  1. I am running Vista64 with two EVGA GTX285 FTW cards and I have no problems with the GeForce 185.85 drivers.I am using Nick's settings in nHancer the only difference is in AA settings I am using Combined 4xS Gamma instead of Combined 8xS Gamma simply because I have two monitors are running at 2560x1600Furthermore I have only two tweaks in FSX.cfg[Display]TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT=80[bufferpools]poolsize=400000000
  2. Hi Nick,This is very good news. Please get GEX Europe ready for release a.s.a.p. as I am really waiting to buy this highly anticipated addon. Finally GEX Europe is just around the corner.
  3. You should run ASA on a second computer over the network using SimConnect and let FSX use all the cores on your flight simulator computer.
  4. I am simply very jealous. :( I will have to live with my 965 until the next generation Intel Gulftown comes along somewhere in 2010. :(
  5. I agree with the fact that the Logitech keyboards are top.Personally I have the newest Logitech G19 keyboard and it's defendant the best keyboard I aver have had.As for the keyboard back light you can set any color you want.http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/gaming/p....ac=pl|5896||hp
  6. WOW a very cool system :( But why have you mounted the cooling radiator outside the case and not inside the case, like in my build.By the way my project is called freezing
  7. Two video cards is not for SLI but for the TWO 30" monitors. One monitor for the VC and one monitor for instruments and other items.12 GB of memory is for some other things I will be using this computer for.
  8. Two more pictures I received from my system builder!
  9. Lots of money plus an arm and a leg, but at the end of this year every item I bought will be less expensive. :(I don't want to talk about money, so if you really want to know please send me a private email.Only thing I will tell here is that for the assembly of the complete system I only payed 75,- euro and I really think this is very cheep. :(
  10. New computer system ETA tomorrow. :( Just some first pictures I got today from my system builder. The system builder is in the Netherlands Freezing HardwareSo any dutch people or anyone else with some real money please have a good look.I created the specifications and Freezing Hardware made it come alive.I hope to have some first FSX flying results by the end of next week, so this is just a teaser. Some first picturesSystem specificationsComputerCase: Lian Li PC TYR PC-X2000PSU: Corsair HX1000 1000WCPU: Intel Core-i7 965 XE Extreme Edition 3.2GHz overclock 4.2GHzMotherboard: Asus ROG Rampage II ExtremeMemory 12GB: 2x OCZ OCZ3G1600LV6GK Gold 6GB(3x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800 1600MHz CAS 8 1.65vGPU: 2x EVGA GeForce GTX 285 FTW Core 720MHz Shaders: 1620MHz Memory: 2772MHz 1024MBHDD 4x Western Digital VelociRaptor WD3000GLFS 300GB 10Krpm 16MB SATAII (NO RAID)DVD ROM: Samsung SH-D163B 16x DVD-Rom, zwart SATA bulkBlu-Ray R/W: Plextor PX-B920SA 4x Blu-Ray Rewriter SATA retailAudio: Creative SB X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Pro, PCIeSpeakers: Creative GigaWorks S750 7.1Headphone: Sennheiser PC 350WatercoolingThermoChill PA120.2ThermoChill PA120.1Swiftech Apogee GTZSwiftech MCP655EK-D5 X-Top G1/4 rev. 2Nalgene tubing 1/2" ID / 3/4" OD (13x3)EK Water Blocks EK-Multioption RES 100 rev. 22x Aqua Computer AquagraFX GTX 285 waterblock2x twinConnect kit G1/4 for aquagraFX for GTX 285 for SLIInputLogitech G19 Gaming Keyboard (on pre order)Logitech G9 Gaming Laser MouseMonitor2x Samsung 305T+ 30" WideTFT 2560x1600 6ms S-PVAOSMicrosoft Windows Vista Ultimate UK SP1 64bits Box OEMNAS for some external storageQNAP TS-509 Pro 5 x SATAII hotswap in RAID-5 setup5x Seagate Barracuda ES.2 1TB 7200rpm 32MB SATAIIExtras some extra itemsD-Link DGS-1008D Switch, 8 port 10/100/1000Corsair Flash Voyager GT 16GB, USB2.0
  11. Sorry Abe, but I think you forgot the HDD's.Get two WD VelociRaptors 300GB, one for the OS Vista 64bit and one for FSX plus an extra big 1TB HDD for all your other stuff. There is no need for RAID if you keep the second VelociRaptor only for the FSX setup.
  12. If you can afford it! :( 1. You may want to consider getting a second WD 300MB 10000RPM VelociRaptor where you use one for the OS (Vista 64bit) and the second one for the FSX setup. (do not put them in RAID)2. If you are not a do it your self over-clocker get a Core i7 965 Extreme.3. If you are not a do it your self over-clocker get a factory over-clocked GTX 285 like a EVGA GTX 285 FTW or a ASUS GTX 285 Ultimate (do not get a GTX 295).4. Get a bigger PSU with higher wattage.
  13. YES the GTX 285 will be faster or at least as fast as a GTX 295 :( But only if you get the right GTX 285.Personally I just ordered the EVGA GTX 285 FTW (ForTheWin). The Air cooler will be replaced by a water cool block from AquagraFX.And to make sure FSX will run OK, I ordered two of them, one for each 30" monitor! But you will also need a very fast Core i7 computer to drive these GTX 285 cards.
  14. Hi Paul,It all depends on the settings of sliders in FSX and the screen resolution you are aiming for.But the first and most imported rule is to get the fastest processor you can afford. Regards,Hans.
  15. Why not water cool your CPU and/or GPU(s)?Watch this Core-i7 overclock video from HardOCPhttp://www.viddler.com/explore/HardOCP/videos/21/At the end of the video the come to the conclusion that if you really want to overclock the Cole-i7 you can better go with water cooling!
  16. >Dutch, would you mind sharing the cost of this system. It>looks like the ultimate for almost every component.>>Best,>BobHi Bob,Yes I could have mentioned the total cost of the system, but that would be like to much barging about my newly ordered system and that is the last thing I want to do.Don't worry about the cost I can afford it.If you are interested in a system like this you could send me a private message and I could send you the full order information including the prices.Regards,Dutch.

  18. Just ordered a new Core i7 system, ATA before Christmas (I hope).I hope to receive a water cooled Core i7 system with the specs as mentioned below in a fee weeks time, if there are no reviews on the net by that time of a Core i7 running FSX, I will tell you good people out there how my new system runs FSX.As I am only a software engineer, the computer hardware will be custom build by a Dutch computer shop who know their way around water cooled systems, so when it arrives I only have to do the fun parts like install the OS and FSX and away I fly.Any predictions to what this system can do for FSX?ComputerCase: Lian Li PC TYR PC-X2000PSU: Corsair HX1000 1000WCPU: Intel Core-i7 965 XE Extreme Edition 3.2GHz overclock 4.0GHzMOBO: Asus ROG Rampage II ExtremeMemory 12GB: 2x OCZ OCZ3G1600LV6GK Gold 6GB(3x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800 1600MHz CAS 8 1.65vGPU: 2x EVGA GeForce GTX 280 HC16 HydroCopper 691/2430MHz 1024MBHDD RAID-0: 4x Western Digital VelociRaptor WD3000GLFS 300GB 10Krpm 16MB SATAIIAudio: Creative SB X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Pro, PCIeDVD ROM: Samsung SH-D163B 16x DVD-Rom, zwart SATA bulkBlu-Ray R/W: Plextor PX-B920SA 4x Blu-Ray Rewriter SATA retailWatercoolingThermoChill PA120.2ThermoChill PA120.1Swiftech Apogee GTZSwiftech MCP655Nalgene tubing 1/2" ID / 3/4" OD (13x3)EK Water Blocks EK-Multioption RES 100 rev. 2InputLogitech G15 v2 Gaming KeyboardLogitech G9 Gaming Laser MouseMonitor2x Samsung 305T+ 30" WideTFT 2560x1600 6ms S-PVAOSMicrosoft Windows Vista Ultimate UK SP1 64bits Box OEMNASQNAP TS-509 Pro 5 x SATAII hotswap RAID5+Spare5x Seagate Barracuda ES.2 1TB 7200rpm 32MB SATAIIExtraD-Link DGS-1008D Switch, 8 port 10/100/1000Corsair Flash Voyager GT 16GB, USB2.0

It now looks like it's working:I added the full blown MytrafficX 5.2 to your shopping cart:B. RENK - MyTRAFFIC X V5.2PID: 2072Available since: 10/15/2008EUR 39.27And upon proceeding to the checkout, the price in my cart is:EUR 14.28This must be the price plus VAT, so thanks SimMarget. And I think this is a reasonable price for the upgraded.

Hi sargeski,Please can you tell me where can I find the link to the download upgrade that costs 12.00 euro. The only two links I can find are inMenu > Flight > FSX > FSX Downloads > FSX TrafficB. RENK - MyTRAFFIC X - INCREMENTAL UPDATE FROM 5.1b DVD TO V5.2PID: 3289Available since: 10/21/2008EUR 17.85B. RENK - MyTRAFFIC X V5.2PID: 2072Available since: 10/15/2008EUR 39.27There is also no update link in SimMarket on my personal product page.Don't get me wrong I want to pay for the upgrade, just not to much.Thanks.
  21. Dutch60 replied to a post in a topic in MS FSX | FSX-SE Forum
I originally purchased 5.1. And you are not right, if I choose the product "MyTraffic X 5.2" we have to pay for the upgrade even if I purchased other version, and also if I go to my original purchase, the download for "MyTraffic X 5.2" is not there for free. Guess Simmarket screwed up as you said. The price for the upgrade from 5.1b to 5.2 still is listed for 17.85 euro and not for 12.00 euro
  22. Hi Nick,[q]The GTX 290 is nothing but a die shrink on the 280...[/q]A know that but every shrink of any chip is a good thing[q]Sli 3 blow dryers is really not cost efficient with liquid if the goal is noise reduction[/q]I am only planning on only getting water cooled Dual SLII am almost sure that a water cooled GTX280 or 290 must be more quiet that a air cooled card[q]If ATI manages to get bot sides of their x2 card working in FSX, that would crush the 280 like a bug. The question is 'if' and 'when' that may happen in the driver or if it will take another ATi release to get it right for FSX[/q]The same is true for nVidia SLI, but for now if XCroseFire and SLI do not work 100% in FSX a single card GTX290 will be much faster than a single 4870.
  23. Hi Nick,Thanks for the reply.Conclusions1: I will not buy a Skulltrail system2: I will have a second look at water cooling vs air cooling for the CPU and GPU(s)3: I will stay with SLI and try to go for higher AA and AF, I also still think that for a 30" at 2560x1660 SLI is a must4. I will wait two or three mounds for Core-i7My hope is that the GT200b aka GTX290 will arrive in 2008.http://www.theinquirer.net/gb/inquirer/new...70-290-gx2-rollI know about the Core-i7 (Nehalem) memory the selection I made and this would not be my final selection, but there is not much information about triple channel memory sets that are comming for Core-i7.I hope something like Triple Channel 1600+ MHz at Case 6 or Case 7 will become available for Core-i7 at lower voltages.
  24. >hmmmm overkill hehe?>>CPU: E8600 overclocked to 4.0 at least or Q9550 overclocked>using>Thermalright Ultra 120 cooler>http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16835109125>>Single 8800GTX or GTX260 or radeon 4870x2 whatever you want,>just not two cards....waste of money>>For the mobo either an X48-based one utilizing DDR3 ram>Or, an older mobo, with DDR2 RAM (4GB of RAM)>>And Vista x64>>Get a decent PSU, something like this:>http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16817139002>>And you're setWhy a Q9550 not a Q9770 at 4GHz?I know the Thermalright Ultra 120 cooler is a good cooler but it's an AIR cooler and also the graphics card you selected are AIR cooled so these changes you propose will make a lot of noise, in fact these changes will make the computer sound like a jetfighter plane. In one line you say NOT to select a dual GPU setup and that I could better select a 4870X2, now I know of this new very nice ATI card and it definitely is a dual a GPU card. What is wrong with my choice of PSU, why is the one from Corsair better than the one from Enermax. What about the short wait for X58 and Nehalem? My main demands for the new system are:It should be able to run at 30 FPS in 2560x1600 at 8xAA 16xAF in crowded areas and using a big bird.It should be as silent as possible.
  25. Yes I have been waiting around 6 mounds for Nehalem to buy a new computer, and now that the wait is almost over I know I have a huge luxury problem. The main things I want are running in almost silence and still being able to do a little over-clocking on the processor(s) not the video cards.I know of the good new 4870X2 video card from ATI, but as I will only run FSX, IL2 and LockOn on this new system I selected nVidia for the video cards.Furthermore I also know that three cards in SLI for simulators is definitely overkill, so that's why I choose dual SLI.My choice is to wait until December for Core i7, but Skulltrail also still looks very attractive. What would be your choice. My current system is more than three years old but still able to run at 20 FPS in 1280x1024 at 4xAA 4xAF in not to overcrowded areas and not using a big bird. The new system should be able to run at 30 FPS in 2560x1600 at 8xAA 16xAF in crowded areas and using a big bird.Current SystemCase: Antec P80Power: Enermax 650WattCooling: AirProcessor: AMD FX-55Video: 2x 6800 Ultra in SLIMemory: 2GB DDR2Harddisks: 2x 400GB in RAID-0Monitor: IIYama VisionMaster 512 Pro 22" CRTOS: Windows-XP 32bitsBase for new SystemCase: Zalman GT1000 Titanium black, red LED fan's or Lian Li PC TYR PC-X2000Video: 2x EVGA GeForce GTX 280 HC, 691MHz, 1024MB, 65nm, 2-Way SLI (there is still no sighting of a G200b)Floppy: NEC 3.5" Floppy Diskdrive 1.44Mb, BlackMedia: Lite-On DH-4O1S 4x BD-Rom, Black, SATAHarddisks: 4x Western Digital VelociRaptor WD3000GLFS 300GB, 10Krpm, 16MB, SATAII RAID-0Sound: Creative SB X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Pro, PCIeSpeakers: Creative GigaWorks S750 7.1 THX, 7x70W+1x210W RMSKeyboard: Logitech G15 v2 Gaming KeyboardMouse: Logitech G5 or G9 Gaming Laser MouseYoke: CH Products Eclipse Yoke (I already own various other CH Products devices)Monitor: Samsung SyncMaster 305T+ 2560x1600 30", 6ms, HDCP, S-PVA + Dead Pixel incurrenceOS: Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate UK, SP1, 64bits, Box, OEMSystem 1 Standard 9770 (order now)Cooling: Zalman Reserator XT Black Hybrid Cooling System (single loop)Power: Enermax Galaxy EGX1000EWL 1000WattProcessor: Intel Core 2 Quad QX9770 3.2GHz OC 3.8/4.0GHz (E0 stepping)Motherboard: Asus Striker II Extreme, S775, nF790i, 4xDDR3, ATX BIOS 0704 (6xSATA)Memory 8GB: 2x Corsair Dominator 4GB(2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-16000 2000MHz, 9-9-9-24, 1.9vSystem 2 Skulltrail 9775 (order now)Cooling: 2x Zalman Reserator XT Black Hybrid Cooling System (dual loop)Power: Enermax Galaxy EGX1000EWL 1000Watt of 1200WattProcessor: 2x Intel Core 2 Quad QX9775 3.2GHz OC 3.8/4.0GHz (E0 stepping)Motherboard: Intel D5400XS, S771, 4xDDR2 FB-Dimm, EATXMemory 8GB: Kingston KTAXE800K2/8G, 8GB 800MHz FBDIMMSystem 3 Nehalem Core i7 (order in December)Cooling: Zalman Reserator XT Black Hybrid Cooling System (single loop)Power: Enermax Galaxy EGX1000EWL 1000WattProcessor: Intel (Nehalem) Core i7 965 XE Extreme Edition 3.2GHz OC 3.8/4.0GHzMotherboard: Asus Rampage II Extreme ROG, X58, S1366, EATX, SLI 16x16 or Tri SLI 16x8x8Memory 12GB: Unsure because of vCore and memory voltage uncertainties(option 1) 3x Corsair 1333C9DHX XMS3 DHX 4GB(2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-10666 1333MHz 9-9-9-24, 1.6v(option 2) 2x A-DATA D9GTR Tri Channel, DDR3-1600+ 8-8-8-24 2T at 1.65V-1.75VNAS Storage SystemQNAP TS-509 Pro 5xSATA I/II hotswap RAID5+Spare 3TB free (very fast)SATA HDD: 5x Samsung SpinPoint F1R 1TB, 7200rpm, 32MB, SATAII
