If 8.5 NM prior to the VOR, enter "CKG/-8.5" into the scratchpad, if after the VOR enter "CKG/8.5", then upselect to the appropriate LSK. This topic is addresses well in chapter 12 of the PMDG747-400 operating manual.Zach zachlog

August 22, 200916 yr Commercial Member TD315/5.1 in Legs page. That's not technically the same thing as "fly heading 315 until 5.1 DME from TD". What this is saying is fly to the point located at 5.1DME on the 315 degree radial of TD. In a no wind situation, they'll be the same, but add wind and the actual location of this point will change because heading isn't ground track. There's really only two ways to do this - 1. just fly it manually - draw a 5.1 DME ring around the VOR using the FIX page and fly 315 in HDG SEL until you hit the circle (or you could just fly 315 with TD VOR tuned and observe the DME readout), or 2. code it into a SIDSTAR file for the airport in question. Such "floating" or "pseudo" waypoints can't actually be entered in by the pilots on the real aircraft, they have to be a hard-coded into the navdata's terminal procedures.
