May 7, 200917 yr Interesting marketing concept... for $11.95 you get to try the Carenado 172N, which is a really well madeairplane. But you only get the version with skis.I wonder what you do if you like it so much that you would like the regular wheels version.. pay thefull $26.95 price as well? Bert

May 7, 200917 yr I saw this too, can the skies be lowered and raised to allow for runway landings? | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
May 7, 200917 yr I saw this too, can the skies be lowered and raised to allow for runway landings?I would be surprised if you can't raise and lower the skis. Even the default Maule can do that.
May 7, 200917 yr I saw this too, can the skies be lowered and raised to allow for runway landings?Could someone confirm or deny this please? If they can be raised and lowered, Carenado just sold another plane. Tired of Streetlights everywhere? Try MSFS DarkStreets today!

If they can be raised and lowered, Carenado just sold another plane.Ditto, that's what I was thinking....a complete C172 by Carenado with skis (I can deal with that), for 12 bucks....sign me up!...as long as they can be raised for pavement heheedit I just emailed them we'll see | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
May 7, 200917 yr THeir emailed response was"No the skis are statics.But they are a little bit higher than the wheels contact point whit the ground, so you can land in a regular runway."hmmmm | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
May 8, 200917 yr I Purchased it- Very Happy with the flight dynamics (and the price). Correct me if I am wrong, It does not seem to have ILS in VOR #1 (has lateral needle but no glidescope needle, probable like original) and although I have the RealtyXP, the VOR gauges do not connect/link when I select "GPS" on RealityXP Gauge. Once again correct if I am wrong. The Flight dynamics/model IMO are EXCELLENT. I bought the Caranado 182Q long ago (FSX/FS2004 version) Good, but this flight model IMO MUCH better. Lowering Flaps on the 182Q IMO are too radical, causing too much vertical change on 182Q model. I think this 172N model is much better.I only tried on normal runways (no snow or ice), so this model will work fine on hard runways and I will try later in Snow. For the price once again, I think EXCELLENT.Flt300ZOLDER InteL Pentuim D 3.0OLD ATI 2600 XT 512MBOLD 3GB MemoryNewer 640GB Hard Drive(I am too lazy to look up above model numbers!)

I tuned VOR2 to same freq and it did lateral track (so I know I was tuned to a valid freq.) Thanks anyway, I may fiddle with it more later. Also, for others info, it does not have an autopilot, and the "popup" one that comes with the RealityXP 430GPS does not seem to function with the 172N. I also have not been able to get the RealityXP 430GPS to Control the VOR1 when GPS selected on the RealityXP. (RealityXP GPS does work fine as a popup, though.) Like I said, I really like the flight model and the sounds. Price was are good, also.Flt300z

What happens if you switch it between NAV and GPS,and what happens if you temporarily remove it? Ctrl-shift-N should also switch the NAV/GPS switch. If I hit that key combination on this plane, the VOR1 will indeed refuse to track the VOR/ILS and the VOR2 gauge will work OK. Bert
May 9, 200917 yr DANGIT!!!!!Attached 182Q picture (I am Higher at same location, 182Q pit shown, no ILS/glidescope lock flying in)- As you notice -Something(on My 182Q side) is messed up, the 182Q worked on this approach in the past SO, I think I need to un/reinsall my 182Q. I do own the RealityXP 430 GPS/Autopilot- guess I get to play the unstall/re-install game for a while. Thanks for the help, I like the 172N even if I don't get the ILS gauge from the 182Q to work.

Also, I landed this plane on various hard runways and in snow in Alaska, so even though it has skis, it lands good on hard rwy, no lowering of skis required as per another post. I did try to land in water for fun, NOP, got the splash as expected. :(
