July 1, 200916 yr Guys,What are the sceneries available for KDTW Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport in the FS world, payware or freeware? What is the opinion on quality?ThanksShez Shez Ansari Windows 11; CPU: Intel Core i7-8700K; GPU: EVGA GEFORCE GTX 1080Ti 11GB; MB: Gigabyte Z370 AORUS Gaming 5; RAM: 16GB; HD: Samsung 960 Pro 512GB SSD, Samsung 850 Pro 256GB SSD; Display: ASUS 4K 28", Asus UHD 26"
July 1, 200916 yr The one I know of and use is the payware by Imagine Simulation (http://www.imaginesim.com/kdtw01.htm). It's one of their earlier sceneries and it shows, performance and quality wise. It has a couple of bugs and it is also outdated as it lacks the new North Terminal. Would love to see the airport (re)done decently (no default ground textures Mike...
July 1, 200916 yr I've used the KDTW51.zip version done by Paul Mainville, but it was done in early 2004 and probably is a bit dated now.scott s..
July 1, 200916 yr Hi,There were a few freewares in the library. I guess the best I have seen is the stock FSX airport. It looks pretty real.
July 1, 200916 yr The KDTW from Imagine Simulations is dated and a rather poor performer. It would be a great thing to see this airport tackled again to get it up to date and improve it's performance. Driving past DTW almost everyday points out to me how much has changed there since the Imagine Sim version came out. Would love to see my home field done proud! Regards, Joe Esposito
July 2, 200916 yr Hi,There were a few freewares in the library. I guess the best I have seen is the stock FSX airport. July 2, 200916 yr Ya... so, the best KDTW is in FSX and I also stated there were some freewares out there for FS04. Maybe it's another reason to get FSX??
July 2, 200916 yr Ya... so, the best KDTW is in FSX and I also stated there were some freewares out there for FS04. Maybe it's another reason to get FSX??There's no reason to get FSX at least not for a couple more years. July 2, 200916 yr If at all. And if Shez wants to know about FSX, I'm sure he'll post in the FSX Forum. Likewise, if we want to know something about FSX, we'll go to the FSX Forum... Mike...
July 3, 200916 yr Shez KDTW would be great for you to do but I remember writing you awhile back about updating your FS2k2 scenery for Long Beach Intl. We really need that one in the FS9 LA area. Just the same KDTW would cool for you to tackle. Are you apart of the KPHL project, if so what's a relative ETA on it's completion (I'd really like to retire my Simflyers version)? July 3, 200916 yr Shez, you must get slammed by all the people that want you create your wonderful scenery for a particular airport...but...the first thing that popped into my head when I read you're pondering Detriot was KLGB II or 2, and also :) But anything from you would be nice...Dillon's request could be construed as something many of us have been wanting for awhile now :)Mark
July 3, 200916 yr Author Dillon,www.sunskyjet.com is the KPHL project and yes I am a part of this along with Ian Gibson. It will be out very soon as we are almost there on Beta Test commencement. Have a look at the forums for WIP pics.As regards KLGB, I basically put this on slow development and am 95% done. I have left the ground as default but I may go back to the drawing board which may take time. Not sure if people want a custom designed ramp texture because this version has a photoreal base already? Am going to try and push this out the door until the next project is decided. As regards KDTW, I have flown through this airport many times and love it. It is the best airport in the US in my opinion. I feel we do not have a full scale freeware (although the Mainville version is pretty good and I use it). Let's see...maybe if there is enough clamour :(:) .Shez Shez Ansari Windows 11; CPU: Intel Core i7-8700K; GPU: EVGA GEFORCE GTX 1080Ti 11GB; MB: Gigabyte Z370 AORUS Gaming 5; RAM: 16GB; HD: Samsung 960 Pro 512GB SSD, Samsung 850 Pro 256GB SSD; Display: ASUS 4K 28", Asus UHD 26"
