Taxiing with gust lock

Featured Replies

Hey, I just wanted to check, no-one else can taxi with the gust lock in right? I can't achieve breakaway power with it in, nor can I steer, as there's no independent tiller control. It'd be cool if we could, as that's how it's normally done.

I can't as well. Tried engaging it like the after landing checklist calls for, but no joy.

bump....Me either.......had to turn it back off

It is because in wonderful fsx the rudder and the steering wheel are coupled. In real aircraft this is not the case. Because the gust lock locks the rudder too, the steering wheel is also locked. Unfortunately it's quite hard to taxi without a working steering wheel. Only workaround is to unlock the gust lock before taxi, i'm afraid.

Not a solution, but can you taxi with differential thrust? The tillers on some planes are so touchy that it's just smoother to steer with "Beta."

Maybe the workaround could be done by PMDG by unassigning the rudder axis from the gust lock due to the simulator limitations, which lets us use the rudder pedals for taxiing (simulating the steering wheel) and still following the normal procedures by applying the gust lock in the taxi checks?Greetz...

Hi guys,This has been fixed for SP1. Note that you'll be required to taxi using asymmetrical thrust (this can get quirky in FS), as only the left OR right power lever can be advanced when the gust lock lever is engaged.

Cheers,

Henning
