August 27, 200916 yr Hi allWhenever I fly from Heathrow, ATC always sends me to runway 09L/R. Is there any way I can change the default runway to 27L/R?Similarly, Luton ATC always sends me to runway 08. In all the years I've flown from LTN, I've never left or arrived from that end, it's quite frustrating. If there is anyway that this can be changed, please let me know and if possible a step by step idiots guide on how I can do this.MTIA

August 28, 200916 yr How does raising my flaps refresh traffic?JoeI think he means just refresh FS9, because out of FS9 the F5 key is used to refresh the page but obviously in FS this key is used to retract the flaps, so just refresh FS9 (im not sure how you do that, try a right click on your mouse, or try using the real world weather feature, this should make ATC use the runway depending on wind data etc)
August 28, 200916 yr You can also change this in AFCAD. For example, if an airport has multiple runways and only particular ones are used for landing and other ones for takeoffs, you can simulate this in FS by editing the AFCAD file. There is an option for closing a particular runway for takeoffs or landings.

Where can I find the AFCAD files and is it just a case of substituting the runways and saving the AFCAD file?
August 28, 200916 yr A ha, this sounds more like it. Where can I find the AFCAD files and is it just a case of substituting the runways and saving the AFCAD file?AFCAD's don't exist in the default FS9.AfCad2.21 is a program that reads data associated with an airport from several files within FS9.With this program you can make adjustments to airports that AfCad will output in a file that by default will be named AF2_(ICOA_code).bgl.When this file is placed in any active scenery folder the info in it will override the default info.It is a relatively simple CAD program that is easy to use and includes an excellent help file.Find it here - http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?DLID=46238I suggest you dive into it and have fun, if you have more questions there are plenty of kind folk here willing to help.regards,Joe The best gift you can give your children is your time.
August 28, 200916 yr How does raising my flaps refresh traffic?JoeJoe Apologies. Moving the flaps will not help :( I meant Shift-F5. I cannot remember if I have actually set Shift-F5 to refresh traffic or it is a default setting. Give it a try and see. Another way to refresh is to Pause/advance time to 8x/return time to 1x/unpause. Peter Schluter

Like I said that works all the time.Abe

August 29, 200916 yr I think changing the sim rate to 8x and back, changing sim time +/- 2 min, or changing your heading in the map view +/- 1 degree all cause the AI to refresh and obey any wind/viz induced runway changes. note that the ability to actually change runway usage by way of AFCAD files is limited. Probably the most typical is to cause two or more runways that are not parallel to operate together (so called crosswind runway star technique).scott s..
