Conduit Malware
Most of the times that people get Conduit or another malicious software, it is because the user is tricked into clicking a link or advertisement to an illegitimate website where you believe you are getting something that you want, i.e. Chrome, Firefox, Skype, but the software that is installed is actually packed with malware or viruses. In many of these cases, when someone does a search on Google or Yahoo, the ads or "sponsored links" appearing above or next to the legitimate search results titled with "download now latest version here free" etc actually go to the fake sites. Most likely that is how you got it. Sometimes the junk can easily be removed from Programs and Features in the control panel, other times however they dig in and really screw things up, making new illegitimate ads and popups appear, hijacking your home page settings, and attempting to steal your personal information. Often times these malicious software are also paired with viruses or change settings behind your back to make you more vulnerable to infection. Really despicable people behind this stuff. A really good utility to help you avoid dangerous websites is "Web of Trust", a free plugin which indicates which sites are good or bad. It is available for all browsers, Windows and Mac: http://mywot.com

Aviation Herald Threatened, Ryanair Suspected
The Aviation Herald has been threatened with legal action by a so-called unknown airline. Speculation however seems to indicate that airline to be none other than Ryanair. http://www.avherald.com/h?article=45a1cb11 For me I find this deeply disturbing. Thoughts?

Pro Flight Advertising on FB Again
Does that possibly constitute criminal misrepresentation to some extent? I highly agree, that to hook onto reputable names to bolster sales, of someone else's tiresome and free work, is pathetic.

Microsoft Tells It How It Is On XBox Channel, Announces Spring Release
I think this an official video, on a YouTube channel named "InsideXBOX" with a narrator that talks about Flight:<iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/0xyPwxiF8Hc" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>Personally, made me a little sick, it truly is just a Hawaii flying game. I think those are the same specs as FSX too. So I think I'd be better off just joining the crowd and sticking with FSX.An official Microsoft blog here announces a spring release:http://windowsteambl...his-spring.aspxThe only truly good thing about it from what I can tell is that it's free, or so they say. So personally, I want to see someone try importing the new aircraft into FSX to see if it works.Apologies if this is a duplicate thread.

The End of Wunala Dreaming?
Saw a report on A.net that famed Qantas 747-400 VH-OEJ "Wunala Dreaming" may be repainted back into the standard livery in February. Will be sad if that holds true. :sad:Link to the livery's backstory:http://www.qantas.co...signs/global/en

love flight simming but hate/fearful of flying for real. odd?
I had toured an airline training facility previously and they had a couple cabin trainers around 6-7 rows long, and they were on a motion platform. The primary role of them was for situational training such as smoke and emergency evacuations. For me I used to be deathly afraid of flying when I was younger, simulation was a big part of helping me alleviate those fears and making aviation into my true passion.

Links Directory Gives Forum Driver Error
I am unsure if this is the result of the ongoing maintenance but I thought I should mention that throughout the day the new links database has resulted in a forum driver error page.

New stuff!
On my Macbook when I try to load the Flight site my browser immediately tries to load three corrupted audio files. But then I was able to get the clips to play when using the link in their news article. So it isn't just your PC, seems like the Flight site has a new bug.

AMD Catalyst Question
I recall a while back that lots of users of AMD/ATI Radeon 5xxx cards had reported a somewhat major improvement in FSX performance when Catalyst 11.6 came out. Since then there have been a few newer Catalyst releases, the current one as of this post being 11.9, is anyone aware of any additional performance/quality improvements or differential with these releases?

Win 7 PRO or HOME ?
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit edition has a 16GB memory usage cap, so if your computer has 16GB of RAM or more you will definitely want to use Professional which has a 192GB cap.

Which i7 Performs Better In Flight Sim?
Plainplane replied to Plainplane's topic in System Hardware: PC | MOBO | RAM | CPU | HDD | SSD | PSU etcMy main concern is that the i7 965 shows a 6.4GT/s QPI and the 970's spec has a lower number, 4.8. Which i7 Performs Better In Flight Sim?
I have two processors right now, the i7 965 and the i7 970. I plan to leave everything at stock settings. Both of them have a 3.2GHz clock speed, however the 965 is an "extreme" 45nm quad-core and the 970 is a 32nm hex-core. Which one would perform better with FSX?Thanks in advance.

Mystery Key Deletes Part of Post
I know that with the "insert" key, by hitting it you are selecting "overtype" mode so if it is selected and you go back to an earlier part of the paragraph what you typed will be replaced with what you are typing afterward. Are the words that are disappearing to the left or the right of the typing cursor?

VRS superbug released, but their support forum is off limits to non-customers?!?
In my opinion, whether a customer buys a product either directly from an software maker's online store or through a dealer, the customer is entitled to the same quality level of support regardless of where he/she buys it from. The fact that the maker of the software was not able to successfully negotiate terms with their retail dealers suitable to their own business desires should not mean that an unsuspecting customer should be treated with a lesser entitlement of support, especially with little forewarning.

ELITE Hardware Compatibility
Hello PMDG support,Several of our customers who own our hardware and also have your high-quality software products for Microsoft Flight Simulator have found disappointment that some of our hardware products do not work with your addons. Our professional-grade hardware is not HID compliant, therefore it communicates with MSFS through a custom-developed plugin which was made for use with aircraft that follow the MSFS SDK. We are wondering if possible that either it may be possible to develop a version that abides more within the SDK, or if there is someone from PMDG we can send some of our hardware to so that proper functionality with our hardware can be added to your software products, without additional costs to either of our customers.I look forward to your response.Sincerely,Andre KlassELITE Simulation Solutions

Flight Gear Ripoff
Considering how often this comes up on here I think it would be a good idea to have a sticky about it.

Terrible Weather at Sun n Fun
I went to Sun 'n Fun show today, they really cleaned up well. Apparently in the roof a very big leak or hole formed over the booth during the tornado event but despite everything of ours being soaked, the ELITE equipment sustained no damage. Other than the soggy muddy grass I couldn't believe what happened on Thursday really happened, until I happened to come across a new Archer at Piper's display with a partially crushed cabin and a cracked wing. Overall I had a pretty good time today at the show.

Terrible Weather at Sun n Fun
I found out about this right after it happened when one of my coworkers called from the show, about that the weather was really bad and there may have been a hangar collapse. With his iPhone he sent photos of the damage and it was quite extensive, planes thrown about and left smashed upside down and into one another, and to my understanding our booth in Hangar D may have been flooded. It was confirmed from the National Weather Service that indeed an EF-1 tornado had hit. Even though there were millions of dollars in damage overall, thank goodness it wasn't much worse and that everyone is pretty much alright.Currently the plans are that most events are going to resume and continue on through the weekend as planned. As they say, "The show must go on!"
