July 23, 200916 yr Hi. I hope someone could provide step by step procedure (hold my hand) to enable more than 2gb of memory. WinXP Pro 32 bit, FS9, 4gb ram. Thanks in advance,MichaelMichaelThere are good instructions here: http://forums.simflight.com/viewtopic.php?f=50&t=70063. It is not an easy process in FS9.NickN a frequent poster on this site has also published guides in theis area on this and various forums.RegardsPeterH
July 23, 200916 yr It is an easy process, here's what I did:http://forums.flightsim.com/fswiki/index.php/OOM_Error | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
July 23, 200916 yr It is an easy process, here's what I did:http://forums.flightsim.com/fswiki/index.php/OOM_Error So, does this mean if I have SP2 installed the 3GB switch is already installed and nothing further needs doing???Bruce

July 23, 200916 yr Hey GuysThe OP asked about FS9 ie FS2004 !!! NOT FSX!! - very different when applying the /3GB switch as you have to make it Large address aware (and FSX pre SP2)ThanksPeterH
July 24, 200916 yr yeah if you are still getting OOM's then you need to put those lines inOkay, thanks!! I've only seen one OOM instance -- ever, but will go ahead and add the lines.Bruce

July 26, 200916 yr yup, and Bruce asked about SP2 and the 3G switch which relates to FSX. We try to help everybody here. :)VgbaronYour post doesn't make any sense. In my post - second on this topic I was merely commenting that it is not easy to carry out the /3GB switch on FS9 and the next post (ie 3rd post) by Ryan implies that it is but in fact his "FIX" applied to FSX. I am here to help everyone too. :( RegardsPeterH
August 7, 200916 yr I am new to the tweaking area, but am wondering if this is something I can benefit from. Here is my specs...Intel 6600 Quad core OC'd to 3.2 ghz4 gb ram(2) Nvidia 8800GTX at 768 MBWindows XP 32 bit versionAlthough, I've never had an OOM error in FSX I do experience stutters. Could it be possible that my two video cards are taking up too much of the ram causing the stutters? Would I be better off pulling one out and using the 3gb switch to allow more memory for FSX hopefully reducing stutters? Again, I am a complete noob when it comes to tweaking systems so any advice is appreciated. Thanks,John
