May 12, 200917 yr Author hmmm - This driver is terrible. Stutter galore. Went back to old driver and everything is great.Nick N - Have you tested this yet?
May 12, 200917 yr The performance is the same or very similiar to 182.50.My GTX280 produces more heat with this driver (+5 - 8 deg. C)On middle monitor I can see a white line in the uppest row. Will revert to 182.50. Bartłomiej Ender
May 12, 200917 yr Tried the 185 in Win7 as well. Same problem - Extreme crackling with the GTX285.DO NOT USE THEM! THEY ARE INFERIOR!

May 12, 200917 yr They work fine for me on my GTX285.TimThe 185.85 also work excellent here with Win7 7100 64bit: CPU C2D 4.1ghz Ram 4gb 1066 Gpu GTX285 1gb.I have tested them with FS9.1 and FSX sp1 & sp2 on those OS: XP32bit, XP64bit and Win7 64bit.Besides Win7, they didn't improve on quality or fps.Again, they're excellent on Win7 64bit (first good drivers I think). I have the bufferpools set to 490MB, as suggested here on this forum, and they nevertheless induce cracking and popping to either the built in soundcard or the Creative Labs Soundblaster Audigy. The 182.xx didn't behave that way.185.x produce this crackling in both Vista64 and Win7 64 here. What are your settings in the fsx.cfg? Do you have any special settings applied there or elsewhere? And how do they work with nHancer? I still struggle to get nHancer working in Win7 - settings do not affect FSX at all...

I do not use nor do I need BufferPools.nHancer 2.51 is working fine with the 182's and 185.85. The cracking and popping is something I had in heavy load situations with Vista64. I have since ditched Vista64 for XP x64 which doesn't have the cracking/popping. I'm still testing Win7 x64 but so far with the 185.85 it is smooth flying, no cracking noise and equivalent performance as in XP 32 or 64 bit.I wish I could help more but configurations are so different nowadays, it is hard to pinpoint a particular solution for a particular problem.PierreSettings in fsx.cfg are default except TBM=70 (fm ori at 40). May 12, 200917 yr There IS a defined issue showing up with the 185's and bufferpoolsThe ONLY TIME bufferpools needs to be 400+ is to combat sound crackle issuesThere are reports of higher bufferpools (100-200MB) helping with SMOOTH flight on the GTX 2 series cards however that appears the be hit and missBufferpools is NOT a DEFINED value that works for everyoneSo if these drivers work WITHOUT bufferpools in the config file AND resolve the sound issue at the same time without killing smooth flight over large amounts of autogen (trees especially) then use them however what I am hearing these drivers are not that goodSomething I learned a long time ago with FSX .. I do not flip drivers on release. I stick with what works in my systems. I may check them out from time to time but I dont just run out and do it because Nvidia released a new driverNOTE: IN ORDER TO USE DRIVER 182 AND ABOVE THE NEW NHANCER MUST BE USED (2.5.1 OR ABOVE) IN ORDER TO USE DRIVER 181 AND UNDER THE 2.4.5 VERSION OF NHANCER MUST BE USED. I hae to set filter and AA in FSX.Darem,I've repported the same issues since release of the 185.85s. In DX9 mode in FSX DPC Latency goes through the roof (which translates in stutters and audio issues) and there is nothing you can do to correct the issue (increasing or decresing the bufferpool setting has no effect). However , if you run in DX10 Preview you will notice the problem disappears. I will be sticking the 182.50s for now DX10 Preview is no substitiute for the graphical quality of DX9 mode. Here's the link to the DPC Latency checker tool if anyone wants to check latency on their system:http://www.thesycon.de/deu/latency_check.shtmlKeep in mind there are some people who say they are not experiencing the high DPC Latency in DX9 mode with these drivers. The majority of simmers I have spoke with that were having sound/stuttering problems with the 185.85s had high DPC Latency in DX9 mode and rolling back their drivers was the solution.
May 12, 200917 yr I've noticed a strange abnormality with the installation of these drivers on different computers. During the first attempt to install the drivers, the computers often crash. Then when I attempt to install these drivers a second time (from the same download and installer) to correct the corrupted install, then they install fine.
May 12, 200917 yr With the 185's, I experienced both a degradation in fps and an increase in stuttering. Just to make sure, I installed them twice using the method promulgated here on Flightsim. Same result. I've gone back to the 182 driver and the problems disappeared.GeoffreyQ6600, Kingston DDR2, Asus Striker Extreme, Asus 8800 Ultra, XP Pro SP3, FSX Acceleration
