KIAD FMC data

Featured Replies

I was doing a flight from KIAD to KJFK in FSX and as I was filling the flight plan I noticed there was no data(no runways no sids no stars) so I just ignored it and just took off and decided to just fly to a nearby VOR and continue but then later I was flying from KDTW to KIAD and again, no data(No runways, no sids, no stars) so I asked a friend on gamespy and he had all the data but he said he updates his sids and stars often though. I asked another person and he didn't have any of the data for KIAD so I thought, I will just update my sids and stars but nope that didn't work. The weird thing is the 747 and the md11 don't have any of the data. I updated my sids and stars from this site, I think it was planepath.com and and that installed but still nothing. I went into the sids and stars folder and it had the file KIAD in there and it had data but like the FMC is not picking it up.Anyone else having this problem or have a suggestion where I can fix this?

Have a look here...http://forums1.avsim.net/index.php?showtop...p;#entry1584591Dan does the SID/STAR procs for a number of US airports (KIAD included) and matches them to the current AIRACs on navigraph...Don't thank me for posting the link, thank Dan for doing this in his own spare time and making it available for all of us :DAndrew

Andrew, thank you."thefsxflyer," please sign your posts in this forum. If you are using outdated procedures, or sidstars of a different cycle from the navdata, you will have problems at places such as KIAD (and KORD, KSEA, etc) that have new or changed runway numbers. The 737/747 will unsually display a "not in database" error message and the MD11 will list "none" so I'm not sure what is going on if you are not seeing either of these.Updates are available from navigraph.com, and as Andrew mentioned, I provide customized procedures for 68 US locations that you can add on top of the navigraph of the same cycle.Hope this helps.

Whoops! I forgot to sign my nameHmmm, When I was doing to flight to KIAD I got a messege saying something like runway 1L error or something like it might have been a different runway. I have actually downloaded Dan's sids/star package before and I will try again. Taylor Oldham <---Didn't forget it this time :)

***Update****I installed sid/star package(second time) from Dan and still nothing... Is it because my 747 and my md-11 are installed together?Taylor Oldham

I just did a flight into KIAD about a three weeks ago and there were no STAR for the active runway but the FMC in the MD-11 still tuned the ILS. It wasn't a problem for me because Radar Contact vectored me in to intercept the LOC. I can confirm that there were no STARs.

Yes but my problem goes far worst then that. I have no runways listed or even approaches such as ils.Taylor Oldham

The thing that comes to mind is the AIRAC data you have installed...Do you have a subscription to the Navigraph service, and if so, which AIRAC do you have? It is listed on one of the FMS pages, which one I cannot say off the top of my head right now (in the office, no manuals to hand here)I haven't flown the MD-11 in the US for a time now, perhaps I will get the time to jet around a bit this afternoon/evening...Andrew

I believe I have 0808 but that might not be correct. I don't have a subscription and I just bought the plane in april I believe so I have the latest update from PMDG. I could reinstall it but I would rather have that last case because I have many many liveries installed right now and those are a pain to reinstall.Taylor Oldham

Taylor, the airac data and the sidstars should be the same cycle. If you are using the navdata that came with the aircraft and have installed newer sidstars then this is your problem. The pmdg download does not include current navdata. The sidstar file and the airac data work together in the FMS; for example, the procedure file defines a departure or arrival for a runway but the runway is defined in the airac data. If these don't match you get an error. All errors in data are displayed by the MD11 MCDU with "NONE" instead of error messages that are displayed by the 737/747 CDUs.Subscribe to the FMS Data service at Navigraph, get a current download from them. The download includes airac and sidstar data for the world. Then you can add on top of those sidstars downloads such as mine or Terry Yingling's from planepath.com.Hope this helps.
