June 27, 200916 yr Hi guys,Im flying the MD-11 with a lot of joy! I have just one problem that recently appeared. My brakes dont seem to work anymore. I tried several flights and several loaded panel states and the hydraulics seem to be ok as well. The breaking is also indicated in FSX, but still no breaking action - not nice to end up in the green...What am I doing wrong?Cheers,Macc
June 27, 200916 yr :( Hi Macc, I have been experiencing the same problem recently, but with a slight variance !!! For example, when I load my initial tutorial flight in the PMDG house colors from EGLL to LSZH, which I constructed back in January when I first got my FSX MD-11, my brakes do not work. I've checked the Status Display for hydraulics and, apart from a small difference in the numbers, all looked good. When I pressed the pressure test button, I receive a message stating that the Hydraulic Pressure Test has failed !!! I then apply brakes as I am taxiing, and my baby refuses to stop.I then loaded a very similar tutorial, (EGLL to LSZH), which I had constructed in March using the SwissAir colors, and LO and Behold, all is well ! My babe stops "on a dime". I ran the aforementioned Pressure Test, and once again receive the same message about 'Hyd. Press. Test failed', even though the brakes are working. I am totally confused as I have not made any changes and, the original tutorial flight used to work perfectly.I am going to do a similar test in FS9. Will report on the results.Cheerio, and safe flying !!!Godfrey G. :(

The Hydraulic test needs to be done indeed before engine startup. I dont have any error messages when doing so. I tried now older tutorial flights, etc and none of them is letting me stop by the breakes, even though braking action is indicated by FSX. However, I found a solution. Choose a different model, such as the PMDG livery, test the braking action with a engine started panel (which didnt work before) and check. It then worked - I switched to my most preferred livery and now it seems to be ok...Some strange going on there, but here is the solution...Cheers,Macc
June 28, 200916 yr The hydraulic test needs to be run with engines shut down. Thanks for your advice Macc and Dan. Yes, the tests are performed with the engines off but, it does not reveal any problems as being present, but, there is still no brake actuation! As Macc said, the FSX message conveys the impression that the brakes are at work when, in reality, the aircraft will not stop.Macc, I will try your suggested workaround but, there 'has to be a reason for this sudden abnormality', which has made some of my 'landings' and even 'taxiings' an adventure, a "hair raising adventure" non the less. I spend a ton of my spare time flying PMDG's magnificent birds (747 and MD-11,and cannot wait for the J 41 and the 737NG !!!), thus I do not post in this great forum often. But, I just have to investigate this issue, which is an annoyance in this otherwise 'magnificent' model, and I would truly appreciate it if one of the PMDG staffers or knowledgeable beta testers could offer some helpful advice on this nagging and potentially "Disaster prone" failure. :( FYI, I do not have any failures activated at this time, as I am still developing my 'proficiency' as a 'First Officer', sitting in the 'Captain's Seat' :( Respectfully,Godfrey G. :(
July 2, 200916 yr This brake problem just started tonight for me also - never had this problem until this evening. All systems show as normal yet when pressing the brakes no reaction???Mike Mike Normandeau Montreal, Canada

I have even gone so far as to delete some of my saved flights !!! I certainly hope some kind of helpful pointers will be forthcoming from the busy, but helpful team at PMDG. :( Regards,Godfrey
August 11, 200916 yr Phew :( , thank you Mike !!! For a moment, I was starting to believe that I was imagining this issue. I have even gone so far as to delete some of my saved flights !!! I certainly hope some kind of helpful pointers will be forthcoming from the busy, but helpful team at PMDG. :( Regards,GodfreyHi All,I am a new user for MD11. I had to reinstall FSX and ever since, I cannot brake at all! Not taxiing, or during landing, always overshoot the runway :(What could be the issue? I've seen references to fsuipc.dll, I made sure I have the latest version. Note this does not happen with stock aircraft or other add-ons, like CS757Thank you Stefan Stefan Ticusan
November 19, 200916 yr Any update on this issue? I have been reading posts on this subject and don't see any hope of a fix. It is definitely annoying, since for me it happens about 50% of the time and am doing nothing different in my start up sequence. FSX shows "Brake" in the bottom left, as it thinks it is braking, yet the MD-11 just keeps on a truck'n. i9 10920x @ 4.8 ~ MSI Creator x299 ~ 256 Gb 3600 G.Skill Trident Z Royal ~ EVGA RTX 3090ti ~ Sim drive = M.2 2-TB ~ OS drive = M.2 is 512-gb ~ 5 other Samsung Pro/Evo mix SSD's ~ EVGA 1600w ~ Win 10 Pro Dan Prunier

After loading the airplane (the panel status doesn't seem to matter), try to load the PMDG default aircraft. Try the brakes, they will most likely work. Then switch back to your preferred livery, you will then have braking action. Stefan Stefan Ticusan

Since a livery is nothing more than a skin and would suggest the programming points to specific liveries or models. But becuase of your suggestion, and success with this, I will check my aircraft.cfg when I get home and see if there are any abnormalities. I don't think there are, but I'll try the default of few runs if not. i9 10920x @ 4.8 ~ MSI Creator x299 ~ 256 Gb 3600 G.Skill Trident Z Royal ~ EVGA RTX 3090ti ~ Sim drive = M.2 2-TB ~ OS drive = M.2 is 512-gb ~ 5 other Samsung Pro/Evo mix SSD's ~ EVGA 1600w ~ Win 10 Pro Dan Prunier
