August 19, 200916 yr I have read and re-read, and re-read again the instructions for assigning axes and buttons in Peter Dowson's documentation for FSUIPC and tried every sequence of checkboxes and selections I could think of, and I still can't get the controls to do what I want. Without writing a big paragraph about exactly what I do and the results, let me just say that nothing works as I would expect it to after following Peter's directions as closely as I can. Could someone please show me what a complete idiot I am for missing something obvious, or talk me through the process for one axis and one button?Better yet, how about throttle, rudder, and one button? The numbers for the throttle range from way negative to way positive, suggesting to me that something's amiss. I would think for this control that the range would be from zero to some positive number. Arrgghh.I run XP Home SP3 and FS9 with joystick disabled so I can make assignments solely with FSUIPC. My stick is a Saitek AV8R with the latest drivers and the SST software removed. This is a fully registered Ver 3.90.Thanks Very Much, MH
August 19, 200916 yr Here is an excellent tutorial on how to calibrate the joysticks using FSUIPC.It is available here in the AVSIM File Library.fsuipc-guide-v1.zipWhen calibrating the joysticks, the range does run from a negative number to a positive number, unless the Raw checkbox is checked, in which case the numbers range from 0 to 256 as I recall.I found that there is some very useful information in Peter's Advanced tutorial as well as the general tutorial he wrote. The above file brings a lot of settings and proceedures together, but it is geared towards CH Products.Have a look and see what you think.John
August 19, 200916 yr Author Thanks ironhorsmn. I'll give it a go. I've looked at "FSUIPC for Advanced Users" too - if that's what you mean by "advanced tutorial," but still come up successless (hmmm, invented a new word). Doing a search with that name doesn't produce any results.
August 19, 200916 yr Carob,It is the correct name, however it seems that the file is one of many that got lost from the library.I have it, I can send it to you by email if you want.Hope this helpHani

August 20, 200916 yr Hi Carob, try this link, it just now worked for me, http://www.aeroworx.com/b200/pilots/fsuipc-guide-v1.zipKen
August 20, 200916 yr Author I may just take you up on that. I'll be out of the country for about 20 days so when I get home I'll see what I can do on my own. It's possible that I'll PM you. Thanks for your help. The FSUIPC user doc is very comprehensive, but - having been a technical writer for some 20 years - I would definitely massage it to minimize confusion on the part of people like myself who don't have the specialized knowledge that Peter has - particularly some scenarios with detailed lists of instructions. He is obviously very gifted to have put this product and guide together, but a guide should take into consideration the primary audience to really be effective. I generally write for people with an 8th-grade education and that can even help degreed folks.MH If you need any further help Mudhen, let me know by a PM and I'll walk you through it.Jim D.
August 20, 200916 yr There are two guides distributed with FSUIPC, user and advanced user.In addition if you are working with the CH Throttle Quadrant there are guides on stickworks.com. On the FSUIPC forum there are links that also contain information.http://forums.simflight.com/viewtopic.php?...8a6c4ea8b14a6a0http://forums.simflight.com/viewtopic.php?...8a6c4ea8b14a6a0
August 31, 200916 yr I need to know to how assign the axis to 4 eng FS9 aircraft and stoprandom assignment of buttons.CH rudder will not stay centered but will suddenly flick hard over.I have tried many different tutorials and manuals. The CH tut by John Cook for instance states "Disable the joy stick and do not install CM and use FSUIPC . When I unstalled CM FS9 didn't see any of my CH controllers I guess it took all the drivers.I reinstalled CM and just deleted the folder. OK.. I disabled the joystick and after completing the TUT I had 8 working axis but no control surfaces. Yes I tried to use FSUIPC to cfg the joy and rudders

I disabled the joystick and after completing the TUT I had 8 working axis but no control surfaces. Yes I tried to use FSUIPC to cfg the joy and ruddersSounds like the confusion is that you disabled the joystick which you do NOT do, simply REMOVE the assignments from the default FS menu option. As for the rudder, you either have a secondary controller also giving rudder instructions (twistgrip on the joystick is the usual culprit - reassign that to view panning or something else), or else you have a hardware problem causing a `spike` in the pedals that is causing the hard-over. The major cause for this is if you also have the CH Yoke, when the default allocation strangely applies one of the power/prop/pitch levers to rudder by default. But you don't mention having a CH yoke so have no way of confirming whether this is your problem.Again, FSUIPC contains an option to deal with this occurrence but it might be the potentiometer is actually faulty. Eliminate the software from the equation and that will tell you. Go to the Windows Control Panel, choose the game controllers, open the rudder pedals box and watch the cursor - if it randomly moves by itself even when you are not touching the pedals then you have a problem with the pedals. If it doesnt move smoothly and equally in both directions with application then you have a problem with the pedals. If it doesn't then you have a problem with the software and should use FSUIPC appropriately.
