Asa On Dual-boot Pc

Hello everyone,I'd like to clear the air about a few things. First, our license policy allows you to use ASA on one machine by one user, or on multiple PCs by a single user at one time. Online use is available only on a single PC. If online usage occurs on more than one PC then a reactivation on the new 'computer' is done and you have a limited amount of new activations that may be performed before a license is 'maxed out' and must be reset by HiFi on a valid request.ASA will work for either or both versions of FS, and can be installed on any machine (or even multiple machines) on your network. If you have an upgrade version, as clearly indicated, we need to verify eligibility on installation which requires that your upgraded version exist on the machine you are installing ASA on. Once this eligibility is performed and ASA is installed, there is no reason or requirement to keep the previous version installed. If you need to re-install ASA via an upgrade version, you will need to also install the product you are upgrading to the eligibility check can again be performed successfully. I repeat, we are NOT preventing use of multiple FS versions, and ASA includes full support for both versions, singularly or together. As to dual boot, we do NOT intentionally require that this setup requires two licenses. Our machine code is generated of specific information that SHOULD NOT change between dual boots. If it is changing for you, requiring new activation on the new boot, then we have a technical issue and will be looking forward to solving that in short order. We would appreciate a support request if you are experiencing this (private) indicating your license so we may look into it further. Jim was mistaken about this, as we have not previously written or described this situtation. Our apologies. Finally, we did not implement the new licensing system in order to make things harder for our customers. We did it to prevent the over 20,000 pirated copies of previous AS versions that are using available server resources, in turn driving up the cost of providing such services and in the end, the cost of AS. This is a brand new system, and while we tested it significantly during development and beta testing, there are bound to be a few issues that need to be worked out to cover unanticipated situtations or problems/bugs in the way machine codes are generated in these situtations.Thank you for your understanding and patience while we work out any problems here. Your continued support and feedback is very much appreciated.Best,

I have been an Active Sky user for many years was about to purchase ASA at what I thought would be discounted price and then enjoy ASA on both my FS9 and FSX installation but was stopped in my tracks when I stumbled upon this thread! However after going through the whole thread I'm still not clear as to what the deal is with ASA and dual boots.OK then - I have FS9 on an XPOS partition with a valid AS 6.5 license. I also have FSX on a separate Vista64OS partition but if I wish to purchase ASA at the discounted price it seems I will need to have both FS9 (with its valid AS6.5 license) and FSX on the same partition and this is not an option for me in the long term. However, if I understand things correctly, I could temporarily install a copy of FS9 (with its valid AS6.5 license) on my FSX partition and be able to purchase ASA at the discounted price. I will then be able to install ASA on both my Vista64OS FSX and my XPOS FS9 partitions and then delete the second FS9 install and have full ASA functionality with both installs. True or otherwise?I know piracy is a problem for all developers but a piracy prevention measure that also punishes legitimate purchasers is no way to go. I also think you guys may not have fully appreciated how widespread dual booting is - I run FSX on Vista64 due to its better memory handling and FS9 on XP because Vista64 doesn't support 16bit apps (needed for the older RXP Garmins).Bruceb

Bump. This thread has slipped rapidly down the list and with credit card in hand I am keen to receive a reply from the developers. Thanks.Bruceb

Hi,Sorry, I missed your question.Install ASX on both partitions and then purchase and install the ASX upgrade. Then uninstall the ASX programs you don't want to keep. Thanks!
