Interesting New Program

I came across a neat little program that externally limits FPS in Flight Simulator, and it works much better than the internal limiter. Leave the program in it's own File, start the program, and select your Fs9.exe. Limit the Frames to your desired and start the newly created .bat file. Inside Flight simulator set your frames to unlimited and there you go! http://rapidshare.com/files/205205148/FPS_Limiter_0.2.rarAs always, this may or may not work for you...

Does nothing for me - un"rared" it (in a temporary folder) and clicked on the exe file - nothing. How do you have yours set up?

OpaI've just downloaded and it does work but only tested quickly. Set fps to unlimited in FS9Click FPS_Limiter_GUI.jar not the .exe. GUI opens navigate to and select fs9.exe; this produces BAT file. Use the BAT file to start FS9.It does limit the FPS but I'm not sure what the point of it is......RegardsSimonBrighton UK

Hi Simon, where does it create the BAT file?. I'm giving it a go, as it seems to allow "on the fly" (no pun intended) control of FPS.....

HiIt put the BAT in the folder I installed it into - have just done a two hourish flight and worked fine - still not sure of the point though!regardsSimonBrightonUK

"still not sure of the point though!"Sounds very much like a parallel to "FPS_Limiter_0.2" for FSX.I see no need relative to FS9 if one has reasonably updated hardware and is getting smooth performance with decent frame rates (which I am thankful to enjoy with everything maxed out and a multitude of addons). However, the similar program mentioned above in FSX does smooth out stutters for some where the frame rate variation is wide between complex and more user friendly scenery. If you have this problem at all in FS9, it would be worth a try to see if it helps. The sequel program sure works (My frame rates do still vary and exceed the limit a little bit but no where near what it does without the program), and is a significant help according to a number of replies or posts. for FSX.Happy flying:RTH

Concur...I've got it loaded for FSX (FPS Limiter) and set frames to unlimited and control "smoothness" with autogen slider...works well with new i7 CPUs in FSX ,but not sure about efficacy in FS9...if I set my frames to unlimited in FSX, I can get frame bouncing anywhere from 40FPS to over 150FPS--the magnitude of oscillation causes stutters (even though frame rate remains very high). For FS9, with my new system, I set 60FPS because that's where it defaulted to at initial install...incredibly smooth...in fact if I downtune to say 40FPS, I get less smoothness...my biggest challenge has been tweaking Vista 64-Bit Ultimate to play nicely with FS9 and all the addons.Rich PerryIntel i7 965 Extreme Quad Core CPU (turbo o/c to 3.8Ghz)Asus P6T x58 MOBONvidia GTX 285 2GB GPU EVGAOCZ 6GB DDR3 RAM 1800MHzVel Raptor 300GB SATA II HD 10000rpmSB X-fi ExtremeDell 24 1920x1200Vista Ultimate 64-bit (SP2)UT/GE PRO/FSG/FE/RE/FSelemental/AS6.5/TrackIR4/PMDG (all)/Wilco/PSS 757/Legacy/Level D/tons of payware/addon airports etc.
Yeah, sorry fella's. Maybe should move this to the FSX forum. I even typed FS9! :( Helps with the stutters.
Is this program for FSX or FS9? and what sort of progam does not include any instructions on use?

Solves some issues with the FPR limiter in Flight simulator. I actually did notice less stutters with internal fps unlimited and the external limiter working in FS9. Though it's so subtle I've trashed the program.
