July 29, 200916 yr WOW :( guys, thank you so much for all the suggestions! I've now got the place running as smooth as is possible with the runway config! I'm using both runways for landing but only 23L for takeoffs. thus far there are very few delays with crossing traffic. I believe that if a real world aircraft flies into EGCC then it's part of my FP's on FS9, so lots of traffic!!I do have some other issues though I can't explain! A small number of aircraft (about 5%) are landing well short of the runway and suddenly appear from the trees, also a couple of times aircraft have not responded to ATC and have had thier FP terminated. Any thoughts??Cheers again. You have a broken airport. Using any airport design utility such as AFX or AFCAD breaks the working part of a airport when you renumber runways that have approach code (see Ronzie's post above). Open the GPS Reciecer approach page and you see the 06/24 approaches are no longer working since your runway numbers are now 05/23. All the AI Planes are flying the AI_Player.dll visual approach and some will fall through the hard coded 2000 AGL hard floor FAF altitude (poor AI Plane behavior). AFCAD was never completed in order to address anyone that changed a runway number. AFX has no excuse and warnings should be issued to tell everyone that changing a runway number breaks the approach code. You have 3 options to put the airport back to a working state as per MS.1. Write a new approach code and chance the 3 ILS and 4 VORDME approaches so they coorespond to runways 05/23.2. Download ADE9X and use the Approach Mode Editor. Change all appraches that still point to 06/24 to your new runway numbers of 05/23.3. Download a EGCC that has the approach code repaired. The link for ADE9Xhttp://www.downloadcenter.scruffyduck.org.uk/ jack
July 29, 200916 yr Jim, can the Approach Mode Editor be used to produce an approach file independently from the Afcad for a particular airport? Say I have an Afcad which has the necessary changes, do I still need to load it with ADE9X in order to make approach changes such as a renumbering? Will ADE9X make changes to the Afcad? Also, is the ILS and GPS Approach Creator by Martin Gleeson an acceptable tool to add a basic ILS approach to FS9 that wasn't in FS9 in any form to begin with? July 29, 200916 yr Hi, OnurK I am using EditVoicePack!Jack, I've downloaded ADE9X and have been getting used to using it however I don't seem to be able to find the Approach Mode Editor!! I think this maybe a little over my head :( Fox
July 29, 200916 yr Downloading ADE9X right now!! :( Fox, I thought EditVoicePack may have causing the AI not to reply to the ATC, apparentely, the problem was related to the approach codes. :( Onur K. Visit my FS blog: Clear Right...
July 29, 200916 yr Jack, I've downloaded ADE9X and have been getting used to using it however I don't seem to be able to find the Approach Mode Editor!! I think this maybe a little over my head :(It isn't an area I have yet delved into as I have never experienced this problem. This is no doubt the case with my add-on EGCC because the default airport and the add-on use the same runway numbers (6/24). But, in ADE, when you have loaded your Airport, there will be a box top right marked Approach Mode. Click on that and that will switch to approach mode editing. Don't ask me what to do next (!), stick with Jack's guidance.John My co-pilot's name is Sid and he's a star! http://www.adventure-unlimited.org

Will ADE9X make changes to the Afcad? Also, is the ILS and GPS Approach Creator by Martin Gleeson an acceptable tool to add a basic ILS approach to FS9 that wasn't in FS9 in any form to begin with? You open your AFCAD bgl with ADE9. Now import the navaid/waypoints and approaches which ADE will get out of the stock bgl. Your AFCAD BGL now has all the approach code data. Open the approach mode of ADE and change your runway approaches. Save and Compile. You now have your same AFCAD bgl but with all the Navaids and approaches that AFCAD could not handle. You can also import all the taxiway signs/buildings into your AFCAD bgl and now you can edit them. The ILS/GPS Approach Creator is for AI Planes only. After you generate a ILS/GPS approach with that tool and open the GPS receiver there is no legs made for the user plane.ADE9X also has a automatic ILS creator that I designed. It makes a generic approach and missed approach for both AI Planes and User plane. If you add a ILS to a runway ADE ask if you want to make the approach from a Chart (real world data) or let ADE make a ILS approach for you (add a checkmark to a box). This way all the AI Planes will continue to use the runway when weather falls to IMC conditions in FS9/FSX. ATC will also say use ILS runway xx.
July 29, 200916 yr Sounds interesting, next time the old approach problem comes up, I'll look into using ADE9X. Mike...
July 30, 200916 yr Hi,For those looking for the approach mode, it's the black button in the upper right corner. Click it again to come back. And to edit an AFCAD file with the default approaches included you:1. File/Open Airport from BGL. Browse to your AFCAD file.2. Tools/Import from Stock Airport.3. Select at least Navaids and Waypoints, and Approaches. You can select other stuff here too, if desired.4. Go into Approach Mode (black button in upper right).5. List/Approaches. Select an approach to edit.6. Choose/edit approach legs and/or transitions from the box on the right. For a brand new airport you will not do #2 and 3. You will have to create your approaches from scratch. Use existing approaches as a guide. I use transitions with an IF (initial fix) and one or more TF (To Fix) legs - those are the simplest. :)There is a very detailed forum post by Jim here:http://www.fsdeveloper.com/forum/showthread.php?t=13751Hope this helps, Tom Gibson CalClassic Propliner Page
