August 1, 200916 yr Don't know if anyone else has an eye on this one, but it looks as if the Connie is going to be available soon: it's listed on the Justflight downloads page (http://justflight.com/product.asp?pid=288), but it doesn't have a "Buy Download" button--yet. I hope Justflight does it right!
August 1, 200916 yr Yup, it's not the only contender for for FS, with one or two Connies already about, so let's hope it is something special.Al Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here
August 1, 200916 yr It looks like it will be pretty nice. I'm wondering if it will be near the level of A2A's B377? Robert Yunque PilotEdge Ratings = CAT-11 (2016-09-13) I-11 (2016-10-23) V-3 (2016-08-01)
August 2, 200916 yr It looks like it will be pretty nice. I'm wondering if it will be near the level of A2A's B377?With very few, and mostly high-angle-six-feet-away shots (out of forty-four screenshots) of the VC - there's not a lot to entice me, I think.I want to see the detail - as you mention, SignMan, "at the level of A2A". I don't fly from the cabin, or the washroom, and all the external pics in the world of the pretty BOAC colours aren't going to convince me to buy it. This is 2009 - JustFlight needs to model an HF1 (& 2) with an antenna that needs tuning when you change frequency; a fully interactive Engineer's position; the ability to fly solely from the VC, with all switches, knobs, dials that click, clack and chuck when I twiddle them - all in 3D - and particularly I don't want one that's not even photo-realistic. Cartoon-ish-style cockpits belong in CFS3.I want engines that use oil; that drip; that smoke; that blow a bottom jug every now and then: engines that must be warmed up and that must be monitored.I want crud and scratches - not a "whitish" haze for shoe scrapes (43): I want screws and screwdriver scrapes - and what is holding that (very blank) left part of the instrument panel in place?Yes - please - compete with A2A's AccuSim, PMDG, Carenado, Digital Aviation and LeonardoSH (Maddog). If you're going to produce a "Classic" - then make it a top-notch rendition of that classic! I and a lot of other folks here would gladly pay good money for a Connie in the A2A style of their fabulous StratoCruiser. I don't want something that is just another simulated aircraft that a fifteen-year-old novice can just jump in, hit Ctrl-E, and then take off.... "A complete Virtual Cockpit is modelled and the flight model has been tested by real-world Constellation pilots" Really???Then again - what king of complexity am I going to get for thirty bucks.......Does it look like any of the flight decks of the Connies on www.airliners.net?No. i7 [email protected] | 32GB RAM | EVGA RTX 3080Ti | Maximus Hero VII | 512GB 860 Pro | 512GB 850 Pro | 256GB 840 Pro | 2TB 860 QVO | 1TB 870 EVO | Seagate 3TB Cloud | EVGA 1000 GQ | Win10 Pro | EK Custom water cooling.

August 2, 200916 yr Checking the screen shots. Im not that impressed. I don't want a new Connie, I want one that shows it's age, and sounds like it too. If the cockpit aint showing wear, the wings dont have exhaust streaks, and the paint ain't peeling, I'll stick with what I have :-)
August 2, 200916 yr Author There's nothing in the blurb to suggest that the Justflight Connie will be at the same level as the A2A Stratocruiser.Be that as it may, ya never know. I'm still interested, though; I haven't had a Connie since the excellent freeware L-1049 for FS9. Joel Murray @ CYVR (actually, somewhere about halfway between CYNJ and CZBB)
August 2, 200916 yr I tend to agree with the ones who want realistic engine modeling. The engine modeling on things like the Aerosoft Catalina and A2A stuff are setting the benchmark. And whilst I don't especially want an FS aeroplane that looks or behaves as though I've just taxied it out of a boneyard, the main reason airliners such as the Connie had four engines (apart from the power to weight ratio), was that they needed that many because of the reliability issues with older reciprocating engines compared to modern jets that can cheerfully set off across the Pacific with just two engines. and I want that kind of reality reflected in something of that vintage. So I want to have to worry about shock cooling on the descent, and oil build up while parked up, and cooling issues whilst on a long hold at the take off point, because that's what the skill of flying those airliners was about, and is one of the reasons why the crews didn't get 17 grand a year for flying them like the crews on ATR-72 get nowadays. It's good that JF are bringing out a Connie, but I want it to walk and quack like a duck, as well as looking like one, and I'll happily pay more for the privilege.Al Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here
August 2, 200916 yr The first airliner I ever flew in was a Connie, in 1966, from NJ to Texas ( thank's to the US Army). When the crew found out I was headed for flight training, they let me ride in the cockpit. I can't imagine even heaven being better than that day, and I have been in love with Connie ever since. Maybe if I had married a girl named Connie I'd still be married! :( I still have a love affair with just about anything with radial engines, those were the days when pilots were pilots, and not just computer monitors (no offense to current pilots). If you like those planes, the MAAM DC3 is outstanding. I swear I can smell the avgas when flying it, and you better be good with your hands, cause if you don't follow the engine start procedures EXACTLY, those fans will never fire up! You almost need two pilots just to get it lit up!BTW, heres a great site for Connie fans...http://www.conniesurvivors.com/1-constellation_survivors.htm

August 2, 200916 yr Why A2A didn't follow up their fantastic Stratocruiser with a Connie has always been one of the minor mysteries of flight simulation to me.Maybe they're working on 377 upgrade with "realistic hull-slicing propeller action!"

August 3, 200916 yr Or a B29, most of the hard work has been done....thought that, too. The Strat seems a bit out of place, doesn't it? They're so committed to warbirds, the 29 would have been a shoe-in. i7 [email protected] | 32GB RAM | EVGA RTX 3080Ti | Maximus Hero VII | 512GB 860 Pro | 512GB 850 Pro | 256GB 840 Pro | 2TB 860 QVO | 1TB 870 EVO | Seagate 3TB Cloud | EVGA 1000 GQ | Win10 Pro | EK Custom water cooling.
