Sanity Check - How many Addons Do You Have?

Featured Replies

Hi,Just out of curiosity, I decided to see how big my FS9 folder was.All I can say is W O W, it over 70 gig. 70.3 to be exact. That's a ton of addons.
Howdy,I guess I have somewhere around 200 to 250. What I don't want to know is how much I have paid or invested into FS9. I have as least three file drawers full of documents etc that I have printed out to go with the software sooo that is more $$. Anyway it has been a good hobby as long as the wife doesn't know the cash outlay I have made over the years on an entry level software package of $40. Carl

Mine is about 120 GB with close to 160 backup CDs and DVDs. Mostly payware. But I only fly just three or four aircraft (mostly GAs) in any single month. If I had to do it all over again, I will probably be happy with: 1) just RealAir planes; and 2) Misty/Tongass/Glacier Bay. Throw in VOZ and Kai Tak/St Maarten for completeness. And I'd also be OK with just one heavy, the Level-D 767.

2 PAY WARE 2 free ware but only the 2 free ware are installed ..and like chock said the load bar flys accross the screen..1200 is quite alot..

I've been relaxing at my home in Sydney for the last couple of weeks, (thinking about may be moving home to L.A. for the Aussie winter), while waiting for my next development assignment. I've been a little bit bored and decided to see how many Freeware/Payware addons I can stuff into FS9. I'm at around 1200, (give or take a few), and was wondering if that is totally insane or what? Flight Simulator takes about 5 minutes to load because I've installed so many AI packages. So the question of the hour is...how many addons are to much and how many do you have? Thanks for the sanity check if you decide to respond!Mark

I'm around 100GB. Many liverys and so on (and the entire WOAI installed as well as some custom AI). Not to mention what I have on DVD backed up.Most of it I do not use. I only have it on there on the off chance I may get the urge to fly some where I do not normally do, and it does happen....Sad but true...

I have both FS9 and FSX installed at the moment, and together they weigh in at 190GB.The external hard drive that I use to backup my addons currently has 87GB of stuff on it for both sims :)I'll be the first to admit most of it doesn't get touched after the first few hours, but it's nice to have the choice to fly anything from a SR-71 to a C172. I'm also a compulsive FS9 scenery collector, with 524 entries in my scenery.cfg for airports all around the world. My other hobby is building 1/48th scale model aircraft, I have around 40 or so kits waiting to be built. I have seen members on a modelling forum I visit post pictures of their "kit stash" that would put a lot of model shops to shame! We're talking entire cellars or lofts crammed full of model kits :)

Don't even get me started on model kits.....I just purged a bunch through a friend on EBay and at his yard sale. My wife will only tolerate so many model kits being on display and stored in the basement....

You know you're Australian if You can translate..."Dazza and Shazza played Acca Dacca on the way to Maccas."Mark

My aircraft folder is 12.3GB, with 6,043 folders (mostly AI skins). Surely this must account for the sim slow-down I've been having...

my aircraft folder is 12.7 GBmain FS folder is 36 GBnot too shabby.no ai installed though as I only fly online.
