to download the weather and apply GePro textures. I would then start FS and create a flight and hit Fly Now! The problem I used to get was that the weather was not as the metar described on the AS screen. It would usually be the default weather of +15 degrees celcius and a pressure of 1013. I would try to refresh the weather using AS and I could see that it had written the weather for the station I was closest to, but alas the weather had not changed. Occassionally, the weather would change, but only for a few seconds and then it would revert back to the default weather. To remedy the problem I used FSUIPC to clear all weather then refresh it using AS. If this did not work I had to close FS and then open it up again. I don't seem to be having this problem anymore, and the weather is loading up exactly as the metar describes. However, I have noticed that before I click Fly Now! The weather option displays User-Generated Weather (Or someting like that) so maybe you need to wait for this to appear? I don't think I can remember it saying that whenever the weather would not load correctly, Rob Taylor
December 31, 200817 yr Thank you, I think you are on to something. When I use AS 6.5, my FS9 weather screen always shows user weather, when I try to use ASA it always shows clear. Do I understand that if I allow FS9 to sit perhaps the weather source will change from clear to user weather. What I will try to do is open ASA, run FS9, open my FSUIPC- clear all weather, then close down my flight, let FS9 return to its main screen and wait and see if the weather will change. Thanks for the idea.Ryan :(
