... and i quote "Maybe a little dumb not asking the question, and not in the right place, instead of being mystified?"
Oh dear. All that was merely a paraphrase of the nice little saying "the only dumb question is the one not asked". It was not a serious insult, just a play on your own words. Was I supposed to add a lot of laughing jumping icons to make that obvious? All I was suggesting was that you could ask the question straight away, and, for an immediate response, in the advertised forum, instead of getting yourself mystified, and now in a lather.If folks are going to be so over-sensitive and have such a lack of understanding of others motives, I'll keep my advice to my forum and try to avoid any sort of humour whatsoever (which is quite difficult as I like humour). I'm sorry you took it the wrong way and won't bother you again. :( :( RegardsPete

Mr Dowson, thank you for clarifiying;

That i can understand, that is why i didn't mention it in my fist reply to you.

Maybe that would have help, that is the problem of not having the voice and intonation of the person we are exchanging with, these little buggers (emoticons) can translate emotions a little :( Since we do not know each other and it was the first time we "connect", it was difficult for me to interpret what you wrote with the intended attitude...Can we please start all over again, on your forum if you prefer ? i will have free time tomorrow morning thank you in advance,Alain from MontrealEDIT : I gave it a go this morning and it is working :( I figured out that on the correct serve name in the INI should be the name of the server PC like this : "ServerName=Al-9180f-PC" instead of "WORKGROUP" that i use as a network name... i guess i am better off trying in the morning next time than at night after work... :(

Yes, of course, though I see, later in this message, that your main problem is fixed. But you will be very welcome on my Forum any time. I try to be very responsive -- and others there do help out when I'm on holiday.
EDIT : I gave it a go this morning and it is working :( I figured out that on the correct serve name in the INI should be the name of the server PC like this : "ServerName=Al-9180f-PC" instead of "WORKGROUP" that i use as a network name.
Yes. The workgroup name (that you call the Network name) should really be the same for all the computers in the network. It is that which defines the group of cooperating PCs. If it is the same, then broadcasts from Servers can reach all the computers, and it is this system which allows WideFS to operate completely automatically on most folks' systems -- with no parameter changes at all needed. This is why I mentioned that you might need to rename the workgroup on one of the PCs when you mix XP and Vista systems -- Microsoft unfortunately used different default workgroup names for the two operating systems.The fact that the workgroup name is (or should be) the same on each PC does make it pretty useless to actually IDENTIFY a specific PC, so it cannot be used to tell the Client where the Server is. I use the unique PC name for that.

Oh, I'm the other way around. I do no serious programming changes in the morning, else they are bound to be buggy and generally ill thought out! I'm very much a night person. All my best work has been done in the "wee hours". ;-)RegardsPete

FWIW, I've been using WideFS for years and now I use both WideFS and Simconnect-client simultaneously for FSX, and both work great. I use the Simconnect-client for HiFiSim's ASA and WideFS7 for FlightSim Flight Keeper, Radar Contact, and FS Commander. I use these add-ons on the FSX Client (below) which is also my general-use PC and keep the FSX Server (below) with all its tweaks and configurations, dedicated to FlightSim X.

I'm delighted to read that you've sorted out everything. Just to be clear though, what I meant was simply this...Since there is only one network solution available to accomplish the task, deciding to not use it at all would be rather childish and self-defeating, n'est-ce pas? :( One of the things I've learned over the years is to always assume the best intentions of my correspondent, at least the first time around.For example, the emoticon I chose to use above is meant to convey that I'm laughing with you, not at you... :(

OK, i confessed : i'm discovered ! my native language is french :( (true too!) B) I have no problem whatsoever using english language as it is international; what i like about french is the possibility to carefully choose a word that will convey exactly and precisely a sentiment, fact, etc. On the other hand i feel english is more like "right to the point" but can also cut like a knife without meaning it, leaving a big door open for misunderstanding; don't know if i am clear enough? :(

Mais oui! English is at once both precise and ambigous. One of the biggest stumbling blocks for anyone learning English is that the exact same word can mean multiple things......even within the same sentence and context!For example:
It was only a fluke that the anchor's fluke didn't get caught in the whale's fluke as he caught a fluke for dinner.
fluke:1. A fish, or possibly a flatworm. 2. The end parts of an anchor. 3. The fins on a whale's tail. 4. A stroke of luck. All four are separate lexemes with separate etymologies, but share the one form, fluke.

LOL ! very true !I am flying now from CYUL to KORD with Radar Contact on WideFS and ASA on simconnect, this is the first time i use a client PC and it seems like i might have lower frame rate (at unlimited), i know that Radar Contact window drags some fps, it could be the reason, will redo the flight without RC and ASA and use REX weather instead, will keep you informed :(
