June 16, 200916 yr Recently I have replaced my GeForce 7950 GX2 with a GeForce 9800 GT graphics card.Ever since I installed the new graphics card, I'm getting corrupt textures in FS2004. I have already downloaded the most recent drivers from Nvidia. But this doesn't solve the problem.I start at a default airport with the PMDG 737/747 (e.g. at MMUN), and just sit and wait for about 5 minutes on the runway without doing or touching anything, when suddenly the textures get corrupt. See the attached screenshots. I already fiddled with the settings of the graphics card, but I have no idea which setting is causing these problems. If anyone knows which setting I have to change, or which setting is causing these texture problems, please fill me in.I'm using FS2004 on WinXP 32-bits, 4GB RAM, Intel Pentium 4 3.80 Ghz. single core. I'm not overclocking any hardware. These problems didn't appear with my "old" graphics card.Any help is greatly appreciated.Jon
June 16, 200916 yr I'm having the same issues. What drivers are you using? Maybe heat related? ___________________________________________________________________________________ Zachary Waddell -- Caravan Driver -- Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/zwaddell Avsim ToS Avsim Screenshot Rules
June 17, 200916 yr Author I'm using the latest drivers (185.85). I don't think it's heat related because this already starts happening after about 5 min. Even if I have just booted up the computer. I'm thinking of buying my old card again, because right now FS is pretty useless. Unless someone knows what the problem might be.Jon
June 17, 200916 yr Actually, it could take MUCH less time than that to heat up. You need to check it! ___________________________________________________________________________________ Zachary Waddell -- Caravan Driver -- Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/zwaddell Avsim ToS Avsim Screenshot Rules
June 17, 200916 yr Author Well heat or no heat. There is not much I can do about that.Besides that, if the card already overheats after about 5 min or less, it's a bad card in my opinion. I previously had the 7950 GX2 (basically 2 cards in one with a much smaller fan). I never had heat problems with that one.I think it's more or less a problem with the drivers.Jon
June 17, 200916 yr Well, unless you trouble shoot, you'll never know... ___________________________________________________________________________________ Zachary Waddell -- Caravan Driver -- Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/zwaddell Avsim ToS Avsim Screenshot Rules
June 17, 200916 yr Author Well, since you're having the same issues. What have you already come up with?Jon
June 19, 200916 yr Try rolling back to a different driver... It seems the 185 drivers are troublesome... I see 182.50 being mentioned a lot as working...There is a thread on the PMDG support forum about sound issues, but as an aside, the 185.85 drivers were mentioned as being a major problem...Check out 182.50, and make sure you install them properly...Andrew Andrew Entwistle
June 20, 200916 yr Author I already tried the new beta drivers (186), but that also didn't help. I can try the drivers you suggested (182.50), but can you tell me where I can find them?Jon
June 20, 200916 yr Download GPUz and check the sensors page to see the tempshttp://www.techpowerup.com/gpuz/That first shot looks like artifacting to me (heat issues) | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
June 20, 200916 yr Author I tried the older drivers (182.50), but unfortunately that doesn't help. Also I've monitored the temperature with GPUz and the temperature does not get above 59 degrees Celcius. So it cannot be a heat problem.I've already tried using a table fan blowing on the graphicscard, but that doesn't help either. It's not a heat problem, and also using different drivers (older, recent and beta ones) don't solve the problem. I think that this GT card doesn't like older games from 2003.The only solution I can think of is reverting back to my old card (7950 GX2).Jon
