August 3, 200916 yr Just wondering if someone can help: When I pushback jets (I have several payware jet addons such as coolsky super 80, 757 captain, fokker 100/70, etc.) they just go straight back. I thought there was a way to turn while pushing back as a real jet does when backing out from the gate. Does anyone know if there is a key command for this? I have tried rudder and differential braking but neither works. It is not very realistic backing out straight like this. Thanks in advance for any help. I find it best to go to outside view when pushback is started - then judge the turn. You'll get it right by trial and error. I usually start with letting the aircraft move back its own length, then I press the 1 or 2 instruction. It will travel about its own length again before starting the turn.Hope this helps. I assume you need to use the number key pad side of the keyboard? Also is it possible that somehow the key assignment is messed up, and if so, how do you reassign this (what is the command called)? Also, once you press shift + P, you then just press "1" or "2", not shift + p + 1 or 2? August 4, 200916 yr See this post for an explanation of the pushback problem:http://forums.flightsim.com/vbfs/showthrea...3170&page=2 Tom
August 4, 200916 yr Author Thanks again for your replies. I will read this article and see if I can make heads out of the pushbck problem. Pete Solov - Lake in the Hills 3CK and Schaumburg Regional 06CProud AOPA Member - PPL 2001Real World Piper Cherokee Pilot
August 4, 200916 yr I use this program all the time,it works very well. It's in the AVSM library. It's by Rob Barendregt in the Flight Simulator X - Gages section. rcbgh-50.zip "File Description:This archive contains version 5.0 of my "ground handling" gauges, like automated push back with conversation sounds, a Taxi speed controller using throttle AND brakes, and more; it can added to any aircraft. New in V5.0: 1. Only for FSX !! 2. Accurate inter working with the new FSX push back tugs. YES, finally :-) !!! 3. Reworked Brakes gauge. 4. Taxi speed gauge now has a built-in ARM function. Easy to install, and fully documented" Please advice how you get on.RayLondonUK

August 5, 200916 yr Author Here may be the problem: It says in the instructions that if your version FSUIPC is not registered then the pushback turning will not work. My version, altough the most up to date, is not registered. I think you have to buy the registered version. Is this an accurate statement, and if so am i wasting my time trying to get the plane to turn during pushback? Use a pushback gauge, like in my groundhandling package rcbgh-50.zipWhich not only worka around the problems, but add a heap of other functionality as well :-)This package does NOT require FSUIPC at all.OR2. Use the standard FS pushback functions with the Registered version of FSUIPC.In the Registered version of FSUIPC you have the option to "filter" these "continuous key_event"s.Rob

I will definitely give the guages a shot. By the way, would I have to invidividually alter the aircraft cfg files for each addon aircraft I have? The reason I ask is because I have upwards of 20 payware aircraft so that might take a while. In any event, I could adjust as I go but the concept sounds great. Thanks again. Thanks again.Hi,Yes, since it is gauge-based you have to add it to each panel.cfg for each individual aircraft (unless they share panels of course, but that's not very likely for payware aircraft :-) )Rob
August 6, 200916 yr Hi Rob, I must say your ground handling gage is a terrific add on to FSX,very clever...I wouldn't know where to start writing such a program.I saw a video some time ago,it showed a B747 with engine heat shimmer effect, all I can find is smoke. Would this be difficult to do? Thanks again for your ground handling gage.RayLondonUK
August 7, 200916 yr Author Hi Rob,I installed the guage but for some odd reason when I select it all that comes up is a black box but nothing inside. I most obvsiously did something wrong, but I have done several adjustments to cfg files for aircraft, etc. and have not really had many problems in the past. Funny since there only seemed to be a few easy steps. BTW, i installed this in the Coolsky Super 80. Any ideas what I may have done wrong? Any help would be appreciated.
