June 24, 200916 yr I have the latest version of the old RC4 for FS2004 and it gives the compass direction and distance to the active runway. A lot of the time I need more help that that. I have a new computer and I'm using default ATC and the PINK ribbon to find my way to the active. Have they improved the "way to the active" in the newer version and if so, how does it work? Thanks jerrycwo4
June 25, 200916 yr There is no "pink ribbon" in real world so why don't you just use aerodrome chart like real pilots do to find the way to runway? :)
June 26, 200916 yr Author I very much dislike responces like this to questions. All you did was waste your time. I would not have taken my time to post the question to get an answer like this. The reason is I am not a real pilot and I do NOT want to use a chart to find the active, I just want to get there that's why I use the "pink ribbon of FS2004 default's ATC. I have read other reviews that some other people would like a new or better way to find the active, just like me. The question again, has some of the new versons CHANGED to way they assist you in finding the active runway? jerrycwo4

Using that makes taxiing so much easier and is perhaps the equivalent of the charts used in the r/w.Sadly there's no indication yet of when v5 will be available. June 27, 200916 yr Author Right now I am flying the Level-D 767-300. Thanks to both of you for giving me the best info that you could. I do have the older version of RC4 on another computer but I think I'm going to hold off using RC4 on my new computer until you finish your new version 5 . Until then I'll just use FS2004 default ATC. Thanks for taking the time to reply. jerrycwo4

I'd rather have boiling oil poured over me! :( Ray (Cheshire, England). June 28, 200916 yr There is no "pink ribbon" in real world so why don't you just use aerodrome chart like real pilots do to find the way to runway? :)In the "real" world ie London Heathrow pilots are told to "follow the greens" That is the taxiway route to or from the rwy is lit up just ahead of each a/c. The system has been in use for as long a I can remember and I've been flying 25 years Super VC10 into LOWI with PF3 at a cinema near you https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=298UDyNmgUA
June 29, 200916 yr The system has been in use for as long a I can remember and I've been flying 25 yearsI started in ATC at Heathrow in 1967 and we had it then. It always amuses me that people think there's no equivalent to the "pink line" in the real world. As you've pointed out, there most certainly is.Pete
July 13, 200916 yr HiI use the program follow me in FSX. Since the directions to the runway have been disabled in RC4 I changed all of the menu keys 1 2 3 etc to shift control 1 etc. I use a belkin n52 for all keyboard commands since it it progammable and a lot easier than using the standard keyboard. With this methoe you can still use your standard FSX ATC while sitting at your parking bay to get clearance and a route to your runway, then bring in the follow me vehicle. From here on you turn FSX ATC off and start from scratch with RC4. It only takes an extra 10seconds and bobs your uncle.I hope this helps. :(

Best, the author has been developing a stand-alone version of Follow Me which computes the taxi routes itself, so saving having to use FSX ATC at all. It will also include a specially designed interface for Radar Contact (and other programs), so that you don't even need to use its runway or gate selection dialogue -- RC5 will hopefully do that part.RegardsPete Win10: 22H2 19045.2728 CPU: 9900KS at 5.5GHz Memory: 32Gb at 3800 MHz.
