August 4, 200916 yr Commercial Member Actually, to be 100% accurate... 3 conditions... you forgot a DX10 compliant video card. :( Ed Wilson Mindstar AviationMy Playland - I69
August 5, 200916 yr My misunderstanding, the word preview is a bit misleading. I thought preview mode is for xp as it doesnt have dx10 and maybe fsx sp2 'previews' some features. why is it called a dx10 preview?
August 5, 200916 yr My misunderstanding, the word preview is a bit misleading. I thought preview mode is for xp as it doesnt have dx10 and maybe fsx sp2 'previews' some features. why is it called a dx10 preview?Because it was never properly implemented for FSX due to the late arrival of Vista, postponed until after the release of FSX, when the sim was destined originally to be a flagship product for the capabilities of DX10. It has numerous flaws in its beta incarnation. None which you need to worry about as you don't have DX10 capability.
August 24, 200916 yr So does dx10 work in FSX or not? I'm using FS9 now but I plan to build another rig for FSX soon. The way I am reading this is it sorta works in FSX but there are a lot of bugs.I know I am asking for a guess here - will FSX ever be DX10 compliant (say with the release of W7) or will we have to wait for some other sim to come along.Sorry to act so confused but I usually don't read the FSX forums. I always thought that I would have DX10 with the proper hardware and the right OS. MSFS Premium Deluxe Edition; Windows 11 Pro, I9-9900k; Asus Maximus XI Hero; Asus TUF RTX3080TI; 32GB G.Skill Ripjaw DDR4 3600; 2X Samsung 1TB 970EVO; NZXT Kraken X63; Seasonic Prime PX-1000, LG 48" C1 Series OLED, Honeycomb Yoke & TQ, CH Rudder Pedals, Logitech G13 Gamepad
August 24, 200916 yr I try it out every once in awhile, but some of my add-ons do not look right in DX10 so it gets to be a pain sorting everything out ahead of time. Mostly I just forget about it.
August 24, 200916 yr So does dx10 work in FSX or not?It works, gives some nice visual effects and for many increases performance a little, I also love the cockpit shadows, but it does have some glitches, mostly runway flickering. It's like with anything in FS, you have to decide what features are important to you and what features you can live with/without. Best, Michael KDFW
August 24, 200916 yr What you have right now in FSX/DX10 will be it. It won't matter with Win 7,8,9 or 10! The same with DX11,12 or 13!!
