May 28, 200917 yr Just a FYID0 stepping processors do not need high QPI/DRAM and they typically run 4GHz on lower Vcore tooQPI/DRAM for high performance memory is fine at 1.35v and many are finding CPU Voltage running 1.32 for 4GHz now.. YMMV but do keep that in mind... all other settings are exactly the same
May 29, 200917 yr hi Mike, that's good to hear. when you get the new sys. going and you have time, let me know how FSX is running for ya.happy flyin, Tim

May 30, 200917 yr Author Hi,Yep, I'm very lucky. I decided to purchase two new hard drives. I just order two Veloci Raptor 300 GB, SATA 10,000 RPM drives.Looks like the configuration will be as follows.1. Windows 7 on one drive by itself (SATA 10,000 RPM 150 Gig drive)2. FS9/2004 + addons on a drive by itself (SATA 10,000 RPM 300 Gig drive)3. FSX + addons on a drive by itself (SATA 10,000 RPM 300 Gig drive)4. SSM2007 on a drive by itself (SATA 10,000 RPM 150 Gig drive)5. Other programs and storage (SATA 7,200 RPM 74 Gig drive)Unless Windows 7 should be on the SATA 7,200 RPM 74 Gig drive and I place my Other programs and storage on the SATA 10,000 RPM 150 Gig drive. Will I see any benefit by placing Windows 7 on the 10,000 RPM drive as oppose to the 7,200 RPM drive?.Thanks Former Beta Tester - (for a few companies) - As well as provide Regional Voice Set Recordings Two: AMD-9950X | One: AMD-7950X3D | Three: Asus TUF 4090s | Three: 64GB DDR5 RAM 6000mhz | Three: Cosair 1300 P/S | Three: 990Pro 2TB NVME One: Eugenius ECS2512 - 2.5 GHz Switch | Three: Ice Giant Elite CPU Coolers | Three: 75" 4K UHDTVs | One: Boeing 737NG Flight Deck
May 30, 200917 yr Have you considered a dual-boot system? I have tried FS9 under Windows 7 and while it worked I experienced some stuttering.I since use Vista 32 bit for FS9 as I've found it to work best. I have Win7 on another partition to play around with. I accually use Win7 for all non-FS activities without a glitch so far. This way I can really tweak down Vista to the bare essentials just to run FS9.I would use the 10.000 rpm drive for the OS as it's always nice to have it load fast.
May 31, 200917 yr Author Hi,I'll be using a 64 bit operating system so I'm going to see how Win 7 handles both sims. Have you considered a dual-boot system? May 31, 200917 yr Author Hi,Well, looks like I'll need power cable extenders if I want to run these cables behind the box between the cover and M/B base.
