July 30, 200916 yr hey guysI searched a few posts in here but am still confused....Question is...Can I get three 22" Wide Screen monitors to run at 3 x 1680 x 1050 ??I have the TH2Go digital edition and three Acer 22" wide screen native res 1680x1050.FSX SP2 Windows Vista 64ATI HD4870cheersGreg
July 30, 200916 yr Maybe...maybe not. Depends on if your monitors support 57Hz. That's what you need for the 1680 x 1050 on 22-inchers with the Digital TH2G.Go here: http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/forum/Scroll down to the "Surround Gaming" forum section dedicated to the TH2G. Under "Surround Hardware and Tech Support" (here): http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/forum...52d7aab1f2ee0aeGo to the second "sticky post" and there is a very, very long discussion about it, with a list of monitors that will do it. You need to see if your monitors are on it. If not....well, there are some "work arounds" that you might be able to use, but your milage may vary. There are also sticky posts about doing it with Vista (and fixes), and an ATI card "problem post". Bookmark the Widescreen Gaming Forum site. If you use the TH2G, you are gonna want to use the Surround Gaming section to keep up with the latest info about the TH2G.Rick Rick Ryan
July 30, 200916 yr ***Addition to Above Reply***Greg,Too late to edit my above reply, I noticed specifically in your post you have the ATI HD4870. One of the Surround Gaming forum posts has a 3-page "problem" thread about using it 3-wide at 5040 x 1050 with the DTH2G. See below:http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/forum...asc&start=0The thread at one point turns into an "ATI vs nVidia" bashing session (who hasn't seen THOSE before ???), but you may find the info in it usefull also. I don't use ATI, so can't offer you any more help with it.Rick Rick Ryan

July 31, 200916 yr Greg,Hi. Me again. Now that you've read a lot of the stuff on the Surround Gaming Forum, I'll give you my own personal opinions. To be sure, they are my OWN opinions, so you would likely get different views from others. But here goes...I've been using the Anolog TH2G for almost 4 years now, on 3 19" monitors. When Matrox came out with the Digital version, I was tempted to buy it, but after thinking about it I didn't. The only "real" advantage to it that I could justify spending the money on it for was the "bezel management" capability. But it occurred to me that the LACK of bezel management wasn't really an issue, especially when it comes to Flight Simulation. With bezel management, parts of the cockpit panel and instruments would be hidden BEHIND the bezels, so it would be difficult to utilize them without panning the screen or using something like the TrackIR to move the viewpoint. And anyhow, after a short while using the Analog version, the fact that the bezels were even there was not "noticable" to me anymore. The human brain is quite adept at "ignoring" things like this, and I don't even "feel" like my view across the three screens is "split" anymore. So I never bought the Digital TH2G when it first came out. Then came the 3-wide possibility of 22" monitors with it (or higher). Well...a bunch of people got screwed with the 57Hz monitor refresh rate requirement, due to the bandwidth limitations of the DTH2G cable setup. Folks ran out and bought 3 22" monitors, only to find out they couldn't use them with the TH2G. Note many of these purchasers bought the DTH2G NOT for the bezel management (that wasn't their PRIMARY reason), but rather for the wider screen resolution. I considered the DTH2G then for the same reasons, but STILL don't have one because of the 57Hz limitation. I figured something would change in the future again...and it has.Matrox recently announced the release of a pure "Display Port Edition" TH2G. Great idea, as it solves the bandwidth problem. However, it is useless unless you have a video card with Display Port Adapters...and they aren't mainstream yet. The new TH2G Display Port Edition works fine on a laptop with a Display Port Adapter, but who is going to link up 3 laptops together?Matrox is "cutting edge" in a lot of areas, but again they seem to have gotton "ahead of the curve" with the new TH2G release. The video card hardware that ISN'T available for it yet makes it kind of a wasted investment right now. So...where am I going with this in relation to your "Which video card..." question? Here...If you buy a new video card NOW for your Digital TH2G, it won't have Display Port capability. Probably in the next 6 months or so, there will be NEWER video cards that do...and they would work just fine also (if they have additonal DVI ports) with your current Digital TH2G. So...you are faced with a dilemma right now...spend a "lot" of money for a good card now for the Digital TH2G, or wait and get a new card with BOTH DVI and Display Port capability for the future.I have always used nVidia because it has "historically" been more compatable for Flight Simulator. ATI has experienced problems and limitations in the past concerning FS. That doesn't mean one is "better" than the other. That's just my choice based on years of IT experience and flight simming. Do your research, decide if you want to ensure future Display Port capability or not, then make a purcahse now or later. In any case, remember that whatever you purchase "today" will be "behind the power curve" as far as new technology within no more than one year...even with video cards. You can join the Surround Gaming Forum and post a request for recommendations on what different users are using re video cards and 5040 x 1050 22" monitor resolutions. You'll find plenty of TH2G users there who "learned the hard way" before getting the hardware (monitors AND video cards) they needed to make their Digital TH2G's work at that resolutionRick Rick Ryan

The latest driver I have successfully used is 182.50, to run three Samsung 226cw 22 inch monitors via the TH2GO, plus a fourth old CRT monitor on the second output.I'm pretty happy with performance in FSX for my outlay in what is not now the latest and greatest. I also use Track IR.Regards, Jim Asus Rog Maximus VIII Hero, i9-10900k 4.8GHZ, Corsair H100 cooler, 32GB Corsair Vengeance 2666, RTX3090 20GB, Win10 HP 64-bit, 3 Monitors "19-22-19", Reverb G2 Headset.
July 31, 200916 yr Since I have been thinking about purchasing the TH2G, your info, Rick, is very informative. I appreciate you taking the time to post it. 10850K, MSI Unify Z490, 32gb G.Skill Ripjaw 3600 CL16, MSI 5700 XT 8gb, Nochua NH-U12a, WD 500gb Black SSD (OS- Windows 10 Pro), Samsung 2tb Evo plus SSD (games), Superflower 850 watts power supply
July 31, 200916 yr I haven't read the prior posts but I use TH2Go at 5040 x 1050 with 3 22" monitorsYou have to get the right drivers and firmware, I use theseNvidia two GTX 280s in SLINvidia Vista64 182.05 DriversMatrox Firmware: VXP2K.THDE.v.2.3.40.t6.52if you use the latest drivers and firmware (believe me I tried) it may not work.DX10 does not support that resolution but FS9 and DX9 in FSX do just fine and with nhancer and the enb bloom set up correctly it will make your sim come alive. Good luck
August 1, 200916 yr Yes, you can get it to work. I wasn't saying it didn't work. You just have to make sure your monitors can do 57Hz, your video card can do it, and as you said also, the correct version of the Matrix GXM and video drivers for your video card are used.It also helps having a small Cray computer, as your system specs show. 5040 x 1050 requires some serious pixel-pushing power. For anyone reading these posts who aren't familiar with the problem requiring monitors to run at 57Hz, it's due to the bandwidth requirement to display a 5040 x 1050 screen. DVI cables can't handle the bandwidth of 5040 x 1050 at 60Hz...the "pipe" is too small. You have to throttle it down to 57Hz for the DVI cable capacity to display 5040 x 1050. That's why Matrox developed the new Display Port TH2G. Display Ports and cables have the bandwidth capacity to run 5040 x 1050 at 60Hz. When newer video cards with Display Port adapters become mainstream, all should be fine with monitors that can't do 57Hz.Also, just to make sure any FSX or FS9 enthusiasts reading this understand...SLI provides no benefit for FS9 or FSX. Two graphics cards in SLI configuration will not increase the performance of FS9 or FSX, with or without the TH2G. It WILL improve the performance of other games (RPG's, First Person Shooters, etc) that are designed to use SLI. But FS9 and FSX can't do that. FS9 and FSX are still CPU dependant...they aren't designed to benefit from SLI (nor use it).Rick Rick Ryan
