So why not program a random generator into the FMS? /roll 3 gives a 0, 1 or 2 which would be the offset used.

...yes. So now instead of having everybody passing within 1000ft of each other on the airway, they pass within 1000ft while 1 or 2 miles from the centerline. VERY smart of ICAO. There have been better separation techniques suggested, I wonder why ICAO doesn't use one of those instead.Paul
