September 6, 200916 yr HI Ijust bought the J41. I have allways been a two d panel guy. But the J41 is only a VC panel. Iam thinking of getting that trackir. What I would like to know is what is the differance between the 4 and the 5. thanks keith
September 6, 200916 yr The TrackIR 5 has a wider field of view (51.7 degrees compared to 46 degrees) and the TrackIR 5 has a much higher pixel resolution (1850 subpixels/degree as compared to 154 subpixels/degree). Which means in theory it will be smoother and more accurate. I own a TrackIR 3 Pro and a TrackIR 4 Pro and both function great. I'm not sure if the cost difference between a 4 and a 5 justify purchasing the 5 as I have not used a 5.
September 7, 200916 yr I own the TrackIR 3 Pro and just purchased the TrackIR 5 Pro with the clip. For some reason I get the version 3 to work better with PMDG J41 and I don't understand why! The view "jumps around" much more with the newer gear. Strange! Krister LindénEFMA, Finland------------------
September 8, 200916 yr I use trackir 4, I have always used the 4.1.037 version of the software, just the other day I downloaded Version 5.0 of the software since it is compatible with trackir 4 and 5. It was awful, no matter how I adjusted the settings, it was lunging forward and just all over the place. So if anyone gets trackir 4 and has horrible results with v5.0 of the software try v4.1.037 its much better for some reason.

I have a TrackIR 4 with the TrackClip Pro (and love it - can't fly without it!). I tried the version 5 software but found it very unstable no matter what settings I tried. Went back to V.4 and it works fine again. I don't know how a TR5 would work with it's own V.5 software though; and I'm not quite ready to fork out my $ for one unless my TR4 gives up the ghost somehow or somebody makes an irresistable upgrade offer :( .Cheers i5 760 @ 4.1GHz on P7P55D-E Pro | 4x 2GB G.Skill RipJaws DDR3-1600 | 2x WD SE16 Caviar SATAII | Gainward GTX460 2GB GS | ThermalTake ToughPower 750W | LG 32LG50FD @ 1920x1080x32 | Windows 7 HP x64 | FSX Deluxe + Acceleration | FTX AU SP3 | FTX NA Blue PNW | REX2 | JF TrafficX | TrackIR

September 11, 200916 yr thanks for the advice. I may just get the track4 it is about 50. cheaper! keithHi,I have the Track IR5, the latest version 5 software and the ttrackclipPRO. I use it on the PMDG MD-11 and it works perfectly. Many years ago when the TrackIR first came out, i purchased it and used it for a while, but back then hardware and software wasn't up to par to run strictly in VC mode. Actually i was one of those people that would tell you VC is the devil and no really simmer would ever use it (lol). Now i can't fly without my Track IR5 and i can't fly with the 2D panel at all. I'm so impressed with the Track IR5 and the VC flying that i'm going to start to test a finger mounted gyro driven air mouse. I'm sure you can figure out what i'm trying to do here (lol). Anyway VC and Track IR adds so much realism to your FS that its worth getting! Make sure that your other hardware is up to the task though, on average you'll get 50% less frames running VC at good ref rates than you'd get running a 2D panel setup. If you can get a giant monitor too that would certainly help. I'm running a dual 24" setup right now and can only imagine what it would look like on a 30" screen at 2560 x 1600 res, I'll find out really soon though. Hope it works out for yah!RegardsKizzle
