Has anyone tried Flight Sim Tools Contrails Pro?In the demo version the effects seem pretty good but I'm finding it a real frame rate killer - most times my FS9 system runs at 30fps but turning on Contrails drops that to around 16fps!And that's with traffic at 33%.

I don't use it but it's my understanding that you can, through there program, edit contrail lengths, etc. yourself. Perhaps you've got the settings a little too high?

My suggestion, try to use these contrails http://www.realenvironmentxtreme.com/downloads.html scroll down a little and you will find it. The name is "Custom 3d Contrails", and don't pay attention on "FSX Only" thing, they work perfect in FS9, i use them.

Maybe they put the "FSX Only" disclaimer there for a reason? :( I believe it tweaks some things besides contrails, right?

I don't think so, if I get your point right.I've downloaded it and there are only two effect files plus two bimtmap textures.Best regards

Yeap, just two files like in FS9 and two bitmaps. No install, no tweak or something, just copy/paste thing. :(

Well I tried it and didn't notice any significant hit in FPS - it maybe went down from 32 to 30. Try playing around with options - decreasing the visibility distance for contrails may help.Or ask in their forum, it is a new product, maybe there is a problem. they are quite good at fixing issues.Their contrails sure do look amazing. They stretch for miles and have a very fine and realistic texture. They don't look that great when you zoom in directly on the plane's exhaust, but overall sky picture with contrails is much more convincing than what you get with contrail effects.

REX will be released for FS9, though, so you might as well wait until they's released that and buy the entire package. I know I will: it will be the rebirth of FS9 for me.
